SCENE 1 — THE PATIO — EVENING

HOOK

Sometimes, a secret isn’t dangerous because of what it contains… It’s dangerous because of who you were willing to hide it from.

The evening was unusually quiet. A cool breeze moved gently through the patio as Shayla slowly stepped outside, holding a small envelope in her hand.

Her expression was serious. She had come to meet Iman.

Iman was sitting on a chair looking at his phone. When he noticed Shayla approaching, he immediately put his phone away.

IMAN

“Shayla, you came.”

SHAYLA

“Yes.”

Shayla looked around carefully before taking the envelope from her bag.

IMAN

“What’s that?”

SHAYLA

“The money you asked me for.”

Iman looked surprised as Shayla handed him the envelope.

SHAYLA

“But I want you to understand something. This is the last time I’m helping you financially.”

IMAN

“I understand. I promise I’ll explain everything.”

Shayla looked at him suspiciously.

SHAYLA

“You keep saying that, Iman. But you never actually explain anything.”

SCENE 2 — ANTHONY DISCOVERS THE SECRET

Before Iman could answer, neither of them noticed Anthony standing near the entrance.

Anthony had just returned home. He had seen Shayla walking toward the patio and followed quietly.

At first, he thought she was simply meeting someone. Then he saw the envelope.

His expression immediately changed.

ANTHONY

“Shayla…”

Shayla slowly turned around.

SHAYLA

“Anthony?”

ANTHONY

“Are you giving Iman money?”

Shayla became nervous.

SHAYLA

“Anthony, please. Let me explain.”

ANTHONY

“Explain what?”

Anthony looked directly at the envelope in Iman’s hand.

ANTHONY

“I just watched you give him money.”

IMAN

“Anthony, calm down. It’s not what you think.”

ANTHONY

“I wasn’t talking to you.”

SCENE 3 — TWENTY THOUSAND DOLLARS

ANTHONY

“Why were you hiding this from me?”

SHAYLA

“Because I knew you’d get angry.”

ANTHONY

“And you were right!”

Shayla looked down as Anthony took a deep breath.

ANTHONY

“How much did you give him?”

Shayla hesitated.

ANTHONY

“Shayla. How much?”

SHAYLA

“Twenty thousand.”

Anthony froze.

ANTHONY

“Twenty thousand?”

SHAYLA

“Yes.”

ANTHONY

“You gave him twenty thousand dollars without even telling me?”

SHAYLA

“Iman needed help.”

ANTHONY

“That doesn’t explain why you kept it a secret.”

SCENE 4 — IMAN’S DECISION

IMAN

“Anthony, she was only trying to help me. There is nothing between us.”

ANTHONY

“Then why couldn’t she tell me?”

Iman became silent. He had no answer.

Shayla’s eyes began to fill with tears.

SHAYLA

“Anthony, I didn’t want to hurt you.”

ANTHONY

“But you did.”

The patio became completely silent.

Iman looked down at the envelope.

IMAN

“If this is causing problems between you two, I’ll give the money back.”

SHAYLA

“Iman, you need it.”

IMAN

“I do, but I don’t want my problems to destroy your relationship.”

SCENE 5 — THE QUESTION

ANTHONY

“You’ll give it back?”

IMAN

“Yes.”

Iman held the envelope toward Shayla.

Shayla didn’t take it immediately. Instead, she looked at Anthony.

Anthony’s anger had not completely disappeared, but his expression had softened.

ANTHONY

“I’m not angry because of the money.”

SHAYLA

“Then why?”

ANTHONY

“Because you didn’t trust me enough to tell me the truth.”

Tears rolled down Shayla’s cheek.

SCENE 6 — THE PROMISE

SHAYLA

“I was scared.”

ANTHONY

“Scared of me?”

SHAYLA

“Scared of losing you.”

Anthony became quiet.

After a few seconds, he stepped closer to her.

ANTHONY

“I don’t want to lose you either.”

SHAYLA

“Then please forgive me.”

ANTHONY

“I can forgive you. But promise me something.”

SHAYLA

“What?”

ANTHONY

“Never hide something this important from me again.”

SHAYLA

“I promise.”

SCENE 7 — THE SECRET BEHIND THE MONEY

ANTHONY

“And you… next time you need help, don’t put Shayla in the middle of our relationship.”

IMAN

“I understand.”

Iman placed the envelope on the table.

The three of them stood there in silence.

The situation seemed to be getting better. But Anthony still had one question in his mind.

Why had Shayla been willing to give Iman twenty thousand dollars?

There had to be more to the story.

Anthony watched Iman walk away from the patio. His expression slowly became serious again.

The money wasn’t the real mystery.

The real mystery was the reason behind it.

Sometimes, the biggest secrets aren’t about money… They’re about the people we are trying to protect.

Anthony looked at Shayla.

He had forgiven her. But deep inside, he knew something was still missing.

Something Shayla hadn’t told him.

And Anthony was determined to find out the truth.
