The Truth Behind Anthony’s Proposal

Is D’Nisha His Future, or Is Amber Still in His Heart?

SCENE 01 A Proposal That Should Have Been Perfect

EXT. TURKS AND CAICOS – BEACHFRONT EVENT – EVENING

The sun slowly disappears into the ocean, painting the sky with beautiful shades of orange and pink. Music fills the air as guests gather for an unforgettable evening. Everyone is dressed elegantly, enjoying the tropical atmosphere.

But tonight, one moment is about to change everything.

Anthony stands in front of D’Nisha, holding a beautiful engagement ring. His eyes remain fixed on her as he takes a deep breath and slowly lowers himself onto one knee.

D’Nisha freezes. Her hands fly to her mouth, and her eyes fill with tears.

ANTHONY

D’Nisha, ever since you came into my life, you have given me reasons to believe that love can be beautiful again. You have stood beside me, believed in me, and shown me what it means to have someone who truly cares.

I want to build a future with you, face every challenge with you, and grow old knowing that I chose you every single day. Will you marry me?

D’NISHA

Anthony, oh my goodness! I honestly don’t even know what to say right now. You have completely caught me off guard.

Yes! Of course, I’ll marry you!

The crowd erupts into cheers. Anthony slips the ring onto her finger and rises to embrace her. For a moment, everything appears perfect.

But Dave remembers one detail: this is the same date Anthony and Amber once celebrated as their anniversary.

SCENE 02 Dave Connects the Dots

EXT. BEACHFRONT EVENT – LATER THAT EVENING

Dave watches Anthony from a distance. He cannot stop thinking about the date and what it meant to Anthony and Amber.

When Anthony steps away from the crowd, Dave follows him toward a quieter section of the beach.

DAVE

Anthony, congratulations on the engagement. But there’s something I need to ask you. Out of all the days you could have chosen to propose to D’Nisha, you chose the anniversary of the day you and Amber got together.

ANTHONY

Come on, Dave. You’re really going to turn my engagement into a conversation about Amber? I proposed to D’Nisha because I love her. That’s what matters.

DAVE

Then answer me honestly. Did you know what day it was when you decided to propose?

Anthony hesitates. For a brief second, he looks uncomfortable before quickly looking away.

ANTHONY

I knew the date, but that doesn’t mean I chose it because of Amber. There are plenty of things that happened in my past that I don’t think about anymore.

DAVE

That’s not what I’m asking. Did you deliberately choose this day because you knew it would remind you of Amber?

ANTHONY

No, Dave. I didn’t do this to make Amber jealous. I love D’Nisha, and I want to marry her. Why is that so difficult for you to believe?

Dave shakes his head, unconvinced. Anthony’s hesitation has raised more questions than his answer has resolved.

SCENE 03 Anthony Tries to Defend Himself

Anthony watches Dave walk away before following him again, determined to put the matter to rest.

ANTHONY

Listen, I don’t want you walking around thinking you know what’s going on in my head. You don’t. Amber and I had a relationship. We shared memories, and we had an anniversary. That doesn’t mean I’m supposed to spend the rest of my life thinking about her.

People move on, Dave. That’s what I’m doing.

DAVE

Moving on is one thing. Making a commitment to another woman while your past still has a hold on you is something else.

ANTHONY

You think I would ask D’Nisha to marry me if I didn’t mean it?

DAVE

I think you need to be honest with yourself before you ask anybody else to build a future with you. Caring about somebody doesn’t automatically mean you’ve completely let go of somebody else.

Anthony looks away. He wants to argue, but the words do not come easily.

Dave walks away, leaving Anthony alone with a question he does not seem prepared to answer.

SCENE 04 Amber Chooses Maturity

EXT. BEACHFRONT EVENT – SAME EVENING

Amber approaches D’Nisha with a composed expression. Although the engagement news has stirred complicated emotions, Amber refuses to allow her feelings to control her behavior.

D’NISHA

Amber! Thank you for coming over. I wanted to show you the ring.

AMBER

Congratulations, D’Nisha. It’s beautiful.

D’NISHA

I’m still trying to believe that this actually happened. Anthony surprised me so much tonight.

AMBER

I’m happy that you’re happy. You deserve to enjoy this moment, and I hope everything works out the way you want it to.

D’NISHA

I know things between you and Anthony are part of the past, and I don’t want there to be any unnecessary tension between us.

AMBER

There doesn’t have to be. Whatever Anthony and I had is between us. You and I don’t need to turn this into a competition.

D’Nisha smiles, relieved by Amber’s response. But as soon as Amber is alone, her expression changes.

She remembers the anniversary she once shared with Anthony and wonders whether he remembers it too.

SCENE 05 Dave Begins to Understand Amber

EXT. RESORT TERRACE – NIGHT

Dave finds Amber standing alone on the terrace overlooking the ocean. The celebration continues behind them, but Amber seems disconnected from the excitement.

DAVE

You okay?

AMBER

I’m fine. Why wouldn’t I be?

DAVE

Because I know you, Amber. And I don’t think this situation is as simple for you as you’re making it seem.

AMBER

Anthony proposed to D’Nisha. That’s his decision. I’m not going to stand here and tell another woman that she shouldn’t be happy because of something that happened between me and him.

DAVE

I want to know whether you think Anthony has really moved on.

Amber looks back toward the ocean as Dave explains that Anthony admitted remembering the date but denied choosing it because of her.

AMBER

I don’t want to be the reason their relationship falls apart. D’Nisha hasn’t done anything to me.

DAVE

That doesn’t mean you have to pretend you don’t have questions.

AMBER

Of course I have questions, Dave. But if Anthony has chosen her, then he needs to be the one to explain his intentions.

Dave nods, finally understanding that Amber is not trying to interfere. She is trying to protect her dignity while dealing with the possibility that Anthony has not completely moved on.

SCENE 06 The Question Everyone Wants Answered

INT. RESORT LOUNGE – LATER THAT NIGHT

D’Nisha sits beside Anthony, admiring her engagement ring. She leans against him, excitedly discussing their future.

D’NISHA

I keep thinking about everything we still have to do. We need to talk about the wedding, where we’re going to live, and what kind of future we want together.

ANTHONY

We’ll figure everything out. We have plenty of time, and I want us to enjoy this moment before we start worrying about all the details.

D’NISHA

I just want us to be honest with each other. If we’re going to get married, I want us to know that we’re building something real.

ANTHONY

We are building something real.

Across the room, Dave exchanges a look with Amber. Neither says anything, but both are thinking about the same unanswered question.

AMBER

There’s something I’ve been thinking about, and I don’t know whether I should say it.

The conversation around the room begins to fade. D’Nisha turns toward her.

D’NISHA

What is it, Amber?

ANTHONY

Amber, whatever this is, I don’t think now is the right time.

AMBER

Why? Is there something about today that you don’t want people talking about?

Anthony stares at her. D’Nisha slowly removes her head from his shoulder.

D’NISHA

Anthony, what’s going on?

ANTHONY

Nothing is going on. We’re all having a good night, and I don’t understand why we’re suddenly turning this into a problem.

DAVE

Maybe because some questions still haven’t been answered.

The room falls silent. D’Nisha looks from Dave to Anthony, confusion slowly replacing her happiness.

SCENE 07 A Love Story on the Edge

INT. RESORT LOUNGE – CONTINUOUS

D’Nisha slowly rises from her seat. Her hand moves instinctively toward her engagement ring.

D’NISHA

Anthony, please tell me what’s happening. I don’t want to hear rumors, and I don’t want to misunderstand anything. Just tell me the truth.

ANTHONY

D’Nisha, I love you. That’s all you need to know.
