THE APARTMENT OF BETRAYAL
Purnell decides to surprise Jade with a beautiful new apartment. But just as he hands her the keys, Larry receives a shocking message. The message exposes Jade’s disturbing past and changes everything. Will Purnell believe Larry, or will Jade convince him to trust her?
Purnell’s Big Surprise
Purnell stands outside a beautiful apartment building with Larry. He takes out his phone and calls Jade.
PURNELL
Hey, Jade. I have something special for you. Come over to the apartment. I want to show you something.
JADE
Something special? Now you’ve got me curious. What is it?
PURNELL
Just get here, and you’ll find out.
LARRY
I hope you know what you’re doing, Purnell. Buying an apartment for someone is a big decision.
PURNELL
I know, Larry. I just want to do something nice for her.
Jade Gets the Apartment
A few minutes later, Jade arrives. Purnell welcomes her and takes her inside the apartment.
JADE
Oh my goodness! This place is beautiful. Purnell, why did you bring me here?
PURNELL
Because I wanted to give you something special. This apartment is yours.
JADE
Are you serious? You’re giving me this entire apartment?
PURNELL
Absolutely. I want you to have your own place. You deserve it.
Purnell takes the apartment keys out of his pocket and hands them to Jade.
JADE
I honestly don’t know what to say. Thank you so much, Purnell!
LARRY
Congratulations, Jade. I hope you appreciate what he’s doing for you.
Larry Receives a Shocking Message
Suddenly, Larry’s phone vibrates. He checks the message from an unknown number and becomes visibly concerned.
The message reads:
Larry, you need to know the truth about Jade. She took my money and disappeared. She also took my property. Please stay away from her before she does the same thing to you and Purnell.
LARRY
Hold on! What is this?
PURNELL
What’s wrong, Larry? You look worried.
LARRY
I just received a message from someone who claims Jade stole his money and property.
JADE
What? Who sent you that message?
Jade’s Past Comes Out
LARRY
This man says you took everything from him and disappeared. He’s warning us to stay away from you.
JADE
That’s ridiculous! You can’t believe everything someone sends you.
PURNELL
Jade, is there something you’re not telling us?
JADE
No! Someone is obviously trying to ruin my reputation.
LARRY
Then explain why this person knows so much about you. Why would he send us such a serious warning?
JADE
I don’t have to explain my personal business to you!
Larry Takes Away the Keys
Larry steps forward and takes the apartment keys from Purnell’s hand.
JADE
Excuse me! Those keys belong to me. Give them back!
LARRY
You’re not getting this apartment until we know the truth.
JADE
Purnell gave me those keys! You have no right to take them away.
LARRY
I’m not letting you take advantage of him.
Larry loses his temper and slaps Jade. She steps back in shock.
JADE
Did you just slap me? Are you out of your mind?
LARRY
Get out of here! We don’t need this kind of trouble.
Purnell and Larry Argue
PURNELL
Larry, you can’t just take everything away from her because of one message!
LARRY
One message? Someone is warning us because he claims he has already been through this with Jade!
PURNELL
What if the message isn’t true? What if someone is trying to frame her?
LARRY
Then she should have no problem proving it. You’re about to give everything to someone whose past you don’t even know!
JADE
Purnell, don’t let Larry turn you against me. He’s never wanted to see us happy.
LARRY
Stop trying to manipulate him! You need to answer these accusations.
Jade Walks Away
JADE
I’m done listening to these accusations. Purnell, if you really care about me, you’ll know who to believe.
Jade turns around and walks out of the apartment, leaving Purnell and Larry arguing.
PURNELL
I can’t believe this happened. I was only trying to do something good for her.
LARRY
I’m trying to protect you, Purnell. This woman might be more dangerous than you think.
PURNELL
I need to find out whether that message is true before I make another decision.
Jade’s Mysterious Phone Call
Outside the building, Jade takes out her phone and looks back toward the apartment. She makes a mysterious call.
JADE
Listen, we have a problem. Larry found out something about my past. I need you to handle this before things get worse.
Jade ends the call and walks away with a serious expression. Inside the apartment, Purnell is still trying to understand what just happened.
Larry looks at him and realizes that this situation may be far from over.
