When Shayla Gets Into Anthony’s Mind, He Tries to Win Her Back
WHEN SHAYLA GETS INTO ANTHONY’S MIND, HE TRIES TO WIN HER BACK

SCENE 1 — INT. ANTHONY & D’NISHA’S HOUSE — EVENING

The house is unusually quiet.

Anthony sits alone in the living room, staring at his phone. His expression is distant, as if his mind is somewhere else.

He scrolls through old memories, then stops.

A picture of Shayla appears on the screen.

Anthony studies it for a moment.

A conflicted expression crosses his face.

He quickly locks his phone, but the thought of Shayla remains.

ANTHONY
Why do I keep thinking about her?

He leans back and takes a deep breath.

For weeks, Anthony has tried to convince himself that his past with Shayla is over.

But tonight, those feelings seem stronger than ever.

D’NISHA
Anthony, are you okay?

Anthony looks up.

ANTHONY
Yeah. I’m fine.

D’Nisha notices that something is bothering him.

D’NISHA
You don’t look fine.

Anthony pauses before answering.

ANTHONY
I’ve just been thinking about a lot of things.
D’NISHA
About what?

Anthony looks away.

He doesn’t answer.

SCENE 2 — EXT. SHAYLA’S HOUSE — NIGHT

Shayla stands outside, checking her phone.

A message appears from Anthony.

She reads it.

Her expression changes.

The message is simple.

Anthony wants to talk.

Shayla hesitates before responding.

A few moments later, she agrees.

SCENE 3 — EXT. QUIET PARK — NIGHT

Anthony waits near a bench.

He looks nervous but determined.

Shayla approaches.

Anthony immediately looks toward her.

For a moment, neither speaks.

The silence between them carries years of unresolved emotions.

SHAYLA
Why did you ask me to come here?
ANTHONY
Because I need to tell you something.
SHAYLA
I’m listening.

Anthony steps closer, but keeps a respectful distance.

ANTHONY
I’ve been thinking about everything that happened between us.
SHAYLA
Anthony, we’ve already been through all of that.
ANTHONY
I know.

He pauses.

ANTHONY
But I don’t want to keep living in the past.

Shayla looks at him.

ANTHONY
I want you to forget everything that happened between us.
SHAYLA
Forget everything?
ANTHONY
Not because it didn’t matter. Because I want us to stop letting the past control what happens next.

Shayla remains quiet.

ANTHONY
If we ever have another chance, I want to start over.
SHAYLA
And what about D’Nisha?

Anthony’s expression becomes serious.

ANTHONY
That’s something I’ve been thinking about too.
ANTHONY
My feelings have changed.
SHAYLA
You can’t just say that because you’re confused.
ANTHONY
I’m not confused about how I feel right now.
ANTHONY
I’m thinking about you.

SCENE 4 — INT. SHAYLA’S BEDROOM — MORNING

The next morning, Shayla stands in front of her mirror.

She thinks about Anthony’s words.

A small smile appears on her face.

She chooses an outfit that makes her feel confident and puts extra effort into getting ready.

She looks at herself in the mirror.

SHAYLA
If Anthony really wants a fresh start, I’m going to see how serious he is.

She picks up her phone.

A message from Anthony appears.

ANTHONY — TEXT

“Can we talk again?”

Shayla smiles.

SHAYLA — TEXT

“Maybe.”

She puts her phone down.

SCENE 5 — INT. COFFEE SHOP — AFTERNOON

Anthony sits at a table.

He looks toward the entrance.

Shayla walks in.

Anthony immediately notices her.

She approaches the table calmly.

SHAYLA
You wanted to see me?
ANTHONY
Yeah.

Shayla sits across from him.

SHAYLA
So what’s on your mind this time?
ANTHONY
You.
SHAYLA
Again?
ANTHONY
I can’t seem to stop thinking about you.

Shayla tries to hide her smile.

SHAYLA
Maybe you’re finally realizing what you lost.
ANTHONY
Maybe I am.
SHAYLA
Then don’t make the same mistakes again.
ANTHONY
I don’t want to.

SCENE 6 — EXT. SHOPPING DISTRICT — LATE AFTERNOON

Anthony and Shayla walk together.

Shayla intentionally keeps the conversation light.

She laughs at one of Anthony’s jokes.

Anthony smiles.

For the first time in a long time, he looks completely relaxed around her.

Shayla notices his reaction.

She understands that her presence is affecting him.

SHAYLA
You seem happier today.
ANTHONY
I am.
SHAYLA
Why?
ANTHONY
Because I’m with you.

Shayla pauses.

She wasn’t expecting such a direct answer.

SHAYLA
Anthony…
ANTHONY
I’m serious.

A quiet moment passes.

SCENE 7 — INT. ANTHONY’S HOUSE — NIGHT

Anthony returns home.

D’Nisha is sitting in the living room.

She immediately notices something different about him.

D’NISHA
Where were you?
ANTHONY
I went out.
D’NISHA
With who?

Anthony hesitates.

D’Nisha already senses the answer.

D’NISHA
Was it Shayla?

Anthony doesn’t respond.

That silence tells her everything.

D’NISHA
Anthony, what is going on?
ANTHONY
I don’t want to lie to you.
D’NISHA
Then don’t.

Anthony looks conflicted.

ANTHONY
I’ve realized that my feelings aren’t where they used to be.
D’NISHA
You’re saying this because of Shayla?
ANTHONY
She’s been on my mind a lot.
D’NISHA
You need to be honest with yourself before you make decisions that affect everyone.
ANTHONY
I know.

SCENE 8 — EXT. SHAYLA’S HOUSE — NIGHT

Anthony arrives outside Shayla’s house.

Shayla opens the door.

She looks surprised to see him.

SHAYLA
Anthony? What are you doing here?
ANTHONY
I needed to see you.
SHAYLA
Why?
ANTHONY
Because every time I try to convince myself to stay away, I end up thinking about you even more.

Shayla remains quiet.

ANTHONY
I don’t want to keep pretending that I don’t care.
SHAYLA
And what exactly do you want from me?
ANTHONY
A chance to start over.
SHAYLA
Starting over isn’t easy.
ANTHONY
I know.
SHAYLA
You can’t erase everything that happened.
ANTHONY
I don’t want to erase it. I just want us to learn from it.

Shayla slowly looks back at him.

SCENE 9 — INT. SHAYLA’S HOUSE — CONTINUOUS

Shayla walks inside.

Anthony remains near the doorway.

SHAYLA
If you really want a new beginning, then you have to prove that you’re serious.
ANTHONY
