Parking Lot — Day
The afternoon sun hangs over the parking lot. Brooke walks outside with Cameron, casually looking around as they head toward where she parked her car.
She suddenly stops. Her expression changes. The parking space is empty.
Brooke looks around in confusion, hoping she may have parked somewhere else. She checks the surrounding cars. Nothing. Her car is gone.
BROOKE: Wait… where’s my car?
Cameron turns toward her. He notices the empty parking space and immediately looks concerned.
CAMERON: Are you sure you parked it right here?
Brooke nods quickly. She points toward the empty space.
BROOKE: Yes, Cameron. I’m sure. This is exactly where I parked it.
Brooke walks closer to the empty spot. She looks left and right. Her breathing becomes heavier as the reality starts to sink in.
BROOKE: Oh my God… someone took my car.
Cameron steps closer to her.
CAMERON: Try not to panic. Maybe there’s some explanation.
Brooke shakes her head. She looks genuinely upset.
BROOKE: No, Cameron. I know where I parked it. My car was right here.
She takes out her phone and checks it, almost hoping to find something that explains what happened. Nothing.
BROOKE: We need to call the police.
Cameron nods.
CAMERON: Yeah. Let’s report it.
Brooke wipes her face and takes a deep breath.
BROOKE: Come on. Let’s go to the police station and file a missing-car report.
Cameron gestures toward his car.
CAMERON: Okay. Let’s go.
They quickly walk away from the empty parking space. Brooke looks back one more time. Her missing car continues to weigh heavily on her mind.
On the Way to the Police Station — Day
Cameron drives while Brooke sits in the passenger seat. Brooke keeps staring out the window. Her phone is still in her hand. She looks worried.
BROOKE: I still can’t believe this happened.
Cameron keeps his eyes on the road.
CAMERON: I know. But once we report it, the police can start looking into it.
BROOKE: I just want my car back.
Cameron gives her a reassuring look.
CAMERON: We’ll do everything we can.
Brooke looks down at her phone.
BROOKE: I should have never left it there.
Cameron shakes his head.
CAMERON: Brooke, this isn’t your fault. Just focus on getting the report filed.
Brooke takes another deep breath. She looks ahead. In the distance, the Atlanta Police Station comes into view.
Atlanta Police Station — Day
Cameron and Brooke enter the police station. The room is busy, with officers moving around and people waiting to speak with them. Brooke looks nervous. Cameron stays beside her.
They approach the front desk. An officer looks up.
OFFICER: Can I help you?
Brooke steps forward.
BROOKE: Yes, Officer. My car is missing.
The officer immediately becomes attentive.
OFFICER: Where did you last see the vehicle?
Brooke explains where she parked.
BROOKE: I parked it in a parking lot earlier today. When I came back outside, it was gone.
The officer begins taking notes.
OFFICER: Do you have the vehicle information?
Brooke quickly pulls out her phone.
BROOKE: Yes. I have all the information right here.
She shows the officer the details. Cameron stands beside her, listening carefully. The officer writes everything down.
OFFICER: Do you know approximately when you last saw the car?
Brooke thinks for a moment.
BROOKE: It was there when I left. I noticed it was missing when I came back.
The officer nods.
OFFICER: Okay. We’ll include that information in the report.
Brooke looks worried.
BROOKE: Please, Officer, I really need you to help me find it.
The officer looks at her calmly.
OFFICER: We’ll do our best to locate the vehicle.
Brooke’s eyes remain fixed on the officer. She is clearly anxious.
BROOKE: Please, Officer, find my car as soon as possible. I’m extremely worried.
Cameron gently places a hand on Brooke’s shoulder.
CAMERON: They’re going to look into it, Brooke.
Brooke nods slowly.
Filing the Report — Day
The officer continues entering the information into the system. Brooke answers every question carefully. Cameron stays beside her throughout the process.
OFFICER: Once the report is processed, the vehicle information will be entered into the system.
Brooke listens closely.
BROOKE: So if someone finds my car, you’ll be able to contact me?
OFFICER: Yes. Make sure we have the correct contact information.
Brooke confirms her details. The officer finishes the report.
OFFICER: Your report has been filed.
Brooke exhales. For a moment, she seems relieved. But the worry hasn’t disappeared.
BROOKE: Thank you, Officer. I really hope you find it.
OFFICER: We understand. If we receive any information about the vehicle, you’ll be contacted.
Brooke nods.
BROOKE: Okay. Thank you.
She steps away from the desk. Cameron walks beside her.
Outside the Police Station — Day
Brooke and Cameron walk outside. The doors close behind them. Brooke looks at Cameron.
BROOKE: I just want my car back.
Cameron nods.
CAMERON: I know. At least the police have the report now.
Brooke looks toward the road. Her expression remains worried.
BROOKE: I really hope they find it soon.
CAMERON: They’ll investigate it. Let’s stay positive.
Brooke takes a deep breath. She tries to calm herself.
BROOKE: I’m going to keep my phone with me. If the police call, I want to answer immediately.
Cameron nods.
CAMERON: That’s a good idea.
They begin walking toward Cameron’s car. Brooke looks back at the police station. She knows the search has officially begun.
Later That Day
Brooke sits quietly while Cameron drives. Her phone rests in her hand. Every few seconds, she checks the screen. No call. No message. She sighs.
CAMERON: Still nothing?
Brooke shakes her head.
BROOKE: No.
She looks out the window.
BROOKE: I just keep thinking about where my car could be.
Cameron tries to reassure her.
CAMERON: Don’t lose hope. The report is filed now, and the police know what happened.
Brooke nods.
BROOKE: I know. I just wish they could find it right now.
Cameron gives her a supportive smile.
CAMERON: We’ll wait for the update.
Brooke looks down at her phone again. Suddenly, it vibrates. She freezes. Her eyes widen.
Cameron looks over.
CAMERON: Is that the police?
Brooke looks at the screen. Her expression changes. She takes a deep breath before answering.
