Bethany’s House
Late afternoon. Bethany is inside the house, unaware that someone is about to confront her. A car suddenly pulls up outside. The engine shuts off. The door opens.
Sharra steps out, visibly furious. She takes a deep breath, walks toward the front door, and knocks hard.
SHARRA: Bethany! Come outside. We need to talk.
Inside, Bethany looks confused.
BETHANY: Who is it?
She walks toward the door and opens it. The moment she sees Sharra, her expression changes.
BETHANY: Sharra? What are you doing here?
Sharra doesn’t answer immediately. She simply stares at Bethany.
SHARRA: You really want to know why I’m here?
Bethany crosses her arms.
BETHANY: Yes. Because you just showed up at my house.
Sharra steps closer.
SHARRA: I heard what happened with Brooke.
Bethany rolls her eyes.
BETHANY: Here we go again.
SHARRA: No. Don’t do that.
Her voice becomes firmer.
SHARRA: You disrespected my daughter, and then you cursed at her.
Bethany looks defensive.
BETHANY: Brooke knows exactly what she did.
SHARRA: She is still my daughter!
The tension instantly rises.
SHARRA: If she said something disrespectful to you, you could have handled it like an adult. But you didn’t have to curse at her.
BETHANY: She came at me first!
SHARRA: And that gives you the right to say anything you want to her?
Bethany shakes her head.
BETHANY: You weren’t there. You don’t know what happened.
SHARRA: I know enough.
Sharra becomes increasingly emotional.
SHARRA: I’ve tried to stay out of your problems. I’ve tried to let things go. But when you cross the line with my daughter, I’m going to speak up.
Bethany takes a step forward.
BETHANY: You need to calm down.
SHARRA: Don’t tell me to calm down!
The argument becomes heated. Sharra suddenly pushes Bethany away in anger. Bethany loses her balance and falls to the ground.
For a moment, everything goes silent. Sharra immediately realizes how far the confrontation has escalated.
SHARRA: You should have thought about all of this before you disrespected my daughter.
Bethany looks up, furious.
BETHANY: You just put your hands on me!
SHARRA: You hurt my daughter with your words first!
BETHANY: You’re completely out of control!
SHARRA: No. I’m a mother who’s tired of watching people treat her child like she doesn’t matter.
Bethany gets back on her feet.
BETHANY: You need to leave my house.
SHARRA: Fine.
Sharra takes one final look at Bethany.
SHARRA: But remember this conversation.
Sharra turns around and walks toward her car. Bethany remains standing at the doorway, breathing heavily. Neither woman says another word.
Larry Gets the Call
Several minutes later. Larry is sitting inside, looking at his phone. His phone suddenly rings. He answers.
LARRY: Hello?
He listens. His expression slowly changes.
LARRY: Wait… what?
He sits upright.
LARRY: Sharra went to Bethany’s house?
Another pause. Larry’s face becomes serious.
LARRY: And they got into an argument?
He listens again. His eyes widen.
LARRY: Hold on. You’re telling me Sharra and Bethany actually got physical?
Larry stands up.
LARRY: Man, what is going on?
He ends the call and stares at his phone. He looks frustrated.
LARRY: This situation just keeps getting worse.
Larry Confronts Bethany
Later that evening. Bethany walks into the house. Larry is already waiting. He looks unusually serious.
BETHANY: What’s wrong?
LARRY: I heard about what happened.
Bethany immediately knows what he’s talking about.
BETHANY: Sharra told you?
LARRY: That’s not the point.
Larry shakes his head.
LARRY: Why did this situation get that far?
BETHANY: She came to my house angry.
LARRY: Because of Brooke.
Bethany becomes defensive.
BETHANY: Brooke was disrespectful to me!
LARRY: Then you should’ve walked away.
Bethany looks shocked.
BETHANY: So you’re taking Brooke’s side now?
LARRY: I’m not taking anybody’s side.
He pauses.
LARRY: I’m saying this whole situation should never have happened.
BETHANY: You weren’t there either.
LARRY: And neither was Sharra.
Larry looks directly at Bethany.
LARRY: But somehow everybody is fighting over what happened.
Bethany looks away.
LARRY: You can’t keep letting every disagreement turn into a bigger problem.
BETHANY: She came to my house!
LARRY: And you both should have walked away.
Bethany becomes emotional.
BETHANY: So what am I supposed to do when people keep coming after me?
LARRY: Talk. Set boundaries. Leave the situation.
Larry takes a breath.
LARRY: Don’t let anger make decisions for you.
Larry Calls Sharra
Larry picks up his phone. He hesitates before dialing Sharra. The call connects.
LARRY: Sharra, I just heard what happened.
Sharra remains quiet.
SHARRA: She disrespected my daughter, Larry.
LARRY: I understand you’re angry.
SHARRA: No, you don’t.
LARRY: Maybe I don’t completely understand how you feel.
He pauses.
LARRY: But this can’t keep escalating.
SHARRA: I wasn’t going to let her treat Brooke like that.
LARRY: You can defend your daughter without this becoming another huge family problem.
Sharra takes a deep breath.
SHARRA: She crossed a line.
LARRY: And now you crossed one too.
Silence. Sharra doesn’t respond.
LARRY: Everybody needs to step back before somebody makes this even worse.
The Aftermath
The next morning. Bethany sits quietly in the living room. She looks frustrated and exhausted. Her phone buzzes. She looks at the screen. It’s a message from Larry.
LARRY (TEXT): We need to talk later. No arguing. Just a conversation.
Bethany stares at the message. She
