Rain taps softly against the windows. The room is dim, lit only by a warm lamp in the corner. Amber stands near the window, her hands tightly clasped together. Wayne is a few feet behind her, tense and silent.
The front door suddenly opens. Dave walks in.
AMBER

Wayne… I think Dave has found out about us.

Wayne looks at her. For a moment, neither of them speaks.
WAYNE

Amber, we can’t hide our feelings anymore.

Amber lowers her eyes. The words hang heavily in the room. Dave stares at them, confused and hurt.
DAVE

Wait… how long has this been going on between you two?

AMBER

Dave, please… just hear me out first.

Dave lets out a bitter laugh. He looks from Amber to Wayne.
DAVE

Now I understand why you were so nervous.

Amber takes a hesitant step toward him.
AMBER

It wasn’t supposed to happen like this.

DAVE

Silence fills the room. Wayne finally steps forward.
WAYNE

Dave, whatever is going on, we don’t want to hide anything from you.

DAVE

Dave looks away, struggling to control his emotions. The rain outside grows louder.

AMBER
