SCENE 1 — BETHANY’S HOUSE — LIVING ROOM — EVENING

Bethany stands near the window, staring outside.
LARRY sits across the room, his expression serious.

Bethany, we need to be honest with each other.
Bethany turns around.

Larry looks at her.
LARRY

And now Brooke is calling him her brother.
A tear rolls down her cheek.

Bethany smiles through her tears.

Bethany looks at him.

LARRY

Bethany says nothing.

I can’t promise that everything between us will suddenly become perfect.
Bethany nods.
LARRY
But I can promise that I won’t abandon this family.
Bethany looks down at the baby.

Brooke smiles from the couch.
