THE MAC & CHEESE WAR
A dramatic moment between Amber, Dave, and D’Nisha
INT. ANTHONY’S HOUSE – DINING ROOM – EVENING
The dining room is filled with laughter and conversation.
A large table sits in the center of the room, covered with plates, serving dishes, drinks, and two trays of homemade mac and cheese.
One tray belongs to Amber.
The other belongs to D’Nisha.
Everyone seems to have made their choice.
Amber stands a few feet away, watching the room carefully.
At first, she smiles.
Then her smile slowly disappears.
AMBER NOTICES
She notices everyone reaching for D’Nisha’s mac and cheese.
Fork after fork.
Plate after plate.
Nobody touches hers.
Amber looks down at her own untouched dish.
Her expression tightens.
She slowly looks around the table.
“Seriously?”
D’NISHA
“I’m glad everybody likes it.”
DAVE
“Yeah, this is definitely good.”
Amber immediately looks toward Dave.
Her eyes lock onto him.
Dave is sitting at the table with a plate in front of him.
On the plate is D’Nisha’s mac and cheese.
Amber stares.
She looks at her own untouched dish.
Then back at Dave.
Her irritation grows.
AMBER’S ANGER BUILDS
Amber takes a slow breath.
She tries to stay calm.
But her expression says otherwise.
Dave takes another bite.
Amber watches him carefully.
“Nobody even tried mine.”
DAVE COMPLIMENTS D’NISHA
Dave suddenly puts his fork down.
He wipes his hands and gets up from his chair.
Amber immediately watches him.
She expects him to walk toward her.
Instead, Dave walks straight toward D’Nisha.
Amber’s eyes widen.
DAVE
“That mac and cheese was really good.”
D’NISHA
“Really?”
DAVE
“Yeah. You did a great job with it.”
D’Nisha smiles.
Amber watches from across the room.
Her expression changes instantly.
AMBER IS FURIOUS
She is no longer simply annoyed.
She is furious.
Dave continues talking to D’Nisha.
They laugh together.
Amber’s jaw tightens.
She watches them laughing together.
Her eyes move from Dave to D’Nisha.
Then back to Dave.
“Of course.”
THE CONFRONTATION
Amber slowly walks closer.
She doesn’t say anything yet.
She simply watches.
Dave notices something funny D’Nisha says and laughs.
Amber’s expression becomes colder.
She folds her arms tightly across her chest.
AMBER
“So everybody ignores my food… but you can stand over here praising hers?”
FINAL MOMENT
The room becomes quiet.
Nobody wants to get involved.
Amber looks at Dave.
Then she looks at D’Nisha.
She takes a deep breath.
Amber turns toward her untouched mac and cheese.
She stares at it for a moment.
Then she looks back at Dave and D’Nisha.
Dave is still standing beside D’Nisha.
Amber’s eyes narrow once again.
Amber walks away, but the anger on her face makes it clear that this argument is far from over.
