Divorce Papers and a New Secret
A dramatic story of anger, paperwork, and one shocking discovery
The Joke That Started Everything
It was an ordinary afternoon, and Larry and Bethany were together at home. Everything seemed calm at first, but there was already a little tension in the room. Larry, who often used humor to lighten uncomfortable situations, decided to tease Bethany about something from the past. He looked at her with a mischievous smile and said, “Bethany, you gave Brook the same name again, remember?”
Larry expected her to laugh or at least roll her eyes. Instead, Bethany’s expression immediately changed. The playful mood disappeared from the room, and her irritation became obvious. She stared at Larry and warned him not to push her buttons.
Larry quickly realized that his joke had gone too far. He raised his hands slightly and stepped back, trying to show that he was only joking. But before either of them could say anything else, a loud sound came from the front door.
An Unexpected Visitor
The doorbell rang. Both of them stopped talking and looked toward the hallway. For a moment, neither person moved. The bell rang again, and Larry finally walked toward the door.
When he opened it, a courier was standing outside with a large brown envelope in his hands. The courier checked the address, then looked at Larry and Bethany. “Larry and Bethany?” he asked.
Larry nodded. The courier handed him the envelope and calmly explained that it contained their divorce documents. The words instantly changed the atmosphere. Larry looked at Bethany, and Bethany looked back at him. Neither of them expected the paperwork to arrive at that exact moment.
The Divorce Papers Finally Arrive
Larry slowly looked at the envelope. Despite the seriousness of the situation, he could not resist making another joke. He smiled and said, “Finally! I thought these papers were stuck in Zamunda somewhere!”
Bethany did not laugh. She took the envelope from Larry, placed it carefully on the table, and opened it. The papers inside were neatly organized, with several pages filled with legal language and spaces for signatures.
She took a deep breath and looked at Larry. “Today, no matter what happens, we’re signing these papers,” she said firmly. Her voice sounded determined, as if she wanted the entire chapter of their lives to end before the day was over.
Two Pens, One Final Decision
Larry pulled out a chair and sat beside her. Bethany placed the documents in front of them. Both picked up pens and prepared to sign. For a few moments, there was nothing but silence. The joking and arguing were gone. They were now facing a decision that could permanently change their lives.
Larry signed where he was instructed to sign. Bethany followed him, carefully writing her name on the appropriate lines. Page after page was completed. The closer they came to the final page, the more serious the atmosphere became.
Larry glanced at Bethany once or twice, but she remained focused on the documents. It seemed that the divorce was finally going to be completed without another argument. Then Bethany turned the last page.
The Name That Changed Everything
Bethany suddenly froze. Her pen stopped in midair. She leaned closer to the page and read the final section again. Her eyes widened as she noticed something neither of them had expected.
“Wait,” she whispered.
Larry looked over. “What is it?”
Bethany pointed at a section near the bottom of the page. There, among the legal details, was the name of a third person. It was not Larry’s name. It was not Bethany’s name. Somehow, another person’s name had appeared in the divorce documents.
Larry leaned toward the page. The smile disappeared from his face almost immediately. He read the name carefully, then read it again. His expression changed from confusion to concern. Whatever this was, it was clearly not something either of them had been prepared to see.
A Secret Waiting to Be Revealed
Bethany looked at Larry, waiting for an explanation. Larry looked back at her, but for the first time that afternoon, he had no joke to make. The room suddenly felt much smaller. The divorce papers that were supposed to close one chapter had unexpectedly opened another.
Questions immediately filled Bethany’s mind. Who was this person? Why was the name included in their official paperwork? Was it a simple clerical mistake, or had someone deliberately added the name? And most importantly, what did Larry know about it?
Larry slowly put his pen down. Bethany did the same. Neither of them was thinking about signing anymore. The divorce could wait. Something far more important had just appeared on the final page.
What had started as a harmless joke had turned into a serious mystery. The envelope had arrived with a simple purpose, but the final page had changed everything. Now Larry and Bethany had to find out why a third person had suddenly become part of their story.
The Real Story Was Just Beginning
The divorce papers were ready. The pens were in their hands. But before the signatures could be completed, a hidden connection had surfaced—and neither Larry nor Bethany was ready for the truth.
