WHEN SHAYLA BREAKS DOWN IN FRONT OF HONEY POT — HONEY POT OFFERS TO HELP
A Cinematic Emotional Story
SCENE 1 — INT. SHAYLA’S HOUSE — LATE AFTERNOON
The house is unusually quiet.
Shayla sits on the edge of the couch, staring at her phone. Several unanswered messages fill the screen.
She slowly puts the phone down.
Her eyes are tired, and her expression shows how overwhelmed she feels.
A knock comes from the front door.
Shayla wipes her face quickly and stands.
She opens the door.
Honey Pot is standing outside.
Hey, Shayla. You okay?
Shayla forces a small smile.
Yeah… I’m okay.
Honey Pot looks at her carefully.
She can tell something is wrong.
You don’t look okay.
Shayla looks away.
For a moment, she says nothing.
Honey Pot steps inside and closes the door behind her.
SCENE 2 — INT. SHAYLA’S LIVING ROOM — CONTINUOUS
Honey Pot sits beside Shayla.
Shayla keeps her hands together, trying to control her emotions.
Talk to me. What happened?
Shayla takes a deep breath.
I’ve been trying to figure everything out by myself.
Honey Pot listens quietly.
I didn’t want to bother anybody. I kept telling myself I could handle it.
Shayla looks down.
But I can’t anymore.
A tear rolls down her cheek.
Shayla, what do you need?
Shayla hesitates.
Money.
Honey Pot remains silent, allowing her to explain.
I’m short on what I need, and I’ve been trying to find a way to cover it.
She wipes her eyes.
I asked everyone I could think of.
Her voice cracks.
I asked people I thought would help me.
She pauses.
But nobody helped me.
Honey Pot’s expression softens.
SCENE 3 — INT. SHAYLA’S LIVING ROOM — MOMENTS LATER
Shayla finally lets her emotions come out.
She covers her face with both hands.
I don’t understand.
Her voice is barely above a whisper.
I’ve helped people when they needed me.
She lowers her hands.
And now that I need somebody, everybody suddenly has an excuse.
Honey Pot shakes her head.
Don’t think about it that way.
Shayla looks at her.
Sometimes people don’t know what someone else is going through.
I know.
Shayla takes another breath.
But it still hurts.
Of course it does.
She reaches for a box of tissues and hands it to Shayla.
You don’t have to pretend you’re strong every second.
Shayla takes the tissue.
I just feel embarrassed.
There’s nothing embarrassing about asking for help.
Shayla looks at her with surprise.
SCENE 4 — INT. SHAYLA’S LIVING ROOM — CONTINUOUS
Honey Pot thinks for a moment.
Then she speaks with confidence.
How much are you short?
Shayla hesitates.
I don’t even want to say it.
Shayla.
Honey Pot looks directly at her.
Tell me.
Shayla finally gives her the amount.
Honey Pot nods slowly.
There is a brief silence.
Then Honey Pot gives Shayla a reassuring smile.
Don’t worry.
Shayla looks up.
I will personally help you with half of the money you need.
Shayla freezes.
She wasn’t expecting that answer.
What?
You heard me.
Honey Pot smiles gently.
I’m not going to let you sit here feeling like you’re completely alone.
Shayla’s eyes immediately fill with tears again.
But this time, they are tears of relief.
Honey Pot…
She struggles to find the right words.
You don’t have to do that.
I know I don’t have to.
Honey Pot pauses.
I’m doing it because I want to help.
SCENE 5 — INT. SHAYLA’S LIVING ROOM — LATER
Shayla sits quietly, processing Honey Pot’s words.
The tension in her face has started to disappear.
I honestly didn’t know what I was going to do.
You don’t have to figure everything out tonight.
I asked so many people.
She shakes her head.
Nobody even offered to help me with a little bit.
And that’s exactly why I’m telling you this.
Don’t measure your worth by who says yes or no when you ask for something.
Shayla listens carefully.
People have their own problems. Sometimes they can’t help.
But that doesn’t mean you don’t deserve support.
Shayla nods.
I needed to hear that.
SCENE 6 — INT. SHAYLA’S KITCHEN — EVENING
Honey Pot and Shayla move into the kitchen.
Shayla prepares two glasses of water.
For the first time that day, she seems calmer.
