THE LAWYER’S OFFICE
A quiet, expensive lawyer’s office.
Tall glass windows overlook the city. Files are neatly arranged across a large wooden desk. A clock on the wall ticks slowly, filling the uncomfortable silence.
Anthony sits on one side of the conference table. His expression is calm, but his eyes reveal that he has already made a difficult decision.
Across from him sits Amber. She looks confident, almost as if she already knows she is going to get exactly what she wants.
Denisha sits beside Amber, watching everything carefully.
The lawyer opens a thick divorce file and places it in front of Anthony.
Anthony nods.
He takes a deep breath.
Amber looks at him.
Anthony looks directly into her eyes.
A pause.
Amber leans forward.
The lawyer slowly turns a page.
Amber’s expression immediately changes. She stares at the lawyer in disbelief.
Anthony remains silent.
Amber turns toward him.
Amber lets out a bitter laugh.
Anthony looks down at the documents.
Silence fills the room.
Amber slowly looks at her.
Anthony immediately senses the tension.
But Denisha continues.
The room goes completely silent.
Amber’s face changes. Her breathing becomes heavier. Her hands tighten into fists.
Amber suddenly stands. Her chair scrapes loudly against the floor.
Denisha also stands.
Amber loses control and lunges toward Denisha.
Amber grabs Denisha and the two stumble against the side of the conference table.
Denisha tries to push Amber away.
Anthony rushes toward them and tries to separate them.
The fight becomes chaotic. A stack of legal documents falls from the table and scatters across the floor.
Finally, Anthony manages to separate them.
Denisha steps backward, breathing heavily. Her hair is disheveled, and visible marks are beginning to appear on her skin.
Denisha doesn’t answer. She simply stares at Amber.
Amber says nothing. She looks away.
Anthony turns toward Amber. His expression has changed.
He points toward the lawyer’s office.
Amber finally looks around.
Papers are scattered everywhere. A chair has been pushed aside. The peaceful atmosphere of the office is completely destroyed.
Anthony nods.
Sam sits on the sofa, looking through his phone. His expression is relaxed.
A notification appears.
He opens it.
His face immediately changes.
Another message arrives.
He stands.
He begins pacing across the room.
The lawyer sits behind his desk. Anthony stands across from him. Denisha sits quietly nearby.
Anthony looks toward Denisha.
Denisha looks at him.
Anthony doesn’t answer immediately.
He looks toward the closed office door.
Sam stands by the window. His phone is still in his hand.
He looks deeply troubled.
He pauses.
The camera slowly moves away from him.
The lights of the city glow through the window.
Somewhere across the city, Amber sits alone, staring at nothing.
Her anger is still there.
But now, for the first time, there is fear behind it.
