SCENE 1 — ISAIAH’S HOUSE — LIVING ROOM — EVENING

The front door opens.

BETHANY and LARRY step inside. Bethany looks tense but determined. Larry follows quietly, already sensing that the conversation ahead could become difficult.

ISAIAH’S MOTHER stands near the living room, surprised to see them.

ISAIAH’S MOTHER

Bethany? Larry? What are you two doing here?

Bethany takes a slow breath.

She looks directly at Isaiah’s mother.

BETHANY

We came because there is something you need to know.

Isaiah’s mother studies her suspiciously.

ISAIAH’S MOTHER

Something about what?

Larry shifts uncomfortably.

Bethany steps forward.

BETHANY

About Brooke and Isaiah.

Isaiah’s mother immediately becomes more serious.

ISAIAH’S MOTHER

What about them?

Bethany hesitates for only a moment.

BETHANY

I think we need to arrange their marriage.

Silence fills the room.

Isaiah’s mother stares at Bethany in disbelief.

Bethany nods.

Bethany keeps her voice steady.

BETHANY

Bethany’s eyes narrow.

And you think screaming at me will make the truth disappear?

ISAIAH’S MOTHER

There is no truth in what you’re saying!

Larry raises his hands.

LARRY

Enough! Both of you!

Neither woman listens.

Bethany points toward the hallway.

BETHANY

When Brooke comes home, you should ask her yourself.

Isaiah’s mother suddenly turns toward the hallway.

ISAIAH’S MOTHER

Where is she?

Bethany stays silent.

Larry looks toward the front door.

LARRY

She should be here soon.

Isaiah’s mother turns back to Bethany.

ISAIAH’S MOTHER

You brought Larry here because you knew you couldn’t face me alone.

Bethany looks offended.

BETHANY

I brought Larry because this concerns his daughter too.

Larry closes his eyes for a moment, overwhelmed by the argument.

LARRY

This isn’t helping anyone.

SCENE 3 — THE CONFRONTATION

Isaiah’s mother steps toward Bethany.

ISAIAH’S MOTHER

Take back what you said.

Bethany doesn’t move.

BETHANY

No.

ISAIAH’S MOTHER

Take it back!

BETHANY

I won’t.

The tension reaches its breaking point.

Isaiah’s mother angrily gestures toward the door.

ISAIAH’S MOTHER

Then get out of my house!

Bethany shakes her head.

BETHANY

Not until you understand what this means for Brooke.

ISAIAH’S MOTHER

I understand perfectly. You’re trying to force my son into a marriage!

BETHANY

I’m saying Brooke deserves support.

ISAIAH’S MOTHER

And Isaiah deserves the truth!

BETHANY

Then let him hear it from Brooke!

The two women move closer.

Their voices rise.

Larry immediately steps between them.

LARRY

Stop! Both of you!

Isaiah’s mother pushes past him.

Bethany refuses to step away.

ISAIAH’S MOTHER

You have no right to come here and accuse my son!

BETHANY

And you have no right to ignore Brooke!

The argument suddenly becomes physical.

The two women grab at each other as Larry tries desperately to separate them.

LARRY

Bethany! Stop!

The front door suddenly swings open.

BROOKE and ISAIAH rush inside.

Both freeze when they see the chaos.

BROOKE

Mom!

ISAIAH

What is happening?!

Brooke quickly moves toward the two women.

Isaiah grabs his mother and pulls her back.

Larry holds Bethany away from her.

LARRY

That’s enough!

Everyone stops.

The room falls silent except for heavy breathing.

SCENE 4 — THE TRUTH COMES OUT

Brooke looks frightened and confused.

BROOKE

Why are you fighting?

Bethany looks at Brooke.

Isaiah’s mother looks at Isaiah.

Nobody answers immediately.

Isaiah finally turns toward Bethany.

ISAIAH

What did you tell my mother?

Bethany takes a breath.

BETHANY

I told her the truth.

Brooke’s expression changes.

Isaiah looks at Brooke.

ISAIAH

Brooke?

Brooke looks down.

Isaiah’s mother immediately notices her reaction.

ISAIAH’S MOTHER

Brooke… is it true?

Brooke remains silent.

Larry looks toward Brooke, waiting for her answer.

LARRY

Brooke, you need to tell everyone what’s going on.

Brooke slowly raises her eyes.

BROOKE

I didn’t want everyone to find out like this.

Isaiah takes a step toward her.

ISAIAH

So it is true?

Brooke’s eyes fill with emotion.

BROOKE

Yes.

The room goes completely silent.

Isaiah looks stunned.

His mother covers her mouth, struggling to process the revelation.

Larry looks at Bethany, then at Brooke.

LARRY

Why didn’t you tell us?

Brooke wipes away a tear.

BROOKE

Because I was scared.

Isaiah looks toward his mother.

ISAIAH

Mom…

His mother shakes her head, overwhelmed.

She turns away.

Bethany’s anger begins to fade as she sees Brooke’s emotional state.

I didn’t come here to hurt anyone.

Isaiah’s mother turns back.

Then why did you demand a marriage?

Bethany looks at Brooke.

Isaiah steps closer to Brooke.

Brooke looks at him.

BROOKE

Isaiah lowers his voice.

I believe you now.

Larry exhales slowly.

LARRY

Then everyone needs to stop fighting and start thinking about what happens next.

Isaiah’s mother looks at Brooke.

Her anger has disappeared, replaced by uncertainty.

ISAIAH’S MOTHER

If this baby is my son’s, then we have a lot to talk about.

Brooke nods quietly.

Bethany steps back.

For the first time that evening, nobody is shouting.
