SCENE 1 — AMBER’S HOUSE — MORNING
Soft sunlight fills the room.

Amber stands in front of the mirror wearing her wedding dress. She looks happy, peaceful, and completely ready for a new beginning.
AMBER Today, everything finally changes.
She picks up her phone and looks at a picture of Dave.
AMBER Anthony is officially out of my life. Now I can finally marry the man I love.
Dave enters wearing his suit. He stops for a moment when he sees Amber.
DAVE Wow. You look beautiful.
AMBER What?
DAVE After everything we’ve been through, I can’t believe this day is finally here.
AMBER Neither can I.
SCENE 2 — OUTSIDE THE CHURCH — LATER
Guests arrive at the church. Music plays as people take their seats.

Amber and Dave arrive together. They look at each other before walking inside.
DAVE Ready?
AMBER More than ready.
They walk into the church. The room is beautifully decorated. Everyone turns toward the couple.

Amber and Dave walk toward the altar. The Father smiles as they stand before him.
SCENE 3 — THE CEREMONY BEGINS
The church becomes quiet.

The Father looks at Amber and Dave.
FATHER We are gathered here today to witness the union of two people who have chosen to build a life together.
Amber looks at Dave. Dave smiles back.

The Father continues.
FATHER Before we continue, is there anyone here who has a reason why these two should not be married?
Silence.

Amber lets out a small relieved smile.
BANG!
The church doors suddenly swing open.

Everyone turns around.

Amber’s smile disappears. Dave slowly turns toward the entrance.

Two people stand there.

Anthony.
And Evelyn.
SCENE 4 — THE SHOCKING REVEAL
The entire church becomes silent.

Amber’s eyes widen.
AMBER Anthony? What is he doing here?
Anthony slowly walks down the aisle with Evelyn beside him.

But then the guests notice something else.

Evelyn’s hand is resting on her stomach.

She is pregnant.

Whispers spread throughout the church.
DAVE Evelyn?
EVELYN I’m sorry, Dave. But everyone deserves to know the truth.
AMBER What truth?
Evelyn looks directly at Dave and places her hand over her stomach.
EVELYN The baby I’m carrying… is Dave’s.
THE ENTIRE CHURCH IS STUNNED.
SCENE 5 — AMBER DEMANDS ANSWERS
Amber stands completely still. Her eyes are locked on Dave.

Dave shakes his head.
DAVE No. Evelyn, this isn’t the place for this.
EVELYN I didn’t want to come here.
DAVE Then why did you?
EVELYN Because nobody told Amber.
Amber turns toward Dave.
AMBER Dave, I need you to tell me the truth.
DAVE Amber, I swear I didn’t know about the pregnancy.
AMBER But did you know Evelyn was in your life?
Dave doesn’t answer immediately.

Amber looks away, realizing that there is more to this story than she expected.
SCENE 6 — ANTHONY SPEAKS
ANTHONY Amber, I knew she was going to tell Dave.
AMBER And you let me walk down that aisle?
ANTHONY I didn’t know what she was going to say.
DAVE Anthony, stay out of this.
ANTHONY I’m not the one standing at an altar with a secret following me.
Dave becomes silent.

Amber looks between Dave, Evelyn, and Anthony, trying to understand how everything changed so quickly.
SCENE 7 — THE WEDDING FALLS APART
The Father steps forward.
FATHER Everyone, please remain calm. This ceremony cannot continue while there is such a serious matter between you.
Amber looks toward the altar with emotional eyes.
AMBER I waited so long for this day.
DAVE And I still want to marry you.
AMBER How can I marry you when another woman is standing in this church carrying your child?
Dave lowers his head.

No one speaks.

The dream wedding has completely fallen apart.
SCENE 8 — AMBER WALKS AWAY
Amber turns toward the church doors and takes a slow breath.
AMBER I need to leave.
DAVE Amber, wait!
AMBER Don’t follow me.
Dave freezes.

Amber finally turns around.
AMBER Today was supposed to be the day I finally stopped looking at my past.
AMBER But now I don’t even know what my future looks like.
Amber walks toward the doors.

Dave remains at the altar. Evelyn stands nearby with her hand over her stomach. Anthony watches everything unfold.

Just before Amber reaches the door, she stops and turns back.
AMBER If that baby really is yours… then you and I have a lot more to talk about.
Amber walks out.

The church doors slowly close behind her.

Dave stands alone at the altar, realizing that the wedding he dreamed about may have just ended before it even began.
