Scene 1 — Sharra Tells Larry the Truth
The room is quiet. Larry sits comfortably on the couch, distracted by his phone. Sharra stands nearby, looking worried. She takes a deep breath before speaking.
SHARRA: Larry, I need to tell you something.
Larry barely looks up from his phone.
LARRY: What is it?
Sharra hesitates.
SHARRA: My mom escaped from jail.
Larry pauses for only a second. Then he looks back at his phone.
LARRY: Okay.
Sharra stares at him, shocked by his reaction.
SHARRA: “Okay”? Larry, this is serious. She’s out there somewhere.
Larry shrugs.
LARRY: There’s nothing we can do about it right now.
Sharra’s face falls. She was expecting concern. Instead, she feels completely ignored.
SHARRA: I thought you’d at least care.
Larry sighs.
LARRY: Sharra, I have a lot going on right now. I don’t want to get involved in this.
Sharra slowly nods. Her eyes become watery.
SHARRA: Right… I understand.
But her voice tells a different story. She doesn’t understand. She’s hurt.
Scene 2 — Sharra Feels Alone
Sharra sits on the edge of her bed. The room is dark except for the soft light coming from her phone. She looks at Larry’s messages. There are no comforting words. No phone call. No concern. Nothing.
Sharra wipes a tear from her cheek.
SHARRA: Maybe he really doesn’t care anymore.
She lowers her phone.
SHARRA: Maybe I’m the only one still trying.

SHARRA: I can’t keep begging someone to value me.
She takes a deep breath. Then she picks up her phone again. This time, she calls Dre.
Scene 3 — Sharra Calls Dre
Dre answers the phone.
DRE: Hey, Sharra. What’s going on?
Sharra tries to keep her voice steady.
SHARRA: Dre… can I ask you something?
DRE: Of course. What’s wrong?
There is a brief silence.
SHARRA: I need someone who actually cares about me.
Dre immediately becomes serious.
DRE: Sharra, you know I care about you.
Sharra closes her eyes.
SHARRA: Then I want to ask you something.
Dre waits.
SHARRA: I want us to get married.
Dre is stunned. He doesn’t say anything for a moment.
DRE: Married?
SHARRA: Yes.
Her voice trembles.
SHARRA: I don’t want to keep waiting for someone to realize my worth. I want someone who chooses me.
Dre’s expression softens.
DRE: Sharra… if you’re sure about this, then yes.
Sharra looks surprised.
SHARRA: You mean it?
DRE: I do.
A small smile appears through Sharra’s tears.
Scene 4 — The Decision
Sharra sits quietly after ending the call. She knows the decision she’s making will change everything. She looks at an old picture of herself and Larry. For a moment, she becomes emotional. Then she puts the picture down.
SHARRA: I’m choosing myself this time.
She wipes her tears. Her decision is made.
Scene 5 — The Wedding Morning
The sun shines brightly over the church. Sharra arrives wearing a beautiful wedding dress. Dre stands outside waiting for her. When he sees her, his face lights up.
DRE: You look beautiful.
Sharra smiles.
SHARRA: Thank you.
Dre gently takes her hand. They walk into the church together.
Scene 6 — The Wedding
The church is peaceful. Sharra and Dre stand facing each other. The pastor looks between them.
PASTOR: Do you both promise to stand beside each other through good times and difficult times?
Dre looks directly into Sharra’s eyes.
DRE: I do.
Sharra takes a breath.

They exchange rings. Sharra’s eyes fill with tears. But these are different tears. For the first time in a long time, she feels like someone has chosen her.
Dre gently holds her hand.
PASTOR: I now pronounce you husband and wife.
Dre smiles. Sharra smiles through her tears. They embrace. The people inside the church applaud.
Scene 7 — Larry Finds Out
Larry sits on the couch, scrolling through his phone. Suddenly, a message appears. He opens it. His expression immediately changes. He sees a picture of Sharra and Dre at the church. They are standing together as husband and wife.
Larry freezes. His smile disappears.
LARRY: What…?
He stares at the screen. He reads the message again. Sharra married Dre. Larry slowly puts his phone down. For the first time, the reality hits him. Sharra is no longer waiting for him.
LARRY: She actually married him…
Larry stands up and begins walking around the room. He looks confused. Then angry. Then hurt. He picks up his phone again. He looks at Sharra’s picture.
LARRY: How could she move on that fast?
He stops. His own words suddenly come back to him. He remembers how he ignored her when she told him about her mother. He remembers telling her that he didn’t want to get involved. Larry’s expression changes. Now he realizes something painful. He was the one who pushed her away.

Larry sits down slowly. His eyes remain fixed on the wedding picture.
LARRY: She needed me…
He lowers his head.
LARRY: And I wasn’t there.
A long silence fills the room. Larry takes a deep breath.
LARRY: I thought she’d always be there.
His voice becomes emotional.
LARRY: I thought I could ignore her and she’d still come back.
He looks at the picture one more time. Sharra is smiling. But now that smile belongs to someone else. Larry’s eyes become watery.
LARRY: I really lost her.
He doesn’t call. He doesn’t know what to say. For the first time, Larry understands the consequences of taking someone for granted.
Scene 9 — Sharra’s New Life
Sharra and Dre walk outside together. Dre holds her hand. Sharra looks back at the church for a moment. She thinks about everything that brought her to this day. Her mother. Larry. The loneliness. The tears.
Then she looks at Dre. He smiles at her.
DRE: Ready to start our new life?
Sharra smiles.
SHARRA: Yes.
She takes his hand more tightly. They walk away together. Behind them, the church doors slowly close.
Final Scene — Larry’s Realization
Larry sits alone in the darkness. The wedding picture is still open on his phone. He looks at it one last time.
LARRY: I should’ve listened.
He closes his eyes.
LARRY: I should’ve cared.
A tear rolls down his cheek. He slowly locks his phone. The screen goes black. Larry sits there in silence. Meanwhile, Sharra has already started a new chapter of her life.
Sometimes, losing someone isn’t about them leaving. Sometimes… it’s about realizing too late that your own actions made them walk away.
