Brenda’s Voice – A Story of Fear and Love

Brenda’s Voice

A Dramatic Story of Love, Fear, and an Unborn Child

The Strange Laughter

When Terry arrived home that evening, he immediately knew that something was different. The house was unusually quiet, yet he could hear Genesis laughing from the living room. It was not an ordinary laugh. It was soft, repeated, and strangely cheerful, as if she were having a private conversation with someone.

Terry walked into the room and found Genesis sitting comfortably on the sofa. She was heavily pregnant and had both hands resting protectively over her stomach. She smiled at him before looking down at her belly.

“Brenda, look! Daddy is home,” Genesis whispered happily.

Terry stopped in his tracks. He stared at her for several seconds before asking who Brenda was.

“Brenda is my baby,” Genesis replied with a smile. “She’s right here.”

The Baby She Could Hear

Terry knew that Genesis was expecting a baby, but they had never agreed on a final name. What frightened him most was the way Genesis spoke as though the unborn child could actually answer her.

Sometimes she called the baby Brenda. Other times she used completely different names, calling her a little princess or her best friend. She would pause after asking a question, listen silently, and then answer herself as though the baby had responded.

“Brenda says Daddy looks worried today,” Genesis said, laughing.

Terry forced a smile, but inside he was terrified. He tried to convince himself that Genesis was simply excited about becoming a mother. However, her behavior had been changing for weeks. She talked to herself, laughed at things nobody else could see, and sometimes became extremely anxious about the safety of the baby.

A Frightening Morning

The next morning, Terry woke up early and discovered Genesis standing in front of the bedroom mirror. She was smiling at her reflection while gently touching her stomach.

“Brenda, you look beautiful today,” Genesis whispered.

Terry slowly approached her. He looked into the mirror, but there was nobody else in the room.

“Genesis, who are you talking to?”

She turned around and looked at him with complete seriousness.

“Why do you keep asking me that? Brenda is here. Can’t you hear her?”

Terry felt a chill run through him. He wanted to argue, but he realized that confronting Genesis aggressively would only make the situation worse.

Terry’s Growing Fear

Throughout the day, Genesis became increasingly unpredictable. One moment she was laughing, and the next she was crying because she believed something terrible might happen to her baby.

She repeatedly checked her stomach and whispered reassuring words to the unborn child. Terry tried to comfort her, but nothing seemed to calm her for long.

Terry’s biggest fear: He was no longer sure whether Genesis understood what was happening around her. He loved his wife and unborn child, but he knew that something was seriously wrong and that professional help was needed.

He began wondering what he should do. He did not want Genesis to feel abandoned or frightened, but he also could not ignore the changes he was witnessing.

The Difficult Decision

That evening, Terry called several close friends and explained everything. He told them about Genesis talking to the baby, changing the baby’s name, laughing alone, and insisting that she could hear Brenda responding to her.

His friends listened carefully. They reminded Terry that Genesis was pregnant and that sudden or severe changes in behavior should be taken seriously. Instead of trying to handle everything alone, they encouraged him to seek professional medical and mental-health support.

Terry finally realized that asking for help did not mean he had failed his wife. It meant that he was trying to protect her and their unborn child.

He decided to take Genesis to a medical facility where professionals could properly evaluate her mental state while also monitoring her pregnancy and the baby’s health.

The Final Whisper

When Terry returned to speak with Genesis, he found her sitting quietly on the edge of the bed. For the first time that day, she was not laughing.

Terry sat beside her and gently held her hand. He told her that he wanted to take her somewhere safe, where doctors could help her and make sure that she and the baby remained healthy.

Genesis looked at him for a long moment. Then she slowly placed her hand over her stomach.

“Brenda says we’re not ready to leave yet.”

Terry’s heart stopped for a moment. He looked at Genesis, then at her stomach. He knew there was no way an unborn baby could simply answer him, yet Genesis seemed completely convinced that she had heard a voice.

As Terry helped her stand, Genesis smiled mysteriously and whispered one final word:

“Brenda.”

Terry had no idea what the future held. But one thing was certain: before the baby arrived, he needed to make sure that Genesis received the help she needed.
