SCENE 1 — LARRY AND BETHANY’S HOUSE — EVENING

The house is unusually quiet. Larry walks through the living room, clearly worried about the situation involving Sharra’s mother. He knows that bringing her into the house could create serious problems, but he also feels that she needs help.

Bethany watches Larry carefully. She can tell that he is planning something, and she decides that she cannot remain silent.

BETHANY
“Larry, I need to talk to you.”

Larry stops and turns toward her.

LARRY
“What is it?”

BETHANY
“If you bring Sharra’s mother into this house, I’m going to tell the police everything.”

Larry’s expression immediately becomes serious.

LARRY
“What are you talking about?”

BETHANY
“I’m telling you exactly what I mean. If she ran away and you brought her here, I’ll tell the police.”

SCENE 2 — BETHANY’S WARNING

Bethany refuses to back down. She believes Larry needs to understand how serious the situation could become.

BETHANY
“Larry, you need to understand what could happen. If the police find out that you helped her, they could question you too.”

Larry shakes his head.

LARRY
“Bethany, you don’t know everything that’s going on.”

BETHANY
“Then explain it to me.”

Larry remains silent for a moment.

BETHANY
“I’m not going to sit here and pretend nothing is happening. If you bring her into this house, I’m calling the police.”

Larry looks at Bethany in disbelief.

LARRY
“You would really do that?”

BETHANY
“Yes, I will.”

The tension between them grows stronger.

SCENE 3 — LARRY LOSES HIS TEMPER

Larry takes a deep breath, but Bethany’s warning continues to frustrate him.

LARRY
“Bethany, I’m warning you. Don’t make this worse.”

BETHANY
“What are you going to do? You can’t stop me from telling the truth.”

The argument suddenly becomes heated. Larry loses his temper and strikes Bethany. She steps back, shocked by what just happened.

BETHANY
“Larry… did you really just do that?”

Larry remains angry, but the seriousness of the situation is now impossible to ignore.

LARRY
“Go ahead and call the police once. Then you’ll see what happens.”

Bethany stares at him in disbelief. Instead of becoming silent, she realizes that the argument has crossed a serious line.

SCENE 4 — BETHANY REFUSES TO BACK DOWN

Bethany takes a breath and tries to remain calm.

BETHANY
“You think threatening me is going to make me stay quiet?”

Larry looks away.

BETHANY
“You just made this situation much worse.”

Larry walks toward the other side of the room, trying to calm himself.

LARRY
“You don’t understand the situation.”

BETHANY
“Then help me understand it!”

Larry finally turns toward her.

LARRY
“Sharra’s mother needs help. That’s all you need to know right now.”

BETHANY
“No. That’s not enough.”

SCENE 5 — THE ARGUMENT GETS DEEPER

Bethany looks toward the phone on the table. Larry notices where she is looking.

LARRY
“Bethany, don’t.”

Bethany picks up the phone.

BETHANY
“Why shouldn’t I?”

Larry stops and gives her space.

BETHANY
“I’m not going to let this situation get out of control.”

Larry’s anger begins to fade as he realizes how serious the situation has become.

LARRY
“I don’t want this situation to get any worse.”

BETHANY
“Then you shouldn’t have lost your temper.”

Larry looks down and remains silent.

SCENE 6 — LARRY TRIES TO EXPLAIN

After several tense moments, Larry finally lowers his voice.

LARRY
“I shouldn’t have reacted that way.”

Bethany remains quiet.

LARRY
“I’m under a lot of pressure right now.”

BETHANY
“Being under pressure doesn’t give you the right to hurt me.”

Larry knows that Bethany is right.

BETHANY
“If Sharra’s mother really needs help, then we need to find a safe and legal way to help her.”

LARRY
“I know.”

BETHANY
“Then why are you making everything so complicated?”

LARRY
“Because I was trying to protect someone.”

BETHANY
“And now you’re putting yourself at risk too.”

SCENE 7 — A DIFFICULT CHOICE

Larry walks toward the window. The room is quiet, but the tension remains.

LARRY
“Are you really going to call the police?”

Bethany looks down at her phone before answering.

BETHANY
“I don’t know yet.”

Larry turns toward her.

LARRY
“What do you want?”

BETHANY
“I want you to stop making dangerous decisions. I want you to tell me the truth. And I don’t want this house turning into a place where everyone is afraid of what happens next.”

Larry listens carefully.

LARRY
“Okay.”

Bethany looks surprised by his response.

BETHANY
“Okay?”

LARRY
“I’m listening.”

SCENE 8 — THE UNEXPECTED PHONE CALL

Bethany slowly puts her phone down. She still doesn’t know what she will do next, but she wants Larry to understand that the situation cannot continue this way.

BETHANY
“If you cooperate and handle this the right way, maybe we can solve this without making everything worse.”

LARRY
“I’ll figure something out.”

BETHANY
“And Larry, this cannot happen again.”

LARRY
“I understand.”

Suddenly, Larry’s phone begins ringing.

Larry looks at the screen.

It’s Sharra.

LARRY
“It’s Sharra.”

Larry answers the call.

SHARRA
“Larry, you need to come right now. Something happened, and I don’t know what to do.”

Larry’s expression immediately becomes serious.

BETHANY
“What happened?”

Larry slowly lowers the phone.

LARRY
“We have another problem.”
