SCENE 1: A QUIET MORNING IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD

The morning sun shines over a peaceful residential neighborhood. Birds sing in the trees, and the streets are relatively quiet. Inside their mother’s house, Hope and Faith exchange mischievous glances while their mother remains unaware of their plan.

HOPE

(Whispering excitedly)
Faith, Mom’s car keys are right there. If we take the car for a little drive, nobody will even notice.

FAITH

(Looking nervous)
Are you serious, Hope? Mom told us not to touch her car. What if she finds out?

HOPE

(Smiling confidently)
Relax! We’ll only drive around the neighborhood. I’ll be careful, and we’ll be back before Mom even realizes we’re gone.

FAITH

(Hesitating)
I don’t know about this. Driving without permission could get us into serious trouble.

HOPE

(Grabbing the keys)
Stop worrying so much. Come on, let’s go!

Hope quietly picks up the keys. Faith follows her toward the garage, still uncertain about their plan. Neither girl realizes that this secret drive will change everything.

SCENE 2: HOPE TAKES THE WHEEL

Hope unlocks their mother’s car and slides into the driver’s seat. Faith settles into the passenger seat and nervously fastens her seat belt.

FAITH

(Whispering anxiously)
Hope, please drive slowly. We shouldn’t even be doing this.

HOPE

(Grinning)
I’ve got everything under control. Just enjoy the ride.

The car rolls out of the driveway. Hope turns onto the street leading to Brooke’s residential community. Up ahead, Brooke is jogging along the sidewalk in her athletic clothes, completely unaware of the approaching danger.

HOPE

(Recognizing Brooke)
Well, look who’s out for a morning jog.

FAITH

That’s Brooke! Just keep driving normally, Hope. Don’t do anything stupid.

Hope tightens her grip on the steering wheel. Her expression changes as a dangerous idea enters her mind.

FAITH

Hope, why are you looking at her like that?

HOPE

(Coldly)
Because I feel like teaching her a lesson.

FAITH

(Alarmed)
What? No! Hope, don’t even think about it!

Hope ignores her sister’s warning and continues driving toward Brooke.

SCENE 3: THE INTENTIONAL ACCIDENT

Brooke continues jogging along the sidewalk, breathing steadily as she passes the houses. Suddenly, she hears an engine approaching behind her.

Before Brooke can fully react, Hope deliberately steers the car toward the sidewalk.

FAITH

(Screaming in panic)
HOPE! WHAT ARE YOU DOING? STOP THE CAR!

Hope accelerates toward Brooke instead of correcting her direction. Brooke turns at the last moment, her eyes widening as she sees the car heading directly toward her.

BROOKE

(Screaming)
OH, MY GOD!

The car mounts the curb and strikes Brooke. She loses her balance and falls hard onto the pavement. The car finally stops nearby, leaving the street in stunned silence.

Brooke lies injured on the ground, struggling to understand what has happened. She tries to move, but pain forces her to stop.

BROOKE

(Groaning in pain)
Oh, God… somebody, please help me!

Inside the car, Faith stares through the windshield in absolute horror.

FAITH

(Shaking uncontrollably)
Hope, you hit her! You actually hit Brooke!

HOPE

(Breathing heavily)
I… I didn’t think it would happen like this.

FAITH

(Angrily)
Don’t lie! I saw you turn the wheel! You did it on purpose!

HOPE

(Defensively)
Keep your voice down! Do you want everyone to hear us?

FAITH

(Disgusted)
Are you even listening to yourself? Brooke is hurt! We need to call an ambulance!

Hope looks around at the neighboring houses, suddenly realizing that someone may have witnessed the accident. Brooke’s cries of pain make it impossible to pretend nothing has happened.

SCENE 4: BETHANY HEARS THE CRASH

Inside her nearby home, Bethany is going about her morning when a sudden crash breaks the peaceful silence. She freezes as a woman’s desperate cries follow.

BETHANY

(Confused and frightened)
What was that? Did something happen outside?

Bethany rushes toward the front window. Her heart nearly stops when she sees a car standing partly on the sidewalk and Brooke lying injured on the ground.

BETHANY

(Screaming in disbelief)
BROOKE!

Bethany throws open the front door and races outside. She runs toward Brooke, tears already filling her eyes, then drops to her knees beside her.

BETHANY

(Crying desperately)
Brooke, sweetheart, can you hear me? Please say something!

Bethany’s hands tremble as she looks at Brooke’s injuries. She wants to comfort her but is terrified of hurting her further.

BROOKE

(Weakly)
Bethany… it hurts so much.

BETHANY

(Crying harder)
I know, sweetheart. I’m right here. I’m not leaving you.

Bethany gently takes Brooke’s hand, careful not to move her injured body.

BROOKE

(Struggling to speak)
The car… it came straight toward me.

Bethany looks toward the vehicle. Her expression changes from fear to disbelief.

BETHANY

(Angrily, through tears)
Who was driving? Who did this to you?

BROOKE

(Weakly)
I… I think it was Hope.

BETHANY

(Stunned)
Hope? Your Hope?

Brooke gives a faint, painful nod. Bethany’s face fills with shock. She cannot understand why Hope would do something so terrible.

SCENE 5: FAITH PANICS AS HOPE TRIES TO ESCAPE

Faith opens the car door and steps onto the street. Her face is drained of color as she watches Bethany crying beside Brooke.

FAITH

(Trembling)
Hope, we can’t just sit here. Brooke needs help!

HOPE

(Looking around nervously)
I know that! I’m trying to think!

FAITH

(Angrily)
Then think about Brooke for once! You deliberately drove onto the sidewalk!

HOPE

(Whispering harshly)
Stop saying that so loudly!

Faith stares at her sister, unable to believe how little concern Hope seems to show.

FAITH

(Disappointed and frightened)
You could have killed her, Hope. Do you understand that?

Hope looks toward Bethany, who is still holding Brooke’s hand and crying.

BETHANY

(Shouting furiously)
HOPE! FAITH! WHAT HAVE YOU DONE?

Hope flinches. Faith lowers her head, ashamed.

BETHANY

(Pointing toward Brooke)
Look at her! Look at what you’ve done to Brooke!

FAITH

(Quietly)
Bethany, I’m sorry. I tried to stop her.

BETHANY

(Heartbroken)
Sorry? You think sorry is enough when Brooke is lying here injured?

Faith has no answer. The sound of Brooke crying fills the painful silence between them.

SCENE 6: A DESPERATE CALL FOR HELP

Bethany pulls out her phone with shaking hands and calls emergency services.

BETHANY

(Frantically speaking into the phone)
Please send an ambulance! A woman has been hit by a car in our neighborhood. She’s injured and needs help immediately!

She gives the dispatcher the location and follows the instructions she receives, trying to keep Brooke still and reassured.

BETHANY

(Gently, to Brooke)
Help is coming, sweetheart. Just stay with me, okay? Keep talking to me if you can.

BROOKE

(Crying softly)
Bethany, I was just jogging. I didn’t do anything to them.

BETHANY

(Through tears)
I know, Brooke. I know you didn’t.

Bethany carefully brushes a strand of hair away from Brooke’s face without moving her head.

BROOKE

(Weakly)
Why would Hope do this to me?

BETHANY

(Voice trembling)
I don’t know, sweetheart. But we’re going to find out.

In the distance, the sound of approaching sirens grows louder. Faith looks toward the street, terrified about what will happen when the police arrive.

Hope stands beside the car, silent and shaken. The excitement she felt earlier has vanished, replaced by the reality of her actions.

SCENE 7: THE CONSEQUENCES BEGIN

The ambulance arrives, and paramedics hurry toward Brooke. They assess her injuries and carefully prepare to transport her for medical treatment. Bethany stays close, refusing to leave Brooke’s side.

BETHANY

(Crying softly)
I’m coming with you, Brooke. You’re not going through this alone.

BROOKE

(Weakly)
Please don’t leave me.

BETHANY

(Nodding through tears)
Never, sweetheart. I’m right here.

As the paramedics lift Brooke onto the stretcher, Bethany walks beside them, holding her hand until they must secure her for transport. Nearby, Hope and Faith watch as the ambulance doors close.

FAITH

(Quietly)
You need to tell the truth about what happened.

HOPE

(Looking down)
I don’t know what to do.

FAITH

(Firmly)
Then start by admitting what you did.

The ambulance pulls away, carrying Brooke toward the hospital. Bethany looks back through the rear window, tears streaming down her face. Her mind races with questions, but one thought overwhelms all the others: Brooke must survive.

On the sidewalk, Hope remains beside the car as the consequences of her deliberate actions begin to unfold. Faith stands several feet away, realizing that protecting her sister’s secret would only make everything worse.
