“Are you serious?” he asked, his voice filled with excitement and disbelief.

Mariah gave a small, uncertain smile. “I can’t say for certain until I know more. But I wanted you to be the first person I talked to.”

Isaiah gently placed a hand over her stomach, treating the possibility as if it were already a precious secret between them. Mariah looked back at him, and for a few seconds, they seemed to share a private happiness. Neither of them knew that Brooke was watching every second.
