DUTCHESS

Bethany tried desperately to defend herself. Dutchess refused to believe a single word. Suddenly, Dutchess raised her hand and slapped Bethany across the face.

DUTCHESS

SCENE 5 — DUTCHESS WALKS AWAY

Bethany continued begging for mercy. Dutchess refused to back down. After one final warning, she grabbed her bag and headed toward the front door.

DUTCHESS

Alone inside Larry’s house, Bethany picked up her phone and noticed a strange message. Her expression changed as she read the words. Suddenly, everything seemed different.

“If you want to know who really got Dutchess’s mother arrested in New York, stop trusting Larry.” Bethany stared at the screen in disbelief.

Another message appeared moments later: “Ask Larry where he was the night your name was added to the police report.” Bethany slowly raised her eyes toward the hallway.

A floorboard creaked in the darkness. Someone was standing inside the house. Bethany called out, but received no answer. Then a familiar voice broke the silence.
