BROOKE PUSHES BETHANY OFF THE CRUISE SHIP WHILE LARRY WATCHES IN HORROR!
The ocean stretched endlessly beneath the bright afternoon sun as the cruise ship moved through the deep blue water. Bethany stood near the railing, enjoying the cool breeze, while Larry watched the waves from a few steps away. Brooke stood behind them, her face tense and her eyes fixed on Bethany. They had come on this trip together, hoping to spend time away from their problems, but Brooke’s anger had followed her onto the ship.
Bethany turned toward Larry with a small smile.
BETHANY: Larry, look at this view! I think we needed a trip like this. Maybe we can finally relax and enjoy ourselves without arguing about everything.
Larry glanced at her, trying to hide the tension on his face.
LARRY: That’s what I wanted, Bethany. I wanted everybody to have a peaceful time. I don’t want another argument ruining this trip.
Brooke heard his words and shook her head bitterly.
BROOKE: A peaceful time? That’s easy for you to say when you’re standing here pretending everything is fine.
Bethany slowly turned around.
BETHANY: Brooke, what is your problem now? Nobody has said anything to you. We’re just trying to enjoy the cruise.
BROOKE: You always do that! You stand there acting innocent, like you’re the only person who deserves to be happy.
BETHANY: I haven’t done anything to you today. Why are you looking for a reason to fight with me?
Brooke stepped closer, her expression hardening.
BROOKE: Because I’m tired of watching you act like you control everything. You think you can stand beside Larry and decide how everybody should feel.
Larry immediately noticed the change in Brooke’s voice. He moved closer to the two women, hoping to stop the disagreement before it became something worse.
LARRY: Brooke, that’s enough. We’re on a cruise ship. Can we please have one day without this drama?
Brooke turned toward him.
BROOKE: Of course you’re defending Bethany again! You never listen to what I’m saying. The moment I open my mouth, you make me look like the problem.
LARRY: I’m not making you look like anything. I’m asking you to calm down because this conversation is going nowhere.
Bethany let out a frustrated breath and looked toward the ocean. She had hoped the trip would give her a chance to reconnect with Larry, but Brooke’s hostility was making every moment uncomfortable.
BETHANY: Larry, I’m not going to argue with her. I’m going to stand here and enjoy the view. If Brooke wants to be angry all day, that’s her decision.
Bethany turned back toward the railing, unaware that Brooke was watching her with growing resentment.
For several seconds, nobody spoke. The sound of the waves against the ship filled the silence. Larry looked at his phone, distracted by a message, while Brooke continued staring at Bethany.
Then Brooke walked toward her.
BROOKE: You really think you can turn your back on me while I’m talking?
Bethany turned around, surprised by how close Brooke had come.
BETHANY: I already told you that I don’t want to fight. Please leave me alone.
BROOKE: No! You’re going to listen to me for once!
BETHANY: Brooke, stop! You’re making me uncomfortable.
Larry finally looked up and noticed the two women standing dangerously close to the railing.
LARRY: Brooke! Step back and let her breathe.
But Brooke was too angry to listen. Every attempt to stop the argument seemed to make her more determined to confront Bethany.
BROOKE: You always get your way! Everybody worries about your feelings, but nobody cares about mine!
BETHANY: That isn’t true. If something is bothering you, talk about it. Don’t stand here blaming me for everything that makes you unhappy.
BROOKE: Don’t tell me how I should feel!
Bethany raised her hands slightly, trying to calm the situation.
BETHANY: I’m not trying to control you. I just want you to calm down.
Brooke suddenly moved forward and shoved Bethany.
Everything happened in an instant.
Bethany lost her balance near the railing. Her eyes widened as she reached desperately for something to hold, but there was nothing within reach. Before Larry could cross the distance between them, Bethany fell over the side of the cruise ship and disappeared into the ocean.
For one terrible moment, Larry couldn’t move.
Then he heard the splash.
LARRY: BETHANY!
His scream echoed across the deck. He rushed toward the railing and looked down at the churning blue water, desperately searching for his wife.
Bethany surfaced briefly, struggling to stay above the waves.
BETHANY: LARRY! HELP ME!
Larry’s face went pale. He could see her, but the water was already carrying her farther away.
LARRY: Somebody help! A woman has fallen overboard! Stop the ship!
Passengers turned toward the commotion. A crew member hurried toward Larry while another began raising the alarm.
Larry grabbed the railing, unable to take his eyes off Bethany.
LARRY: Bethany, keep looking at me! Don’t give up! They’re coming to help you!
He turned toward Brooke, who stood frozen a few steps behind him.
LARRY: WHAT HAVE YOU DONE?
Brooke stared at him. The anger that had filled her face moments earlier was disappearing, replaced by shock and fear.
BROOKE: Larry, I… I didn’t mean for this to happen.
Larry looked at her as if he could hardly believe what he was hearing.
LARRY: You pushed her! I saw you push her! Bethany was standing there, and you pushed her into the ocean!
BROOKE: I was angry! I wasn’t thinking!
LARRY: You weren’t thinking? She’s in the water, Brooke! My wife is out there fighting for her life!
Brooke began to tremble. She looked over the railing and caught sight of Bethany’s head appearing between the waves.
BROOKE: Bethany! Bethany, grab something! Please!
But Bethany was too far away to hear Brooke clearly.
Larry turned back toward the crew members, who were preparing a rescue response. He wanted to jump into the ocean himself, but a crew member caught his arm and held him back.
CREW MEMBER: Sir, please stay behind the railing! Our team is responding. We need you to follow our instructions.
LARRY: I can’t just stand here! She’s my wife!
CREW MEMBER: We understand, sir. We’re doing everything we can.
Larry watched helplessly as the crew worked to bring the situation under control. His hands shook, and his breathing became uneven.
Behind him, Brooke covered her mouth.
BROOKE: Larry, please believe me. I didn’t want her to fall. I only wanted her to stop treating me like I was nothing.
Larry turned toward her, his eyes filled with anger and disbelief.
LARRY: Nothing you say can change what happened. You let your anger take control, and now Bethany is paying the price.
BROOKE: What am I supposed to do?
LARRY: You should have thought about that before you touched her!
A crew member shouted that they had spotted Bethany again. Larry immediately turned toward the ocean.
LARRY: Bethany! Hold on! Please hold on!
For a moment, hope returned to his face. He could see the rescue team moving toward the area where she had last appeared. Passengers stood silently, watching as the crew searched the water.
Then Bethany disappeared behind a set of waves.
Larry’s heart seemed to stop.
LARRY: No! Bethany! Somebody find her!
He tried to move forward again, but the crew member kept him safely back. Brooke stood motionless, tears streaming down her face as she realized the seriousness of what she had done.
Minutes passed like hours.
Finally, a crew member turned toward Larry.
CREW MEMBER: Sir, we’re still searching. Please stay here in case we need information from you.
Larry could barely speak.
LARRY: Just bring her back. That’s all I’m asking. Please bring my wife back.
He looked toward Brooke, who was crying quietly near the railing.
LARRY: If Bethany doesn’t come back, Brooke, I will never be able to look at you the same way again.
Brooke opened her mouth to answer, but no words came out.
Suddenly, a voice called from the other side of the deck.
CREW MEMBER: We may have located her! We need everyone to clear this area immediately!
Larry rushed toward the sound, desperate for confirmation. Brooke followed him, afraid to remain alone with what she had done.
As Larry reached the crew, one of the rescuers turned toward him with a serious expression.
RESCUER: Sir, we have someone in the water, but we need to confirm her identity.
Larry stared at him, his entire world hanging on the next words.
LARRY: Please… tell me it’s Bethany.
The rescuer hesitated before answering.
And as Larry waited for the truth, Brooke suddenly noticed something floating near the railing—a small bracelet Bethany had been wearing moments before she fell.
Brooke recognized it immediately.
Her knees nearly gave way.
Because the rescue team had not yet confirmed that the woman in the water was Bethany, and Larry was still waiting for an answer that could change all their lives forever.
