Bethany stood in the living room, staring at Larry’s phone on the table. A notification appeared on the screen, and Jade’s name immediately caught her attention. Bethany hesitated before picking up the phone. She did not want to believe what she was seeing, but the messages made her suspicious.

BETHANY: “Why is Larry talking to Jade like this? Why is he giving her so much attention?”

Larry finally took his phone and placed it in his pocket.

Bethany stared at him, disappointed by his response.

BETHANY: “You might not want an argument, but I’m not going to sit here and watch another woman come between us.”

Larry walked away without answering. His silence only made Bethany more determined to find out what was happening between him and Jade.

Later that afternoon, Bethany decided to meet Jade. She called her and asked her to come over because she needed to discuss something important. Jade initially thought the conversation would be about an ordinary family matter, so she agreed.

JADE: “Talking to someone doesn’t mean there’s a relationship. You should be having this conversation with Larry instead of accusing me.”

Bethany became even angrier. She had expected Jade to apologize, but instead, Jade was defending herself.

BETHANY: “Listen carefully. If you ever come near Larry again, I will make you regret it. If you come around Larry again, I will kill you!”

Larry became silent. Bethany watched his face carefully, waiting for an answer.

BETHANY: “Look at me, Larry. Do you love her?”

Before Larry could respond, his phone started ringing. He looked at the screen and saw Jade’s name.

BETHANY: “There she is again. Go ahead, answer her. Maybe she wants to tell you how I treated her.”

Larry picked up the phone, but Bethany grabbed his arm.

BETHANY: “If you answer that call, don’t expect me to forget what is happening between you two.”

Larry gently pulled his arm away.

LARRY: “I’m answering because I need to know what happened. You cannot threaten people and expect me to pretend everything is normal.”

He answered the call.

LARRY: “Jade, what’s going on?”

Jade’s voice sounded upset.

JADE: “Larry, your wife just threatened me. She told me that if I ever came near you again, she would kill me. I don’t know what you have told her, but I don’t deserve this.”

Larry looked toward Bethany, who was standing just a few feet away.

LARRY: “I’m sorry. I didn’t know she was going to do that.”

JADE: “You need to figure out what you want, Larry. I don’t want to be caught in the middle of your relationship.”

Larry closed his eyes for a moment.

LARRY: “I understand. I’ll talk to her.”

Jade ended the call.

Bethany immediately demanded an explanation.

BETHANY: “So now you’re apologizing to her? You’re more concerned about her feelings than mine?”
