Sharra’s World Collapses
SHARRA’S WORLD COLLAPSES

The Chilling Document

When Sharra anxiously snatched the envelope from Bethany’s hands and opened it, a chilling coldness ran through her entire body. An official stamp gleamed on the paper, and underneath it, the words were written in plain view: 6 years of rigorous imprisonment.

The court’s decision was final. The document bore the name of Sharra’s mother, her identity number, and all the legal charges under which she had been sentenced.

Sharra’s hands began to tremble. Her face turned pale, and the words that were stuck in her throat remained frozen there. The cold rustle of the paper seeped into her hands like poison.

Bethany’s Cruel Victory

Bethany folded her arms across her chest, a triumphant, haughty smile playing on her lips, and stood right in front of Sharra. In her eyes, hatred and a strange pride of victory shone brightly.

“Did you see that?” Bethany asked in a voice steeped in sarcasm. “Didn’t I tell you? I recognized you people from day one. You, your mother, your sister… your entire family is just a bundle of criminals!”

Sharra tried to look up at Bethany, but Bethany’s words pierced her heart. Sharra’s tongue failed her. Her throat had gone completely dry.

Six Years of Fear

“What happened? Speak up now, won’t you?” Bethany leaned in closer, studying Sharra’s pale countenance.

“Where did all your pride and self-righteousness go now? How hard you tried to cover up your mother’s crimes. But can the truth ever stay hidden? Six years! Your mother will now serve six years in prison.”

Sharra clutched the paper to her chest, as if she could somehow erase that reality. Tears welled up in her eyes, but she refused to cry in front of Bethany.

Brooke’s Name Enters the Storm

Bethany did not stop there. She took a deep breath and continued to criticize Sharra and her family.

“And you… what do you think of yourself? That you’re completely innocent? You are just like her. And your sister, Brooke? Don’t even get me started on her.”

Sharra’s heart pounded heavily. “Brooke…” She managed to whisper the name with great difficulty.

Bethany continued talking about Brooke’s past actions and the conflict that had followed her return home.

Another Secret Revealed

Bethany waved her right hand in the air, gesturing as though pointing out another serious problem.

“Birth control pills! That is what she brought into this house! Secretly, behind everyone’s back… What is going on in the heads of you two sisters? Every single day, there’s a new drama!”

Sharra closed her eyes. She was already aware of Brooke’s actions, but hearing those private matters turned into accusations made the situation even harder for her to endure.

Sharra Has No Words

“Say something!” Bethany gave Sharra’s shoulder a light shove. “Why are you quiet now? You talk plenty when you’re in this house.”

Sharra lowered her head. Tears broke through her eyelashes and streamed down her cheeks. She kept staring at the floor, where a patch of light fell across the tiles.

The strength to stand up to Bethany’s insults had completely drained from her. She felt trapped beneath the weight of everything she had just learned.

Bethany Walks Away

Bethany let out a long sigh, as if she had just won a major battle. She gave Sharra one last look, adjusted her clothes, and turned to walk out of the room.

The sound of her high heels echoed down the hallway until it faded away completely.

Alone With the Truth

Sharra sank to the floor. The paper was still in her trembling hands. She looked down at it—the signature, the official seal, and the six-year sentence.

Then her eyes drifted to the small bag resting in the corner of the room, where Brooke’s medication had been found.

A complete silence descended upon the house, but inside Sharra, a violent storm was raging. The overwhelming sense of shame, helplessness, and grief had stolen her voice.

She simply sat there, alone, confronting the bitter truth about her family that she could no longer hide.
