LARRY DISCOVERS MARYA’S PREGNANCY BY ISAIAH — THEN VIOLENTLY CONFRONTS BROOKE!
Larry stood in the middle of his living room, staring at his phone as the news sank in. Marya was pregnant, and Isaiah was believed to be the father. His anger grew with every passing second, especially because he knew Brooke had a connection to Isaiah. In Larry’s mind, the situation had gone too far, and he was determined to put an end to it before his family became even more entangled in the growing drama.
He immediately called Brooke.
LARRY: Brooke, I need you to come here right now. We need to have a serious conversation, and I don’t want you making excuses.
Brooke, who was busy in her room, frowned at the sudden demand. She could hear the anger in Larry’s voice, but she had no idea what had triggered it.
BROOKE: Why are you talking to me like that? If you have something to say, you can say it over the phone.
LARRY: I said come here, Brooke! This is not a conversation I’m going to have over the phone.
Brooke sighed, ended the call, and grabbed her bag. She was already tired of Larry acting as though he had the right to control every decision she made. Nevertheless, she knew ignoring him would only make matters worse.
When Brooke finally arrived, Larry was waiting near the living room window. He turned toward her immediately, his expression cold and serious.
BROOKE: All right, I’m here. What is so important that you couldn’t wait?
LARRY: Have you heard about Marya?
Brooke hesitated.
BROOKE: I’ve heard people talking, but I don’t know everything. What’s going on?
Larry took a step closer, his voice rising.
LARRY: Marya is pregnant, Brooke. Pregnant! And Isaiah is involved in this situation. Do you understand what that means?
Brooke’s expression changed. Although she knew the news would cause problems, she hadn’t expected Larry to summon her and demand answers.
BROOKE: If Marya is pregnant, then Marya and Isaiah need to figure out what they’re going to do. Why are you putting all of this on me?
LARRY: Because I know you, Brooke! I know how you get involved in situations that have nothing to do with you. I’m not going to sit back and watch you get dragged into another mess because of Isaiah.
Brooke folded her arms.
BROOKE: You don’t know what you’re talking about. Just because I know Isaiah doesn’t mean I’m responsible for everything he does.
LARRY: Then listen carefully. I want you to stay away from Isaiah. No calls, no visits, no unnecessary conversations. I don’t want you anywhere near him while this situation is going on.
Brooke stared at him in disbelief.
BROOKE: Excuse me? You called me here to give me orders about who I’m allowed to talk to?
LARRY: I’m trying to protect you!
BROOKE: No, Larry! You’re trying to control me! You always do this. You hear something you don’t like, and suddenly you think everybody has to follow your rules.
Larry’s jaw tightened. He had expected Brooke to argue, but her defiance made him feel as though she was deliberately challenging his authority.
LARRY: Watch your tone when you’re talking to me.
BROOKE: And you should watch the way you talk to me! I’m not a little child, and you cannot decide who I speak to just because you’re angry about Marya’s pregnancy.
For a moment, neither of them spoke. Larry looked at Brooke as if he could hardly believe she had dared to answer him that way.
LARRY: So you’re refusing to listen to me?
BROOKE: I’m telling you that this is not your decision to make. If I have something to discuss with Isaiah, I’ll decide that for myself.
Larry’s anger finally boiled over. He moved toward Brooke and began striking her during the heated confrontation. Brooke stumbled backward, shocked by what was happening. She raised her arms defensively and tried to put distance between them.
BROOKE: Larry, stop! What is wrong with you?
But Larry continued his aggressive outburst, ignoring her frightened protests. Brooke managed to move away from him, her eyes filling with tears as she struggled to understand how a conversation about Isaiah had turned into this.
BROOKE: You called me here to talk, and now you’re putting your hands on me? How could you do this?
Larry stopped when Brooke’s words finally registered. His breathing was heavy, and the room fell into an uncomfortable silence.
Brooke stood several feet away, visibly shaken. She looked at him with a mixture of fear, disbelief, and anger.
BROOKE: You keep saying you want to protect me, but this isn’t protection. You don’t get to hurt me because I disagree with you.
LARRY: You pushed me too far, Brooke. You know how serious this situation is, and you still want to argue with me.
BROOKE: Don’t blame me for what you just did! I didn’t make you do anything. You chose to lose control.
Larry looked away, unwilling to accept responsibility for his behavior. He had convinced himself that his anger came from concern, but Brooke’s words forced him to confront the difference between protecting someone and trying to control them.
LARRY: I don’t want you involved in Isaiah’s problems. Is that so difficult to understand?
BROOKE: Then explain your concerns without threatening me. You can’t demand respect while treating me like this.
Larry pointed toward the door.
LARRY: If you’re going to keep disrespecting me, maybe you should leave.
Brooke wiped her tears and reached for her bag. She wanted to leave, but she refused to let Larry believe that his actions had settled the argument.
BROOKE: I’m leaving because I don’t deserve to be treated this way. But don’t expect me to pretend this never happened.
She walked toward the front door, trying to steady herself. Larry remained in the living room, watching her go. For the first time, he seemed uncertain whether his attempt to control the situation had made anything better.
Just as Brooke reached the doorway, her phone began ringing.
She glanced at the screen and froze.
Isaiah was calling.
Larry noticed the name immediately.
LARRY: Don’t answer that phone.
Brooke looked from the screen to Larry. A moment earlier, she had been desperate to get away from him. Now she realized that answering Isaiah’s call could ignite another confrontation.
BROOKE: You don’t get to control my phone, Larry.
She pressed the answer button.
BROOKE: Isaiah, what’s going on?
Isaiah’s voice came through urgently, and Brooke’s expression changed as she listened.
ISAIAH: Brooke, I need you to listen to me. Something has happened with Marya, and everybody is blaming me. But there’s something else you need to know about what Larry has been saying.
Brooke glanced at Larry, who was now moving closer, trying to hear every word.
BROOKE: What are you talking about, Isaiah? What else is there?
Isaiah paused before answering.
ISAIAH: Larry doesn’t know the whole story about Marya’s pregnancy. And if he finds out what really happened, he’s going to come after me next.
Brooke’s eyes widened.
BROOKE: What do you mean he doesn’t know the whole story?
Before Isaiah could explain, Larry reached toward the phone.
LARRY: Give me that phone, Brooke!
Brooke stepped back, holding it tightly as Isaiah called her name through the speaker.
ISAIAH: Brooke, don’t let him take the phone! You need to hear what I have to tell you!
Larry stopped in front of her, his face tense with anger and suspicion. Brooke looked at him, then at the phone, realizing that the truth about Marya’s pregnancy might be far more complicated than anyone had admitted.
BROOKE: Larry, if you’re so certain you know what’s happening, then why are you afraid of what Isaiah has to say?
Larry’s expression hardened.
LARRY: End that call, Brooke. Right now.
But Brooke didn’t move. Isaiah was still speaking, and she was determined to hear the truth—even if it meant standing up to Larry again.
Then Isaiah said three words that made her blood run cold.
ISAIAH: Ask Marya yourself.
Larry’s eyes widened, and for the first time that evening, he looked genuinely unsettled. Brooke stared at him, waiting for an explanation he clearly wasn’t ready to give.
And as Isaiah began revealing what Marya had told him, Brooke realized that the biggest confrontation in their family was only just beginning.
