SCENE 1 — AMBER’S HOUSE — EVENING

Amber’s house is unusually quiet. After everything she has been through, her divorce has finally been completed. She expected to feel relieved, but instead, she feels emotionally exhausted and uncertain about what comes next.

Amber sits alone on the couch, staring at her phone. Several messages are waiting for her, but she doesn’t have the energy to respond to anyone.

Suddenly, the front door opens.

Wayne walks inside and immediately notices that something is wrong.

WAYNE
“Amber, what happened? You don’t look okay.”

Amber slowly looks up. She tries to smile, but her expression quickly fades.

AMBER
“I’m just tired, Wayne. It’s been a very difficult day.”

Wayne looks around the house and notices that Dave isn’t there.

WAYNE
“Where’s Dave? I thought he would be here with you.”

AMBER
“He’s not here.”

Wayne becomes concerned.

SCENE 2 — WAYNE TRIES TO COMFORT AMBER

Wayne sits across from Amber. He can tell that she is struggling to process everything that has happened.

WAYNE
“I know today wasn’t easy. A divorce can change your entire life.”

Amber takes a deep breath and looks toward the floor.

AMBER
“I thought I would feel better once it was finally over. But now I just feel empty.”

Wayne nods.

WAYNE
“You don’t have to deal with everything by yourself.”

Amber appreciates his concern, but she is still emotionally overwhelmed.

AMBER
“I know you’re trying to help, but I really need some space right now.”

Wayne understands and keeps his distance. The room becomes quiet for several seconds.

Amber walks toward the window and looks outside. She appears lost in thought.

SCENE 3 — AMBER OPENS UP

Wayne notices that Amber is trying hard to remain strong.

WAYNE
“You don’t have to pretend that you’re okay.”

Amber turns around.

AMBER
“My marriage is over. Dave isn’t here. And honestly, I don’t even know what my life is supposed to look like now.”

Wayne listens carefully.

WAYNE
“Then don’t make any major decisions tonight. Give yourself some time.”

Amber looks at him with a small smile.

AMBER
“That’s probably the first sensible thing I’ve heard all day.”

Wayne smiles, trying to lighten the mood.

WAYNE
“Sometimes you just need someone to listen.”

Amber nods. But then Wayne gets a little too close and attempts to kiss her.

AMBER
“Wayne, no. Please don’t.”

Amber firmly steps back. Wayne immediately stops and gives her space.

WAYNE
“I’m sorry. I misunderstood the situation.”

AMBER
“I need you to respect my boundaries.”

WAYNE
“I understand.”

SCENE 4 — DAVE ARRIVES

Suddenly, the front door opens.

Amber freezes.

Wayne turns toward the entrance.

Dave walks inside.

He immediately notices Wayne standing inside the house with Amber. His expression changes, and he becomes suspicious.

DAVE
“Wayne? What are you doing here?”

WAYNE
“I came to check on Amber. She wasn’t doing well.”

Dave looks at Amber.

DAVE
“Is that what happened?”

AMBER
“Yes. Wayne came because I was upset.”

Dave remains suspicious.

DAVE
“I don’t like finding another man here when I’m not around.”

AMBER
“Dave, nothing happened. I told Wayne that I needed space, and he respected that.”

SCENE 5 — THE CONFRONTATION

Dave looks directly at Wayne. The tension inside the room becomes obvious.

DAVE
“Then why does this situation feel completely different from what you’re telling me?”

Wayne remains calm.

WAYNE
“Because you’re seeing it at the worst possible moment. Amber was upset, and I came to check on her.”

DAVE
“You could have called.”

WAYNE
“Maybe I should have.”

Amber steps between them before the argument can become worse.

AMBER
“Enough. I’m tired of people arguing around me.”

Both men become quiet.

AMBER
“My divorce is already difficult enough. I don’t need another fight in my house.”

Dave takes a breath and tries to calm himself.

SCENE 6 — AMBER TAKES CONTROL

Amber looks at both men.

AMBER
“I have spent too much of my life allowing other people to make decisions for me.”

Dave looks surprised.

AMBER
“My marriage ended today. I don’t want to immediately jump into another situation.”

Wayne nods.

WAYNE
“You’re right. You need time.”

Dave looks at Amber.

DAVE
“So what do you want from me?”

Amber pauses before answering.

AMBER
“I want honesty. I want respect. And most importantly, I want peace.”

Dave becomes silent.

SCENE 7 — AN UNEXPECTED ENDING

Wayne realizes that staying any longer could make the situation worse.

WAYNE
“Amber, I’m going to leave. You need time to think.”

Amber nods.

AMBER
“Thank you.”

Wayne walks toward the door and leaves the house.

Dave watches him disappear outside. He then turns back toward Amber.

DAVE
“Are you really okay?”

Amber looks at him for a long moment.

AMBER
“No. But I will be.”

Dave’s expression softens.

DAVE
“And where does that leave me?”

Amber takes a deep breath.

AMBER
“I don’t know yet, Dave.”

Dave is stunned by her answer.

Amber walks toward the hallway, leaving Dave alone in the living room.

The divorce may be over, but the biggest questions are only beginning. Wayne’s unexpected visit has created new tension, while Dave now has to decide whether he can rebuild his relationship with Amber or give her the space she has asked for.
