The atmosphere inside the house was tense. Dave had been furious ever since he learned that Anthony had wished Amber a happy wedding anniversary. Even though Amber and Anthony were divorced, Dave could not understand why Anthony still wanted to acknowledge such an important day. In Dave’s mind, Amber belonged to him now, and he wanted Anthony completely out of her life.

Anthony’s words made Dave even angrier. He could not tolerate the thought that Anthony still considered the anniversary meaningful. To Dave, the message was proof that Anthony had not completely let go of Amber. His jealousy began to overpower his judgment, and the situation quickly spiraled out of control.

Dave stared at Amber suspiciously. He noticed that she seemed far more worried about Anthony than she was about his anger. In that moment, his jealousy turned into resentment.
