THE UNEXPECTED CALL
Wayne stood near the door, staring at his phone after receiving an unexpected call. His face had completely changed. The confidence he normally carried was gone, replaced by confusion and anger.
The woman sitting at the table immediately noticed the change in his expression. She slowly stood up and walked toward him.
“Wayne, what happened?”
Wayne looked at her but didn’t answer immediately. He slipped the phone into his pocket and took a deep breath.
“They just told me something I never thought I would hear.”
“What are you talking about?”
Wayne’s eyes narrowed.
“Apparently, a decision has already been made.”
“What decision?”
“The decision that we were supposed to make together.”
WAYNE’S ANGER RISES
The woman frowned. She clearly didn’t understand what Wayne was talking about.
“I don’t understand.”
“Exactly! That’s the problem. Nobody understands because nobody bothered to tell me!”
His voice became louder. The woman immediately took a step backward.
“Don’t yell at me. I didn’t make that decision.”
“Then who did?”
She remained silent.
Wayne stared at her for several seconds.
“That’s what I thought.”
“Wayne, you’re getting angry over something you don’t even know the full story about.”
“I know enough!”
Wayne walked back toward the table and placed both hands firmly against it. His frustration had been building for a long time.
“Maybe you’re not the only person who’s frustrated.”
Wayne laughed bitterly.
“Frustrated? You think I’m not frustrated?”
He pointed toward his phone.
“Maybe they thought you wouldn’t agree.”
“Then they should have had the courage to ask me.”
A SERIOUS ACCUSATION
Silence filled the room. Neither of them spoke for several moments. Finally, the woman lowered her voice.
“What are you going to do now?”
Wayne pulled out a chair and sat down.
“I’m going to find out the truth.”
“And if you don’t like what you hear?”
“Then I’m going to say exactly how I feel.”
She sighed and sat across from him.
“And what if that makes everything worse?”
“Things are already worse. Pretending everything is fine isn’t going to fix anything.”
The woman looked directly into Wayne’s eyes.
“So tell me what you think is really happening.”
Wayne paused before answering.
“That’s a serious accusation.”
“Then prove me wrong.”
She looked at him for several seconds.
“What if I can’t?”
“Then we have a much bigger problem than I thought.”
THE MYSTERIOUS ENVELOPE
Suddenly, there was a knock at the door.
Both of them immediately turned toward it.
“Were you expecting someone?”
“No.”
Another knock came, louder this time.
Wayne slowly walked toward the door. Before opening it, he looked back at the woman.
“Stay here.”
Wayne opened the door.
A man stood outside holding an envelope.
“Are you Wayne?”
“Who wants to know?”
The man handed him the envelope.
“You need to read this.”
“What is it?”
“You’ll understand when you open it.”
Wayne looked at the envelope suspiciously.
“Who sent you?”
The man hesitated.
“Someone who thinks you deserve to know the truth.”
Before Wayne could ask another question, the man turned around and walked away. Wayne slowly closed the door.
THE TRUTH IS REVEALED
Wayne returned to the table. The woman immediately looked at the envelope in his hand.
“What’s that?”
“I don’t know.”
“Open it.”
Wayne slowly tore the envelope open. Inside was a document and a handwritten note.
He read the note silently.
Within seconds, his entire expression changed.
“Wayne… what does it say?”
Wayne didn’t answer.
“Wayne?”
He finally looked up.
“Who?”
Wayne held up the document.
“Everybody who told me this was already settled.”
“What does that paper prove?”
“It proves the decision wasn’t final.”
For a moment, the woman looked relieved. But Wayne’s expression remained serious.
“Then why did they tell you it was?”
Wayne slowly folded the document.
WAYNE MAKES HIS MOVE
The woman shook her head in disbelief.
“So what are you going to do?”
Wayne stood up. His anger had disappeared. What remained was determination.
“I’m going to give them exactly what they didn’t expect.”
“What’s that?”
Wayne picked up his phone.
He began dialing a number. The woman watched nervously.
“Who are you calling?”
“The person who started all of this.”
The call connected. Wayne’s voice became calm, but his eyes were filled with determination.
“We need to talk.”
He listened carefully.
“No. Not tomorrow. Not next week. Tonight.”
Another pause.
“Because I just found out the truth.”
Wayne glanced across the room at the woman.
“And trust me… you’re going to explain everything.”
He ended the call.
THE CONFRONTATION IS COMING
The woman stared at Wayne, nervous about what was coming next.
“What did they say?”
Wayne put his phone down.
“They’re coming here.”
“Right now?”
“Right now.”
Wayne sat back down. For the first time that night, he wasn’t angry. He was ready.
The room became completely silent. The woman knew that whoever was coming through that door would have to answer some serious questions.
The truth was coming out, and nobody would be able to hide from it anymore.
