JEALOUSY, ANGER, AND BROKEN TRUST
A Story of Jealousy, Misunderstanding & Broken Trust
INT. COMMUNITY HALL — EVENING
The community hall is slowly emptying after a long event.
Soft lights glow across the room. A few people are talking in the
distance, but Delicia barely notices them.
Her eyes are fixed on Iman and Sahyla.
They are standing together near the doorway, having a quiet conversation.
Delicia watches them from across the room. Her expression changes.
Jealousy begins to rise inside her.
She folds her arms and takes a deep breath.
DELICIA
Why is Sahyla always around Iman?
Delicia looks away for a moment, trying to control herself.
But when she looks back, Sahyla is still standing beside Iman.
That is enough.
Delicia walks toward them. Her footsteps become faster as her anger grows.
SAHYLA
I think we should talk about what happened earlier.
Iman nods. Before he can respond, Delicia steps between them.
DELICIA
I need to talk to you.
Sahyla notices the anger in Delicia’s voice.
DELICIA
Stay away from Iman.
Sahyla is stunned by the accusation.
DELICIA
You heard me. Stay away from him.
SAHYLA
What exactly do you think I am doing?
DELICIA
I see the way you keep coming to him. I see how close you two are becoming.
DELICIA
And I don’t like it.
SAHYLA
That’s your problem, Delicia. Not mine.
DELICIA
You stay out of this.
IMAN
I’m only trying to stop this from becoming worse.
SAHYLA
Maybe you should listen to her.
DELICIA
Don’t pretend you don’t know what you’re doing.
SAHYLA
What do you think I did?
Sahyla’s voice becomes emotional as the argument grows more personal.
SAHYLA
You think I wanted any of this?
SAHYLA
You think everything that happened between me and Iman was something I planned?
DELICIA
Then tell me what I should think.
SAHYLA
You really want to know?
SAHYLA
What do you think he did to me?
The question hangs heavily in the air.
DELICIA
I don’t know what happened between you two.
SAHYLA
You don’t know the truth, but you’re standing here blaming me.
DELICIA
Because every time I see you with Iman, it feels like you’re trying
to take something away from me!
SAHYLA
I’m not trying to take anything from you.
DELICIA
Then stay away from him!
SAHYLA
And what if I don’t?
The challenge in Sahyla’s voice pushes Delicia past her limit.
SAHYLA
I’m not afraid of you.
For a moment, neither woman speaks. The tension becomes unbearable.
DELICIA
She needs to understand that she has crossed a line.
SAHYLA
No, Delicia. You crossed the line when you came here accusing me.
Delicia loses control and pushes Sahyla in anger. Iman immediately
steps between them and tries to stop the confrontation.
His voice echoes through the hall. Both women freeze.
IMAN
This has gone too far.
Delicia’s anger begins to fade, replaced by regret.
SAHYLA
You didn’t even ask me what happened.
DELICIA
I saw you with Iman, and I thought I was losing everything.
SAHYLA
Jealousy doesn’t give you the right to hurt someone.
IMAN
All three of us need to stop making assumptions.
IMAN
If something is bothering you, talk about it.
IMAN
And if someone misunderstands you, explain the truth instead of fighting back.
SAHYLA
Maybe you’re right.
DELICIA
I’m sorry, Sahyla.
Sahyla walks toward the exit. She stops briefly and looks back.
SAHYLA
Next time, ask me the truth before judging me.
Delicia quietly nods. Sahyla leaves.
THE AFTERMATH
The hall becomes silent again. Delicia stands beside Iman.
Her anger has disappeared completely.
DELICIA
I thought I was protecting what mattered to me.
IMAN
Sometimes fear makes us hurt the very people we don’t want to lose.
DELICIA
Do you think she’ll forgive me?
Delicia lowers her eyes. For the first time, she understands that
jealousy cannot decide who deserves trust.
The lights of the hall slowly dim. Delicia remains standing alone,
thinking about what she has done.
Outside, Sahyla walks into the evening air. She stops and takes a deep breath.
Her anger is still there. But beneath it is something else —
the realization that this conflict is far from over.
