Lauren, Wayne & Honeypot
A romantic misunderstanding turns the quiet podcast corridor into a storm of jealousy, heartbreak, and unexpected relief.
1. The Unexpected Scene
The dim lights of the podcast studio had just been switched off. Lauren put her headphones on the table, grabbed her bag, and walked out of the office with a tired sigh. Today’s podcast episode had dragged on quite long, and her mind only prayed to go home and sit in peace.
But as soon as she stepped into the corridor outside the studio, the scene in front of her made her freeze in her tracks.
At the other end of the corridor, Wayne was standing in the soft light. But he wasn’t alone. Honeypot was standing in front of him. Wayne had one hand on the wall and carried that special smile on his face that was once reserved only for Lauren.
Lauren hid herself behind a pod and began to watch closely.
2. Words That Broke Lauren’s Heart
Wayne leaned closer to Honeypot and began to speak in a very soft, sweet voice.
Honeypot shyly lowered her eyelashes and let out a soft laugh. Wayne stepped forward, took her hand in his, and placed a gentle kiss on it.
Lauren’s heart began to beat wildly. Her blood boiled. A storm of tears and anger surged in her heart. The person she loved so deeply—was he declaring his love while standing in front of another girl?
3. Lauren Confronts Wayne
Lauren walked over directly with swift steps.
Wayne tried to step back in panic. “Lauren? You… are you still here?”
“Yes, I’m right here! And thankfully I was,” Lauren said, casting a hateful glance at Honeypot before looking straight into Wayne’s eyes.
“What is going on, Wayne? You’re standing in front of this girl talking about love? Holding her hand and confessing your love?”
Seeing things go wrong, Honeypot thought it best to leave quietly and hurried out.
“I saw it with my own eyes! I heard it with my own ears! You were telling her how beautiful she is, expressing your love to her! Wayne, how could you talk like that to another girl when you have me?”
Tears began to stream down Lauren’s eyes. “You love me, don’t you? You promised me no one else would ever take my place in your life. Then what was all this today? Am I not enough for you? Why did you betray me?”
4. The Shocking Truth: It Was Only a Script
Wayne held his head, trying to find the words to explain. “Lauren, please calm down. I love only you. You are my life. What you heard isn’t real… it wasn’t the way you think it was!”
“Then how was it?” Lauren asked, wiping her tears with her sleeve. “Explain to me! Showering a girl with compliments, kissing her hand, and saying your life is incomplete without her… what does that mean, Wayne?”
Lauren stopped for a moment. “What? A script?”
“Yes! We had to record a romantic audio drama scene for the next segment of the podcast,” Wayne explained. He pulled a piece of paper from his pocket and handed it to Lauren.
“Honeypot and I were asked to practice these romantic dialogues so we would sound natural during the studio recording. I was just speaking my character’s lines, Lauren. In my eyes, in my heart, there is only you. I am not in love with Honeypot!”
Lauren took the paper with trembling hands. Written on it were the exact same words Wayne had spoken to Honeypot just a moment ago.
5. Love, Relief & Restored Trust
Lauren looked up from the paper toward Wayne. Her anger was now turning into embarrassment and relief, though a small part of the sorrow still remained.
“Why didn’t you tell me beforehand that you were practicing a scene like this?” Lauren said softly. “I thought… I thought I had lost you.”
Wayne stepped forward, took both of Lauren’s hands in his, and gently squeezed them.
Lauren rested her head on Wayne’s chest and took a deep breath. Wayne wrapped his arms around her, gently stroking her hair.
The silence in the corridor was now restoring the love and trust between them.
