SCENE 1 — THE SECRET BIRTHDAY PLAN

INT. DAVE’S HOUSE — MORNING

The morning begins quietly at Dave’s house. Dave has no idea that people around him are secretly making plans for his birthday. Amber has decided not to wish Dave immediately. Instead, she wants to prepare something special behind the scenes.

Amber meets with Dave’s daughter and starts organizing a surprise birthday celebration. They discuss decorations, food, cake, and the best way to make Dave feel appreciated.

AMBER

“We need to make sure everything is ready before Dave finds out. I want this birthday to be really special for him.”

DAVE’S DAUGHTER

“Don’t worry. I’ll help with everything. Dad is going to be completely surprised.”

Amber smiles. She believes keeping everything secret will make the celebration even more meaningful.

But Amber has no idea that another surprise is already on its way.

SCENE 2 — MELISSA ARRIVES

INT. DAVE’S HOUSE — AFTERNOON

Dave is relaxing at home when he suddenly hears a knock at the door. He looks toward the entrance with curiosity.

DAVE

“Who could that be?”

Dave walks over and opens the door. His expression immediately changes when he sees Melissa standing outside with a birthday surprise.

MELISSA

“Happy birthday, Dave!”

Dave looks genuinely surprised.

DAVE

“Melissa? You remembered my birthday?”

MELISSA

“Of course I remembered. How could I forget?”

Dave smiles. Melissa gives him a small birthday gift, and Dave thanks her warmly.

DAVE

“Thank you. That really means a lot to me.”

For the first time that day, Dave feels completely appreciated.

SCENE 3 — DAVE BECOMES HAPPY

INT. DAVE’S LIVING ROOM — CONTINUOUS

Melissa sits with Dave for a while, and they talk about his birthday. Dave tells her about some of the things he has experienced recently.

MELISSA

“You’ve been through a lot. I hope this new year of your life brings you happiness and peace.”

DAVE

“I hope so too. Honestly, I’m just happy that people remembered me today.”

Melissa smiles.

MELISSA

“You deserve to have a good birthday.”

Dave laughs, and the atmosphere remains friendly.

Neither of them realizes that Amber is getting closer to the house.

SCENE 4 — AMBER SEES MELISSA

INT. DAVE’S HOUSE — MOMENTS LATER

The front door opens.

Amber walks inside carrying several things for Dave’s surprise celebration. At first, she has a smile on her face.

But the moment she sees Melissa sitting with Dave, her smile disappears.

Amber stops.

She looks at Melissa.

Then she looks at Dave.

Her expression becomes serious.

DAVE

“Amber…”

AMBER

“What is going on here?”

MELISSA

“I came to wish Dave a happy birthday.”

Amber looks at the birthday gift in Melissa’s hands.

AMBER

“I can see that.”

DAVE

“Amber, please don’t misunderstand. Melissa just came to surprise me.”

Amber remains quiet, but her expression shows that she is upset.

SCENE 5 — AMBER REVEALS HER PLAN

Dave notices the decorations Amber brought with her.

DAVE

“Wait a second. Were you planning something for me?”

Amber takes a breath.

AMBER

“Yes. I was planning a birthday party with your daughter.”

Dave looks surprised.

DAVE

“You were actually planning all of this?”

AMBER

“Yes. I wanted to surprise you. I wanted everything to be perfect.”

Dave looks at the decorations and realizes how much effort Amber has put into the celebration.

DAVE

“Amber, I had no idea. Thank you.”

For a moment, Amber feels better. But when she looks at Melissa again, her jealousy returns.

SCENE 6 — JEALOUSY TAKES OVER

INT. DAVE’S HOUSE — EVENING

Amber watches Dave and Melissa talking.

AMBER

“You seem really happy to see her.”

Dave looks confused.

DAVE

“I’m happy because she remembered my birthday. That doesn’t mean anything else.”

AMBER

“Maybe it doesn’t mean anything to you.”

Dave tries to keep the situation calm.

DAVE

“Amber, please don’t turn this into an argument.”

Amber looks emotional.

AMBER

“I spent all this time planning something for you. I wanted you to feel special.”

DAVE

“And I appreciate everything you did.”

Melissa realizes that the situation is becoming uncomfortable.

MELISSA

“I don’t want to cause any problems. I only came here to wish Dave a happy birthday.”

SCENE 7 — DAVE CALMS AMBER

Dave steps closer to Amber and speaks calmly.

DAVE

“Amber, listen to me. I’m grateful for what you planned. You wanted to make my birthday special, and I won’t forget that.”

Amber looks at him.

AMBER

“I just didn’t want to feel forgotten.”

DAVE

“You didn’t forget me. You were secretly planning a party for me.”

Amber slowly calms down.

DAVE

“Melissa wishing me happy birthday doesn’t take away from what you did.”

Amber takes a deep breath.

The tension in the room begins to fade.

SCENE 8 — THE BIRTHDAY PARTY

INT. DAVE’S HOUSE — LATER THAT EVENING

Dave’s daughter arrives with the remaining decorations. Soon, the entire room begins to look like a real birthday celebration.

Balloons are placed around the room. Lights shine across the walls, and a beautiful birthday cake is placed on the table.

DAVE’S DAUGHTER

“Okay, Dad! It’s time to make a wish.”

Dave smiles as everyone gathers around him.

He looks at Amber and then at the people who came to celebrate with him.

DAVE

“I already got my birthday wish.”

Everyone smiles.

Dave blows out the candles, and the room fills with applause.

Amber watches him happily.

Her anger has slowly disappeared.

SCENE 9 — AMBER AND DAVE TALK

EXT. DAVE’S HOUSE — NIGHT

After the celebration, Amber and Dave step outside for a quiet conversation.

AMBER

“I’m sorry I got so angry.”

DAVE

“I understand. You wanted to make my birthday special.”

AMBER

“I just didn’t want to feel like someone else mattered more than me.”

Dave looks at her seriously.

DAVE

“You matter to me. Melissa came here for one reason—to wish me happy birthday.”

Amber nods.

AMBER

“Okay. I believe you.”

Dave smiles.

DAVE

“Then come inside. It’s my birthday, and I want everyone to enjoy the night.”

Amber smiles and follows him back inside.
