The hospital room was unusually quiet that evening. 🌙 Bethany was resting
in her bed, still recovering from her surgery, when the door suddenly opened.
Larry walked in with a frustrated expression on his face. 😠 He had been
worried about Bethany for days, but his worry had slowly turned into anger
because he felt she had ignored every warning he had given her.
Bethany:
“Larry… why are you looking at me like that?”
Larry took a deep breath, trying to control himself.
Larry:
“Because I’m upset, Bethany. I told you before. I begged you not to go
through with this surgery.”
Bethany sighed and looked away.
Bethany:
“Larry, I know what you said. But I had to make my own decision.”
Larry:
“And now look at you! You’re lying here in a hospital bed recovering,
and you still act like nobody was trying to warn you.”
Bethany frowned.
Bethany:
“I didn’t do this because I wanted to hurt anybody. I thought it was the
right decision for me.”
Larry’s frustration grew. 😤
Larry:
“That’s exactly what I’m talking about! You never listen. I told you again
and again, ‘Bethany, think about this carefully.’
But you wouldn’t listen to me or anybody else.”
Bethany:
“Do you really think I wanted things to turn out this way?”
Larry paused. For a moment, his anger disappeared, and his concern became
obvious. ❤️🩹
Larry: “No… I don’t think you wanted this. But I’m scared,
Bethany. I’m angry because I care about you.”
Bethany:
“Then why are you yelling at me?”
Larry:
“Because sometimes I don’t know how else to get through to you.”
The room fell silent. The machines beside Bethany’s bed continued their
steady rhythm. 🏥
Larry:
“I told you not to have the surgery because I was worried something could
go wrong. I wanted you to slow down and think about everything.”
Bethany:
“I understand that now.”
Larry:
“Do you?”
Bethany:
“Yes. But what’s done is done. I can’t go back and change my decision.”
Larry sighed heavily.
Larry:
“You’re right. We can’t change the past.”
He sat down in the chair beside the bed.
Larry:
“But you can take care of yourself now. That’s what matters.”
Bethany:
“So you’re not angry anymore?”
Larry:
“I’m still frustrated. 😔 But I’m more worried than anything else.”
Bethany reached toward him.
Bethany:
“Larry…”
He gently took her hand.
Larry:
“Just promise me something.”
Bethany:
“What?”
Larry:
“From now on, don’t make major decisions without thinking about the
consequences. And please, listen when the people who love you are trying
to warn you.”
Bethany:
“I promise I’ll try.”
Larry:
“You better. Because I don’t want to see you back in here again.”
Bethany:
“You really were scared, weren’t you?”
Larry:
“More than you know.”
For the first time that evening, Bethany could see that Larry’s anger had
never really been about the surgery itself. It came from
fear, frustration, and genuine concern. 💔
Larry stood up.
Larry:
“Now you need to rest.”
Bethany:
“Yes, sir.”
Larry:
“Don’t get smart with me.”
Bethany chuckled, and the tension in the room finally began to fade. 😊
Larry walked toward the door, then stopped and looked back.
Larry:
“Bethany?”
Bethany:
“Yeah?”
Larry:
“I meant everything I said. I told you not to have the surgery because I
was worried. But now that it’s over, I’m going to be here while you recover.”
Bethany:
“Thank you, Larry.”
Larry:
“Get some rest.”
