D’NISHA CATCHES ANTHONY GIVING SHAYLA MONEY FOR KAI’S PARTY
Story Hook: Shayla is desperate to cover the remaining costs for Kai’s birthday party,
so she turns to Anthony for help. Anthony agrees and quietly gives her the money she needs.
But just as Shayla receives the cash, D’Nisha walks in and witnesses everything.

INT. ANTHONY’S HOUSE – LIVING ROOM – LATE AFTERNOON
The house is unusually quiet. Anthony sits on the couch with his phone in his hand,
casually scrolling through messages. A few party-related papers are spread across the coffee table.
Suddenly, Shayla enters the room. Her expression immediately tells Anthony that something is bothering her.
SHAYLA
Anthony, do you have a minute? I really need to talk to you.
ANTHONY
Of course. You look worried. What happened?
Shayla sits down across from him and hesitates for a few seconds before finally explaining.
SHAYLA
It’s Kai’s party. Everything is coming together, but I’m still short on money.
ANTHONY
Short how much?
SHAYLA
I still have decorations, food, and a few other things to pay for.
I thought I could handle it, but the expenses added up faster than I expected.
Anthony puts his phone on the table and gives Shayla his full attention.
ANTHONY
You should have told me before it got this stressful. How much do you need?
SHAYLA
Enough to finish everything without having to cancel anything.
Anthony thinks for a moment. Without making the situation complicated, he reaches into his pocket
and pulls out his wallet.
ANTHONY
Alright. I’ll take care of it.
SHAYLA
Seriously? You’re going to help me?
ANTHONY
Of course. It’s Kai’s birthday. I want him to enjoy his day.
Shayla’s worried expression turns into a small smile. Anthony counts the money
and places it in her hand.
ANTHONY
Here you go. Just make sure everything goes toward the party.
SHAYLA
I promise. Thank you, Anthony. You really helped me out.
Before Shayla can say another word, the front door suddenly opens.
D’Nisha walks inside—and immediately notices the money in Shayla’s hand.
D’NISHA WALKS IN
D’Nisha freezes near the entrance. Her eyes move from the cash in Shayla’s hand
to Anthony standing beside her. Her expression changes almost instantly.
D’NISHA
Wait a minute. What’s going on here?
Shayla looks uncomfortable. Anthony realizes immediately that this conversation
could become much more complicated than he expected.
ANTHONY
D’Nisha, let me explain.
D’NISHA
Explain what? Why is Shayla holding your money?
ANTHONY
It’s for Kai’s birthday party.
D’NISHA
You gave her money?
SHAYLA
D’Nisha, please. It’s not what you’re thinking.
D’NISHA
Then tell me what I’m supposed to think.
D’Nisha steps closer, her voice becoming more serious.
D’NISHA
You came here asking Anthony for money without even telling me?
SHAYLA
I needed help with Kai’s party. That’s all.
D’NISHA
And Anthony was more than happy to give it to you?
SHAYLA
He wanted to make sure Kai’s birthday went well.
D’Nisha slowly turns toward Anthony. Her frustration is now impossible to hide.
D’NISHA
So this is what we’re doing now? You give Shayla money whenever she asks?
ANTHONY
That’s not what happened.
D’NISHA
Then what happened?
ANTHONY
She needed help paying for Kai’s party. I had the ability to help, so I helped.
D’NISHA
And you didn’t think I deserved to know?
ANTHONY
I wasn’t trying to hide anything from you.
D’Nisha crosses her arms and stares at Anthony.
She understands what he is saying, but the fact that she had to walk in and discover it herself
still bothers her.
D’NISHA
That’s exactly the problem. I keep finding things out after everyone else already knows.
SHAYLA
I didn’t mean to leave you out.
D’NISHA
I’m not saying you meant to. I’m saying this could have been handled differently.
Anthony takes a deep breath and tries to calm both women before the argument gets worse.
ANTHONY
Look, nobody is trying to disrespect you. I helped Shayla because Kai is my son.
D’NISHA
Then why does it feel like I’m always the last person to know?
ANTHONY
Maybe I should have told you first. I can admit that.
D’Nisha pauses. She clearly did not expect Anthony to admit that so quickly.
ANTHONY
But helping Kai shouldn’t turn into an argument about Shayla and me.
D’NISHA
I’m not trying to make it about you and Shayla. I just want honesty.
ANTHONY
Then you have it. There’s nothing else going on.
D’Nisha studies Anthony’s face, trying to decide whether she believes him.
After a long pause, her expression softens slightly.
D’Nisha finally realizes that Anthony may have genuinely been trying to help his son.
But the secretive way the situation unfolded has left her with questions she is not ready to ignore.
D’NISHA
Fine. If this is really about Kai, then show me.
ANTHONY
Show you what?
D’NISHA
Show up for Kai. Be involved. Help with the party. Don’t just hand over money and disappear.
ANTHONY
I was never planning on disappearing. I’m going to be there.
D’NISHA
Good. Because I’ll be there too.
Anthony nods. Shayla quietly watches the exchange, realizing that what started
as a simple request for help has created a much bigger issue.
D’NISHA
And next time, Anthony, tell me before I have to walk in and find out myself.
ANTHONY
Fair enough.
D’Nisha turns and walks toward the hallway. She stops for a moment without looking back.
INT. HALLWAY – CONTINUOUS
D’Nisha takes a slow breath. She is calmer now, but something about the situation
still doesn’t sit right with her.
D’NISHA
I hope Anthony really understands what he’s getting himself into.
Back in the living room, Anthony looks toward the hallway.
Shayla quietly holds the money and realizes that Kai’s birthday celebration
may now come with a whole new set of problems.
What began as a simple favor has now created tension between Anthony, Shayla, and D’Nisha.
Everyone wants Kai to have a great birthday, but D’Nisha’s doubts have not completely disappeared.
And with the party getting closer, there may be another confrontation waiting to happen.
