Scene 1 — A Desperate Call
The evening had settled quietly over the city. Inside Cameron’s house, Brooke sat alone, staring at the phone in her hand. Her face was tense, her eyes tired, and desperation was beginning to replace the little hope she had left.
She knew she needed help.
Her own account was blocked, her phone bill was due, and she had nowhere to turn for the money she needed to secure a room. After hesitating for several seconds, Brooke opened Cameron’s contacts.
Her eyes stopped on Bethany’s name.
Brooke took a deep breath and pressed call.
📱 Ring… Ring…
Bethany eventually answered from her hospital room. She sounded exhausted, but the moment she heard Brooke’s voice, her expression changed.
Scene 2 — Bethany Answers
BETHANY:
“Brooke? Why are you calling me from Cameron’s phone? I wasn’t expecting to hear from you, especially this late, and honestly, the way you sound right now makes me think something serious has happened.”
Brooke swallowed hard, trying to control her emotions. She knew this conversation would not be easy. She had already rehearsed what she wanted to say, but now that Bethany was listening, the words felt much harder.
BROOKE:
“Bethany, I really need your help right now, and I honestly wouldn’t be calling unless I was desperate. Larry had my account blocked, and now I’m struggling to handle everything by myself.”
Bethany sat upright against her hospital pillow. She looked confused and concerned, trying to understand exactly what Brooke was asking from her.
BETHANY:
“Wait, Larry blocked your account? Brooke, what exactly happened, and why are you suddenly telling me this? I need you to explain everything before I can understand why you’re calling me.”
Brooke looked down at the floor. Her fingers tightened around Cameron’s phone.
Scene 3 — Brooke Explains Everything
BROOKE:
“Larry blocked my account, and now I can’t access the money I need. My phone bill is due, and I also need enough money to rent a room because I can’t keep living like this without somewhere secure.”
Bethany’s face became even more serious. She had expected an ordinary conversation, but Brooke’s situation sounded increasingly complicated.
BETHANY:
“I’m sorry you’re dealing with all of that, but Brooke, you know this puts me in a difficult position. Why are you asking me for money when there are already so many problems surrounding you?”
Brooke’s voice became softer. She knew Bethany was hesitant, but she wasn’t ready to give up.
BROOKE:
“Because I don’t have anyone else I can ask right now. I’m not asking you to support me forever, Bethany. I just need enough to get through this situation, and I promise I’ll pay you back.”
Bethany looked away from the phone for a moment. She was clearly uncomfortable, but Brooke continued pushing her case.
Scene 4 — The Pressure Builds
BETHANY:
“Brooke, I understand that you’re desperate, but promises are easy to make when someone is under pressure. I need to know that whatever money I send won’t create another problem for me later.”
Brooke immediately responded, almost as though she had been waiting for that question.
BROOKE:
“I understand why you’re worried, but please believe me this time. I only need help with my phone bill and getting a room. Once I’m stable again, I’ll find a way to return everything.”
There was silence on the other end.
Bethany closed her eyes and took a slow breath. She knew Brooke was putting emotional pressure on her, but she could also hear the desperation in Brooke’s voice.
BETHANY:
“You’re really putting me in a difficult position, Brooke. I don’t want to make a decision I’ll regret, but I also don’t want to ignore you when you’re telling me that you have nowhere else to turn.”
Brooke’s eyes filled with tears.
Scene 5 — Bethany Finally Gives In
BROOKE:
“Please, Bethany, I’m begging you. Just help me this one time. I’m trying to get my phone working and find somewhere to stay, and without some money right now, I honestly don’t know what I’m going to do.”
Bethany remained silent for several seconds.
Finally, she sighed.
Her expression suggested that she had made a decision she wasn’t completely comfortable with.
BETHANY:
“Okay, Brooke. I’ll help you this time, but I need you to understand that I’m doing this because you say you genuinely need it. I’m trusting you to keep your promise and repay me later.”
Brooke immediately looked relieved.
For the first time during the conversation, a small smile appeared on her face.
BROOKE:
“Thank you, Bethany. Seriously, thank you. I knew you would understand what I’m going through. I promise I won’t forget this, and I’ll make sure you get your money back.”
But then Bethany asked the question Brooke had been waiting for.
Scene 6 — The Account Problem
BETHANY:
“Alright, but where am I supposed to send the money? You said Larry blocked your account, so I obviously can’t send it there. Do you have another account that you can access?”
Brooke quickly shook her head.
She had already thought about this.
BROOKE:
“That’s the problem. My account is completely blocked, so I can’t receive anything there. I’m going to send you Cameron’s account information instead. You can send the money there, and I’ll get it from him.”
Bethany immediately became cautious again.
BETHANY:
“Cameron’s account? Brooke, are you sure this is okay? I don’t want to send money somewhere without knowing exactly where it’s going, especially after everything you’ve already told me.”
Brooke quickly reassured her.
BROOKE:
“Yes, Bethany, it’s okay. Cameron knows I’m using his phone, and since my account is blocked, this is the only way I can receive the money right now. Please just send it there, and I’ll handle everything.”
Bethany stared at her phone.
She knew she was taking a risk.
Scene 7 — The Transfer & Hidden Danger
Brooke opened the account details and carefully sent the information to Bethany.
📱 Message Sent.
Bethany looked at the details on her screen.
The room around her suddenly felt strangely quiet.
BETHANY:
“I’ve received the account information. I’m going to send the money, Brooke, but I need you to understand that this is a serious favor. Please don’t make me regret believing you today.”
Brooke nodded, even though Bethany couldn’t see her.
BROOKE:
“You won’t regret it, Bethany. I swear. I just need to get through this moment, pay what I owe, and find somewhere to stay. After that, I’ll figure everything else out.”
Bethany finally initiated the transfer.
💸 Payment Sent.
Brooke’s eyes immediately moved to the screen.
A few seconds later, she saw the confirmation.
Her shoulders relaxed.
She had gotten the money she desperately needed.
But there was something Bethany didn’t know.
Brooke had used Cameron’s phone to make the entire request.
And now Cameron’s account was involved.
What would Larry think when he learned that Brooke had contacted Bethany using Cameron’s phone and directed the money into Cameron’s account? 😳
