1. A Conversation That Wasn’t Supposed to Get This Serious

Purnell stood quietly talking with Bethany, keeping his usual slick and controlled attitude. The conversation had started with Bethany discussing her recent weight loss and everything she believed had gone wrong during her medical journey.

Bethany’s voice carried frustration as she explained that she felt she had been “robbed by the doctors.” She believed she had gone through too much without getting the results or treatment she expected.

Purnell listened carefully, barely changing his expression. He nodded occasionally, giving Bethany the impression that he understood.

Purnell simply smiled. He didn’t argue. He didn’t react emotionally. Instead, he remained calm and almost strangely relaxed.

2. Purnell Had Something Else on His Mind

While Bethany continued talking, Purnell’s thoughts quietly shifted toward Larry. He was thinking about the divorce situation and wondering when Larry would finally be able to serve Bethany the divorce papers.

Purnell knew the situation between Larry and Bethany had become increasingly tense. Every conversation seemed to carry another layer of suspicion, frustration, and unfinished business.

He kept his thoughts hidden behind a calm expression. To Bethany, however, that calmness began to look suspicious.

She couldn’t shake the feeling that Purnell knew something she didn’t.

3. Bethany Was Listening From the Shadows

Later, Bethany secretly listened as Purnell and Larry continued their conversation. She stayed close enough to hear pieces of what they were saying without making her presence obvious.

The more she heard, the angrier she became.

Bethany’s face tightened. Her eyes moved between Larry and Purnell, and her expression revealed a mixture of hurt, suspicion, and disbelief.

In her mind, Purnell wasn’t simply having a conversation anymore. She began to believe that he was somehow plotting against her.

She didn’t confront them immediately. Instead, she remained silent. That silence made the atmosphere even more uncomfortable.

4. Larry and Purnell Head Outside

Eventually, the conversation ended. Purnell gathered his things and announced that he was leaving.

Larry walked outside with him, intending to see him off. Purnell headed toward his parked car while Larry followed a few steps behind.

Neither man noticed what was happening inside the house.

Behind them, Bethany was still overwhelmed by everything she had heard. Her anger had reached a breaking point.

Then she spotted something nearby that would suddenly change the entire situation: a wooden hockey stick.

5. Bethany Comes Storming Outside

The door suddenly opened.

Bethany stormed outside with the hockey stick tightly gripped in one hand. Her face was filled with anger and emotional frustration.

Larry immediately turned around.

Purnell stopped beside his car.

For a moment, neither man understood what Bethany was about to do.

She marched toward them with determined steps. Larry’s expression changed from confusion to concern. Purnell remained still, staring at her.

Bethany didn’t answer.

She kept walking.

6. The Window Shatters

Suddenly, Bethany raised the hockey stick and swung it toward Purnell’s parked car.

CRASH!

The stick smashed into the side window. Glass shattered across the door and scattered onto the ground.

Purnell froze.

Larry froze.

Neither man had expected Bethany to go that far.

Purnell stared at the shattered window in disbelief before slowly looking back at Bethany.

Larry’s mouth dropped open. He appeared completely stunned by what he had just witnessed.

Bethany stood beside the damaged car, still holding the hockey stick. Her breathing was heavy, and her expression remained filled with anger.

7. But Why Did Bethany Do It?

For several seconds, nobody said a word.

Purnell looked at Larry as if expecting him to explain what had just happened. Larry looked back at Bethany, struggling to understand how the conversation inside had suddenly turned into this explosive confrontation.

Bethany finally looked directly at Purnell. There was something different in her expression now—not just anger, but the feeling that she believed she had uncovered something.

Larry stepped forward carefully.

Bethany tightened her grip on the hockey stick. She looked at Larry, then at Purnell, but remained silent.

Purnell’s calm expression disappeared. For the first time, he looked genuinely worried.
