A Dramatic Story of Love, Doubt & Heartbreak

INT. ANTHONY’S HOUSE – LIVING ROOM – EVENING

The house is unusually quiet. Anthony stands near the center of the living room, staring at D’Nisha. The tension between them has been building for several minutes.

D’Nisha looks frustrated. She folds her arms and takes a slow breath.

ANTHONY

So you’re really going to sit here and act like none of this matters?

D’Nisha looks at him, hurt by his words.

D’NISHA

What do you want me to say?

ANTHONY

I just feel like sometimes you’re not serious about me.

D’Nisha’s expression changes. She looks genuinely offended.

D’NISHA

Not serious about you?

Anthony doesn’t answer immediately. D’Nisha steps closer.

D’NISHA

If you really think I’m only spending time with you just to have fun, then what do you expect me to do?

Anthony looks away.

ANTHONY

That’s not what I meant.

D’NISHA

But that’s exactly what you made me feel.

D’Nisha grabs her purse from the table. Anthony watches her, realizing that his words have pushed her too far.

EXT. ANTHONY’S HOUSE – CONTINUOUS

D’Nisha walks outside, angry and hurt. She pulls out her phone and scrolls through her contacts.

Her finger stops on one name — Wayne.

D’NISHA

Are you busy tonight?

WAYNE

Not really. Why?

D’NISHA

I was wondering if you wanted to have dinner with me.

Wayne pauses for a moment before smiling.

WAYNE

Sure. Where?

D’NISHA

There’s a restaurant I’ve been wanting to try.

D’Nisha ends the call and takes a deep breath. She finally feels a little better.

INT. ANTHONY’S HOUSE – MOMENTS LATER

Anthony discovers that D’Nisha is heading to a restaurant. But he has no idea who she is meeting.

ANTHONY

A restaurant? Who is she meeting?

Anthony grabs his keys and decides to follow her. He wants answers, even though he doesn’t know what he is about to see.

EXT. RESTAURANT – NIGHT

D’Nisha arrives at the restaurant and walks toward the entrance.

Anthony parks farther away and watches from inside his car.

Suddenly, another vehicle pulls into the parking lot.

Wayne steps out.

D’Nisha sees him and immediately smiles. She walks toward him.

D’Nisha and Wayne warmly hug each other before walking inside together.

Anthony watches everything from his car. His expression changes completely.

ANTHONY

Wayne?

INT. RESTAURANT – NIGHT

D’Nisha and Wayne sit together at a quiet table. The atmosphere between them feels comfortable.

WAYNE

You seem happier now.

D’NISHA

Maybe I just needed to get out of the house.

WAYNE

Something happened?

D’NISHA

Anthony and I had an argument.

WAYNE

About what?

D’NISHA

He made me feel like he thinks I’m only around him because I have nothing better to do.

Wayne looks surprised. D’Nisha lowers her eyes for a moment.

WAYNE

Sometimes people say things when they’re scared.

D’NISHA

And what do you think he’s scared of?

WAYNE

Losing you.

D’Nisha becomes quiet. The words stay with her.

EXT. RESTAURANT – SAME TIME

Anthony sits inside his car, watching D’Nisha and Wayne through the restaurant window.

They talk and laugh together. Then Wayne places his hand over D’Nisha’s hand.

Anthony’s face falls.

ANTHONY

I didn’t think it was like this.

He looks away for a moment, trying to control his emotions.

ANTHONY

I really didn’t.

INT. RESTAURANT – LATER

D’Nisha and Wayne continue talking. The conversation feels easy, and D’Nisha laughs again.

WAYNE

There you go.

D’NISHA

What?

WAYNE

That smile.

D’Nisha looks at him.

WAYNE

You looked so upset when you called me.

D’NISHA

I was.

WAYNE

You don’t have to stay upset all night.

Wayne gently holds her hand. D’Nisha looks down at their hands and then back at him.

D’NISHA

Thank you for coming.

WAYNE

You didn’t even have to ask twice.

EXT. RESTAURANT PARKING LOT – NIGHT

Anthony finally steps out of his car. He stands across the parking area, looking toward the restaurant.

For a moment, he considers walking inside.

But he stops.

The sight of D’Nisha with Wayne is too painful.

ANTHONY

Maybe I pushed her too far.

Anthony lowers his head. He remembers their argument and D’Nisha’s question: if he believed she was only spending time with him for fun, what did he expect her to do?

Now, seeing her with Wayne, Anthony realizes how deeply his words may have hurt her.

INT. RESTAURANT – CONTINUOUS

D’Nisha suddenly looks toward the window.

WAYNE

What is it?

D’Nisha looks again, but Anthony has already stepped away.

D’NISHA

Nothing.

She turns back toward Wayne. They continue their conversation, unaware that Anthony was watching them.

EXT. RESTAURANT – NIGHT

Anthony walks slowly toward his car. He stops beside the driver’s door and looks back at the restaurant one final time.

Through the glass, he sees D’Nisha and Wayne still sitting together.

ANTHONY

I just wanted to know if she was serious about me.

Anthony pauses.

ANTHONY

But now I don’t even know if she still wants me.

Anthony gets into his car and drives away.

INT. RESTAURANT – NIGHT

D’Nisha and Wayne continue their dinner. Neither of them knows that Anthony was outside.

D’Nisha looks down at her phone. There are no new messages.

She puts the phone back on the table.

WAYNE

You still thinking about him?

D’Nisha looks up. She doesn’t answer immediately.

D’NISHA

I don’t know.

Wayne waits patiently.

D’NISHA

I just don’t know what I’m supposed to feel anymore.

Wayne looks at her quietly.

The dinner continues, but the situation between D’Nisha and Anthony has become more complicated than ever.

Anthony drives home with a broken heart, wondering whether the woman he cares about is slowly slipping away from him.
