Bethany and Larry’s Marriage Counseling

Marriage Counseling Turns Into Another Battle!

1. Bethany Makes the Call

Bethany had finally reached the point where she knew something had to change. Her marriage with Larry had become one argument after another, and neither of them seemed willing to listen to what the other was saying. After their latest fight, Bethany picked up her phone and called a marriage counseling office.

She explained the situation to a counseling agent and asked her to come to the house. The agent agreed and arrived later that day with a folder, a notebook, and plenty of patience. She immediately noticed the tension between Larry and Bethany. Larry sat quietly while Bethany looked frustrated and ready to defend herself.

The counselor smiled and told them that the purpose of the session was not to decide who was right or wrong. She wanted both of them to understand each other and find a healthier way to communicate.

2. Larry and Bethany Tell Their Sides

The counselor first asked Larry to sit with her privately. She wanted to hear his side of the marriage without Bethany interrupting. Larry explained the problems he believed had damaged their relationship. He talked about their arguments, misunderstandings, and the times he felt Bethany refused to listen.

The counselor carefully wrote everything down and then asked Larry several questions about how he handled disagreements. Instead of blaming Bethany, she encouraged him to think about his own behavior as well.

After Larry finished, the counselor spoke to Bethany alone. Bethany gave her own version of the marriage. She explained why she became angry, what she believed Larry had done wrong, and why she often felt that Larry did not understand her.

The counselor listened patiently. She noticed that both of them had completely different interpretations of the same problems. Each believed the other person was responsible for most of their arguments.

3. Two Hours of Counseling

Nearly two hours passed as the counselor worked with Larry and Bethany. She explained that marriage required communication, patience, boundaries, and respect. She told them that winning an argument was less important than solving the actual problem.

She gave them simple rules: no shouting, no insulting each other, and no interrupting while the other person was speaking. Larry agreed. Bethany also agreed, although she still looked unconvinced.

Finally, the counselor sat between them and said that they had to make an effort if they wanted their marriage to improve.

“From today onward, I don’t want either of you fighting over every little thing,” she said. “You both need to listen before reacting.”

For a moment, the room became completely quiet. Larry nodded. Bethany also appeared to calm down.

4. Bethany Finds Something to Argue About

The counselor thought the session had finally succeeded. She began packing her notes when Bethany suddenly looked at her suspiciously.

“Why are you being so friendly with my husband?” Bethany asked.

The counselor froze. Larry looked at Bethany in disbelief.

“Bethany, she’s literally here to help us,” Larry said.

But Bethany continued. She felt the counselor had been paying too much attention to Larry during the session. The counselor tried to explain that she had been asking Larry questions because that was part of the counseling process.

Instead of calming down, Bethany started arguing with Larry again. Larry pointed toward Bethany and told the counselor that she became angry very quickly and that this was exactly why they kept returning to the same problems.

“See? This is what I’ve been talking about!” Larry exclaimed.

Bethany immediately became even more upset. The peaceful counseling session that had lasted two hours suddenly turned into another heated argument.

5. The Counselor Finally Loses Her Patience

The counselor tried several times to stop them, but Larry and Bethany kept talking over each other. She looked exhausted after spending hours trying to bring peace between them.

Finally, the counselor put her hands over her head and sat down on the floor, completely overwhelmed by the situation.

“I came here to help you two communicate,” she said, “but somehow we’re back where we started!”

Larry became quiet, while Bethany crossed her arms and continued looking annoyed. The counselor took a deep breath and told them that if they could not control their arguments, they might need a different kind of professional support. She jokingly added that after this session, even she might need a vacation!

But just when Larry thought the counseling session was finally over, the counselor’s phone suddenly rang. She looked at the screen, her expression changed, and she quietly stepped away from Larry and Bethany.

“Hello?” she whispered. “Yes… I remember that name. Are you saying you already know what happened between Larry and Bethany?”

Larry and Bethany looked at each other in shock. Who was calling the counselor, and what secret had she just discovered about their marriage?
