Unable to figure out what happened, Brooke immediately calls her dad, Larry.

Scene 4 — Larry Pretends He Knows Nothing

Larry answers the phone and acts completely shocked.

Brooke has no idea that Larry already knows exactly where the car is.

The truth is that while Brooke wasn’t home, Larry had taken the car himself. He drove it to a dealership and arranged to sell it.

Larry had originally given Brooke the car as a gift, but he had started regretting that decision.

Larry’s real goal is to get Brooke to focus on college and become more responsible.

He believes that without the distraction of the car, Brooke may finally start taking her education, work, and future seriously.
