The Living Room
The house is unusually quiet. Brooke stands across the living room, visibly frustrated. Larry sits nearby, already at the end of his patience. Bethany watches them both, sensing that another argument is about to begin.
Larry slowly looks toward Brooke.
LARRY: I’m tired of the disrespect, Brooke. Every time I try to talk to you, you argue back.
Brooke rolls her eyes.
BROOKE: Because you never listen to what I have to say.
Larry shakes his head, trying to remain calm. Bethany steps forward.
BETHANY: Brooke, you need to change your attitude. You keep pushing Larry, and eventually he’s going to tell you to leave this house.
Brooke looks at Bethany with disbelief.
BROOKE: You’re taking his side too?
Bethany sighs.
BETHANY: I’m telling you the truth. You need to calm down before things go too far.
Brooke turns away. Larry takes a deep breath. The tension in the room continues to rise.
The Car Keys
Brooke suddenly turns back toward Larry.
BROOKE: Give me my car keys back.
Larry looks at her firmly.
LARRY: No.
Brooke’s expression immediately changes.
BROOKE: What do you mean, no? Those are my keys.
Larry stands up.
LARRY: I said no. You’re not getting them back right now.
Brooke steps closer.
BROOKE: You can’t just keep my keys from me!
Larry remains firm.
LARRY: And you can’t keep disrespecting everyone in this house and expect there to be no consequences.
Brooke raises her voice.
BROOKE: You always want to control everything!
Larry’s patience finally begins to disappear. Bethany watches nervously from the side.
BETHANY: Both of you, please calm down.
Neither of them responds. The confrontation becomes more intense.
Larry Draws the Line
Larry points toward the hallway. His voice is now serious.
LARRY: That’s enough, Brooke.
Brooke stares at him.
LARRY: Go pack your things.
Brooke freezes.
BROOKE: What?
Larry doesn’t hesitate.
LARRY: You heard me. Pack your things and leave this house.
Bethany immediately steps forward.
BETHANY: Larry, wait. Maybe you should calm down before making a decision like this.
Larry looks at Bethany but remains determined.
LARRY: No, Bethany. I’ve tried talking to her. I’ve tried warning her. Nothing changes.
Brooke crosses her arms.
BROOKE: I’m not going anywhere.
Larry looks directly at her.
LARRY: This is your last warning. If you refuse to go to college and continue treating people like this, I’m not going to keep listening to excuses.
Brooke looks away.
LARRY: Go pack your things. You need to leave.
Brooke Walks Away
Brooke refuses to answer. She turns around and walks toward her room. Larry watches her disappear down the hallway.
Bethany approaches him carefully.
BETHANY: Larry, please. Don’t make this worse.
Larry shakes his head.
LARRY: I’ve given her enough chances.
Bethany looks worried.
BETHANY: But she’s still family.
Larry pauses. His expression softens for only a moment. Then the frustration returns.
LARRY: Family doesn’t mean you can disrespect everyone and expect nothing to happen.
Bethany remains silent.
Packing the Belongings
A few moments later, Brooke comes back into the hallway. She still refuses to cooperate. Larry walks toward Brooke’s room.
LARRY: If you won’t pack your things, I’ll make sure they’re ready for you.
Bethany follows behind him.
BETHANY: Larry, please think about this.
Larry begins gathering Brooke’s belongings. Brooke watches from a distance, shocked that Larry is actually following through.
BROOKE: You’re seriously doing this?
Larry doesn’t look at her.
LARRY: You were warned.
He carries the packed belongings outside. One bag after another is placed near the front entrance. Brooke’s anger begins to turn into disbelief.
Outside the House
The front door opens. Larry brings the final bag outside. Brooke follows him.
BROOKE: Larry, you can’t just throw me out!
Larry sets the bag down.
LARRY: I told you to change your behavior. I told you what would happen if you kept pushing me.
Brooke shakes her head.
BROOKE: This isn’t fair.
Larry looks at her firmly.
LARRY: You made your choice.
Bethany comes outside. She stands between them, trying to calm the situation.
BETHANY: Larry, please. Give her a little time to cool down.
Larry takes a breath.
LARRY: She needs to understand that actions have consequences.
Brooke looks at the bags beside her. For the first time, she realizes that Larry is serious.
The Final Warning
Brooke turns toward the front door.
BROOKE: You really want me gone?
Larry answers without hesitation.
LARRY: Right now, yes.
Bethany looks at Larry.
BETHANY: Larry…
Larry gently shakes his head.
LARRY: Bethany, I’ve made my decision.
Brooke looks between them.
BROOKE: I can’t believe you’re doing this.
Larry points toward the bags.
LARRY: Take your things and go somewhere safe. We can talk when everyone has calmed down.
Brooke remains silent. Bethany moves closer to her.
BETHANY: Brooke, please don’t make this harder than it already is.
Brooke looks away.
The Door Closes
Brooke picks up one of her bags. Larry remains at the doorway. Bethany watches with sadness.
BROOKE: This isn’t over.
Larry looks at her.
LARRY: Maybe not. But tonight, this argument is.
Brooke walks away from the house with her belongings. Bethany looks at Larry.
BETHANY: Are you sure this was the right thing to do?
Larry stays quiet for a moment. The anger on his face slowly fades.
LARRY: I don’t know.
He looks toward Brooke disappearing down the street.
LARRY: But something had to change.
Bethany sighs. The front door slowly closes. Inside, the house becomes completely silent.
Outside, Brooke continues walking, still angry and hurt by everything that just happened. The night feels different now.
A family argument has turned into a decision that could change everything.
The front door closes on a silent house, while outside, Brooke walks into the dark, carrying her bags and a promise that this isn’t over.
