Shayla Shows Up at Anthony’s House
Shayla came asking Anthony for rent money. Anthony said no. But it was D’Nisha walking down the stairs that turned a simple refusal into a full-blown confrontation.

Anthony’s Living Room

The house is quiet. Anthony is sitting in the living room, trying to enjoy a peaceful moment when a knock suddenly comes from the front door.

He looks toward the door, confused. Another knock. Anthony gets up and opens it. Shayla is standing outside. She looks worried and desperate.

ANTHONY: What are you doing here, Shayla?

Shayla takes a deep breath and steps inside. She looks nervous, but she knows exactly why she came.

SHAYLA: Anthony, please. I really need your help.

Anthony looks at her cautiously.

ANTHONY: Help with what?

Shayla moves closer, trying to convince him.

SHAYLA: Please give me the money for my rent. I’m serious. If I don’t pay it, my landlord is going to kick me out.

Anthony immediately shakes his head. He doesn’t look interested in hearing another explanation.

ANTHONY: No, Shayla.

Shayla looks shocked by his quick response.

SHAYLA: Please, Anthony. I’m begging you. I wouldn’t come here if I had another option.

Anthony folds his arms.

ANTHONY: I already told you. I’m not giving you any money.

Shayla continues trying to explain herself.

SHAYLA: You don’t understand. I need the money right now. I could lose my place.

Anthony’s expression becomes firm.

ANTHONY: I understand exactly what you’re saying. But my answer is still no.

Shayla looks frustrated.

SHAYLA: Anthony, please. Just help me this one time.

Anthony shakes his head again.

ANTHONY: I’m not giving you even one dollar.

The room suddenly becomes silent. Shayla stares at him, realizing that Anthony isn’t going to change his mind. But neither of them notices that someone is coming downstairs.

The Staircase

D’Nisha slowly walks down the stairs. She hears voices coming from the living room. She pauses. Then she sees Shayla standing with Anthony. Her expression immediately changes.

D’Nisha is surprised. Then angry. She walks toward them.

D’NISHA: Shayla?

Shayla turns around. Anthony looks toward D’Nisha. D’Nisha walks closer, clearly unhappy about seeing Shayla inside the house.

D’NISHA: What are you doing here?

Shayla remains calm.

SHAYLA: I came to talk to Anthony.

D’Nisha raises an eyebrow.

D’NISHA: About what?

Shayla looks toward Anthony. Before she can explain, Anthony answers.

ANTHONY: She came here asking me for money.

D’Nisha looks at Shayla.

D’NISHA: Money?

Anthony nods.

ANTHONY: She needs money for her rent.

D’Nisha lets out a frustrated breath.

D’NISHA: So you came all the way here to ask Anthony to pay your rent?

Shayla looks uncomfortable.

SHAYLA: I’m in a difficult situation, okay?

D’Nisha shakes her head.

D’NISHA: That’s not Anthony’s responsibility.

Shayla’s expression hardens.

SHAYLA: I didn’t ask you for anything.

D’Nisha steps closer.

D’NISHA: But you came into this house asking Anthony for money.

Anthony watches the two women carefully. He can already feel the tension rising.

The Argument

Shayla takes a step forward.

SHAYLA: I told you, I have a problem and I needed help.

D’Nisha responds immediately.

D’NISHA: Then figure it out yourself. Why are you putting this on Anthony?

Shayla becomes defensive.

SHAYLA: You don’t know what I’m going through.

D’NISHA: And you don’t know what Anthony has going on either.

Anthony raises his hands, trying to calm them down.

ANTHONY: Both of you, relax.

Neither woman backs down. Shayla looks at D’Nisha.

SHAYLA: I came here to speak to Anthony, not you.

D’Nisha responds firmly.

D’NISHA: Well, you’re standing in my house, so I’m going to ask questions.

Shayla looks around.

SHAYLA: I’m not trying to cause a problem.

D’Nisha shakes her head.

D’NISHA: Then stop asking Anthony for money.

Shayla becomes increasingly frustrated.

SHAYLA: You act like I wanted to come here and ask him. I’m trying to keep a roof over my head!

D’Nisha pauses. For a moment, the room is completely silent. Anthony looks between them.

ANTHONY: Shayla, I already told you my answer.

Shayla turns toward him.

SHAYLA: So you really won’t help me?

Anthony remains firm.

ANTHONY: No. I’m sorry, but I can’t.

Shayla looks disappointed. D’Nisha watches her closely.

Tension Boils Over

Shayla turns back toward D’Nisha.

SHAYLA: You seem really happy about this.

D’Nisha immediately responds.

D’NISHA: I’m not happy about your situation. I’m upset that you keep coming here expecting Anthony to solve your problems.

Shayla shakes her head.

SHAYLA: You don’t know me.

D’NISHA: I know enough.

The argument becomes louder. Anthony steps between them.

ANTHONY: Enough! This is getting out of hand.

D’Nisha looks at Anthony.

D’NISHA: She came here asking you for money.

Anthony nods.

ANTHONY: I know. And I already said no.

Shayla looks toward Anthony one last time.

SHAYLA: Fine. If you won’t help me, I’ll figure something out myself.

D’Nisha crosses her arms.

D’NISHA: That’s what you should do.

Shayla looks at her angrily.

SHAYLA: You really didn’t have to talk to me like that.

D’NISHA: And you didn’t have to come here asking my man for money.

Anthony looks stunned by the direction of the conversation.

ANTHONY: D’Nisha…

She turns toward him.

D’NISHA: What?

Anthony pauses. He clearly doesn’t want the situation to become any worse.

ANTHONY: I just want everybody to calm down.

Shayla takes a step back. The tension in the room remains heavy.

The Final Confrontation

Shayla grabs her things and prepares to leave. Before walking away, she turns around.

SHAYLA: I came here because I needed help. I didn’t come here looking for an argument.

D’Nisha looks at her. Her anger begins to settle, but she remains firm.

D’NISHA: Then don’t make Anthony responsible for your rent.

Shayla looks toward Anthony. He doesn’t say anything. She nods slowly.

SHAYLA: Okay. I understand.

She walks toward the front door. Anthony watches her leave. D’Nisha remains standing in the living room. The door closes. Silence fills the house.

Anthony looks at D’Nisha.

ANTHONY: That got intense really fast.
