The evening at Larry and Bethanyâs house was unusually quiet.
After everything they had been through, both of them knew their
marriage needed something different. They had argued,
misunderstood each other, and struggled to see eye to eye.
But Bethany wasnât ready to give up.
đĄ Bethany had been thinking about one idea for daysâa
business they could start together.
Bethany walked into the room where Larry was sitting and took
a deep breath.
Bethany:
âLarry, can I talk to you about something?â
Larry:
âWhatâs on your mind?â
Bethany:
âIâve been thinking about our future. What if we started a
business together?â
Larry:
âA business? Together?â
Bethany:
âYes. I honestly think this business could be the thing
that helps fix our marriage.â
Larry paused. He wasnât convinced.
Larry:
âBethany, we already have enough problems between us.
You really think starting a business together is going
to fix everything?â
Bethany:
âI donât think the business itself will magically fix our
marriage. But I think working toward something together
could help us reconnect.â
Larry leaned back and thought about it.
Larry:
âAnd what exactly do you have in mind?â
Bethany explained her idea, including how they could build
something that would benefit their family and give them a
new project to focus on. She was excited, but Larry remained
cautious.
Larry:
âI hear you, but I donât want this turning into another
situation where youâre forcing me into something.â
Bethany:
âIâm not trying to force you, Larry. I just want us to
try something different.â
Larry:
âYouâre really serious about this, huh?â
Bethany:
âI am.â
đ„ After a long conversation, Larry finally gave inânot
because Bethany forced him, but because he decided the
idea deserved a chance.
Larry:
âAlright. Letâs do it.â
Bethany:
âReally?â
Larry:
âYeah. Weâll start the business.â
Bethany:
âI knew we could figure this out.â đ
â ïž Larry Sets One Important Rule
But Larry wasnât finished. He looked directly at Bethany
and made one thing very clear.
Larry:
âThereâs something you need to understand.â
Bethany:
âWhat?â
Larry:
âIf weâre doing this, I donât want you controlling everything.
I donât want you constantly stepping into every decision I make.â
Bethany listened carefully.
Larry:
âYou can be part of the business, but you have to trust me too.
I donât want this business becoming another reason for us to fight.â
Bethany:
âOkay. I understand.â
Larry:
âPromise me you wonât interfere with everything I do in
this business.â
Bethany:
âLarry, I promise.â
Larry:
âYou mean that?â
Bethany:
âI mean it. Iâm not going to betray your trust. Iâm not
going to get in your way. If weâre going to make this work,
we have to respect each other.â
â€ïž Bethany: âI donât want this business to
separate us. I want it to bring us closer.â
Larry:
âThen letâs make sure we do this the right way.â
đđŒ A New Business Begins
The next morning, Larry and Bethany officially began putting
their plans into action. They discussed the name, the
responsibilities, the finances, and what they wanted the
business to become.
For the first time in a while, they were sitting together
without arguing.
Bethany:
âYou know, this feels different.â
Larry:
âDifferent how?â
Bethany:
âWeâre actually working together.â
Larry:
âMaybe thatâs what we needed.â
But neither of them knew what the future would bring.
Starting a business was one thing. Keeping their marriage
strong while working together was something completely different.
đ„ Bethany had promised Larry that she would respect his
space and not interfere. Larry had promised to give the
businessâand their relationshipâa real chance.
Now, they had to prove that their promises meant something.
As they continued planning, Bethany looked at Larry.
Bethany:
âWhatever happens with this business, I want you to know something.â
Larry:
âWhat?â
Bethany:
âIâm not giving up on us.â
Larry:
âThen letâs not give up.â
â€ïž A New Chapter Begins
The two exchanged a hopeful smile. â€ïž
Their new business had officially begunâbut more
importantly, so had a new chapter in their marriage.
And if they could keep their promises, communicate,
and work together, this business might become much more
than a way to make money.
It might become the second chance their marriage
desperately needed. đŒâ€ïžâš
