1. Mariah Decides to Leave Home

The atmosphere in the room had grown so tense that it felt difficult to even breathe. Mariah had opened her large travel bag on the bed and was stuffing her clothes into it, one after another. Her mother stood at the doorway with tearful eyes, while her father paced angrily in the hallway.

Her father warned her that Isaiah was not suitable for her and that she was making a dangerous decision. But Mariah insisted that she was nineteen years old, had a job, paid her own expenses, and had the right to make decisions about her own life.

2. A Journey Toward Philadelphia

Mariah zipped her bag shut, placed it over her shoulder, and walked past her parents. Her mother’s tears and her father’s anger could no longer stop her.

She opened the heavy wooden door and stepped into the cold night air. Without looking back, she walked toward the taxi waiting outside and headed to the train station.

Inside the train, darkness spread outside the window while memories of home filled her mind. She remembered her mother’s tea, her father’s advice, and the safe home where she had spent eighteen years.

3. The Reality of Isaiah’s World

Late at night, Mariah finally arrived at Philadelphia’s central station. She immediately texted Isaiah and told him that she had arrived.

Fifteen minutes later, Isaiah arrived in his old car. Mariah expected warmth and excitement, but his reaction was different from what she had imagined.

Isaiah admitted that he was not prepared for her sudden arrival and that his own life was complicated. When Mariah reached his small apartment, she realized that reality was very different from the beautiful future she had imagined.

The apartment was messy and lacked the comfort and peace she was used to at home. That night, Mariah quietly cried on the small sofa.

Mariah picked up her phone and called her mother. On the second ring, her mother’s trembling voice answered.

Tears filled Mariah’s eyes. Her voice was no longer filled with stubbornness. Instead, there was a new sense of maturity and understanding.
