Brooke Finds Isaiah With Mariah
Brooke arrives with her luggage, hoping to see Isaiah. But when the door opens, she finds him with Mariah.
SCENE 1 — ISAIAH’S HOUSE — EVENING
The evening is quiet.
The front door of Isaiah’s house is only a few steps away as Isaiah and Mariah walk toward it together.
Mariah has just returned from Atlanta.
Isaiah carries a small bag while Mariah walks beside him, looking relieved to finally be home.
They exchange a quiet smile.
Neither of them notices the car stopping nearby.
Brooke steps out.
She has a suitcase in her hand.
Her face is tired, and her eyes are filled with emotion.
She looks toward Isaiah’s house.
For a moment, she stands still.
She takes a deep breath and slowly walks toward the front door.
She believes Isaiah will be happy to see her.
She believes everything between them can still be fixed.
But she has no idea what she is about to see.
SCENE 2 — FRONT DOOR
Isaiah reaches the door with Mariah beside him.
Before Isaiah can unlock it, there is a knock.
Isaiah looks at Mariah.
Mariah looks confused.
Another knock comes from the other side.
Isaiah reaches for the handle.
At that exact moment, Brooke arrives at the doorstep with her luggage.
She stands only a few feet away.
Isaiah opens the door.
Brooke looks up.
Her eyes immediately land on Isaiah.
Then she sees Mariah standing beside him.
Brooke freezes.
The suitcase slowly slips from her hand.
Her expression changes.
The hope in her eyes disappears.
She stares at Isaiah, unable to believe what she is seeing.
Tears begin filling her eyes.
Isaiah looks shocked to see her.
Mariah remains silent, sensing the tension.
SCENE 3 — THE SHOCK
Brooke takes a small step backward.
Isaiah…
She struggles to continue.
A tear rolls down her cheek.
What… what is she doing here?
Isaiah looks at Brooke with frustration.
Brooke looks between Isaiah and Mariah.
She wipes her tears, but more continue to fall.
You told me things were going to be different.
Isaiah says nothing.
Brooke’s voice becomes more emotional.
I came all this way because I thought you still cared about me.
Mariah looks uncomfortable.
She takes a small step back, giving them space.
I didn’t come here to fight.
She points toward her suitcase.
I came here because I wanted to be with you.
Isaiah’s expression becomes harder.
His patience is disappearing.
SCENE 4 — ISAIAH LOSES HIS TEMPER
Isaiah steps forward.
His voice becomes loud.
Why did you come here, Brooke?
Brooke looks frightened by his anger.
Because I love you.
Isaiah shakes his head.
You shouldn’t have come.
Brooke’s face falls.
So this is what you were doing?
Isaiah becomes even more angry.
Enough!
Brooke flinches.
The hallway suddenly becomes completely silent.
Isaiah points toward the street.
Get out of here.
Brooke stares at him.
She cannot believe the words coming from him.
Isaiah, please…
Isaiah interrupts her.
I said get out!
Brooke begins crying harder.
I never want to see you again.
Brooke slowly shakes her head.
Why are you talking to me like this?
Isaiah looks away for a moment.
Then he turns back toward her.
Who told you to come here?
Brooke has no answer.
She looks down at the floor.
Her hands tremble slightly as she tries to hold herself together.
SCENE 5 — BROOKE’S HEARTBREAK
Brooke looks at Isaiah one last time.
I thought you would understand.
Isaiah remains silent.
I thought you would be happy to see me.
Her voice breaks.
Mariah watches quietly from inside the doorway.
She does not interrupt.
Brooke bends down and picks up her suitcase.
She struggles to lift it because her hands are shaking.
Isaiah watches her.
For a brief moment, there is hesitation in his expression.
But he says nothing.
Brooke slowly turns around.
She begins walking away.
Every step feels heavier than the last.
She reaches the end of the walkway and stops.
She looks back.
Isaiah is still standing at the door.
Mariah is beside him.
Brooke’s eyes fill with tears again.
She realizes Isaiah is not coming after her.
SCENE 6 — THE DOOR CLOSES
Brooke lowers her head.
She pulls her suitcase behind her and walks away.
Isaiah continues watching.
Mariah looks at him.
Isaiah…
He doesn’t respond.
His eyes remain fixed on Brooke.
Brooke disappears from view.
Isaiah slowly closes the door.
The sound of the door closing echoes through the quiet house.
Outside, Brooke continues walking with tears streaming down her face.
She stops near the sidewalk.
For a moment, she looks back toward the house.
Nothing happens.
No one comes after her.
Brooke takes a deep breath and continues walking.
Inside the house, Isaiah stands silently near the door.
Mariah looks at him, realizing that his anger may have come from emotions he is struggling to control.
Are you okay?
Isaiah doesn’t answer immediately.
He looks toward the closed door.
I know.
A long pause.
But I didn’t know what else to say.
Mariah watches him carefully.
Isaiah turns toward the window.
Brooke is already gone.
He realizes that she may not come back this time.
The house falls silent.
And somewhere down the road, Brooke keeps walking with her suitcase, wondering whether she has finally lost Isaiah for good.
