Larry & Bethany
A Story of Regret and Healing
🏠 Scene 1 — Larry and Bethany’s Living Room — Evening
The house is quiet. Larry sits on the couch scrolling his phone when Bethany walks in, hopeful.
Bethany: Larry, I think we should start a business together. Something that belongs to both of us — we’d spend more time together, make decisions together, and maybe it would bring us closer.
Larry: I don’t think that’s a good idea. I don’t want to mix business with everything else going on between us.
Bethany: But maybe that’s exactly what we need. We barely spend time together anymore. Please, just think about it.
Larry: I already have. And my answer is no.
He walks away. Her face falls.
🍽️ Scene 2 — Kitchen — Later That Evening
Bethany: You didn’t even give me a chance. I’m trying to save our relationship.
Larry: You keep trying to force something I don’t want.
Bethany: Because I still believe in us.
Larry: And I don’t know if I do anymore.
Bethany freezes. The words hit her hard.
Larry: I’m tired, Bethany. I want a divorce.
Silence. Bethany’s eyes fill with tears as she walks out of the kitchen.
🌙 Scene 3 — Bethany’s Bedroom — Night
The room is dark. Bethany sits alone, staring into space, replaying Larry’s words. She picks up a framed photo of the two of them.
Bethany: Why did everything have to change?
Her voice breaks. She sets the photo down. The night passes quietly outside the room.
🌅 Scene 4 — House — Early Morning
Morning light fills the hallway. Larry, tired and uneasy, stops outside Bethany’s door and calls her name — no answer.
He opens the door and his expression changes immediately. Bethany is in distress and needs urgent help.
Larry: Bethany! … Please… please be okay.
He calls for emergency help, hands trembling, overwhelmed with fear and regret.
🏥 Scene 5 — Hospital — Morning
Brooke arrives and sees her father’s devastated expression.
Brooke: Dad… what happened? Is she okay?
Larry: The doctors are taking care of her. We argued last night — she wanted us to start a business together, and I got angry. I told her I wanted a divorce.
Brooke: Dad…
Larry: I never thought things would get this bad.
🚶 Scene 6 — Hospital Waiting Room — Later
Larry: This is my fault. If I had just listened…
Brooke: You can’t put everything on yourself. You were angry — you said something you regret.
Larry: But words can hurt people.
Brooke: Then make sure your next words are different.
The doctor approaches. He explains Bethany is receiving care, and the family should remain supportive as she recovers. Larry closes his eyes in relief.
💛 Scene 7 — Hospital Room — Afternoon
Larry enters slowly. Bethany is awake but exhausted. Neither speaks for a moment.
Larry: I’m sorry. I was angry — I said things without thinking about how deeply they could hurt you. I can’t change what happened last night, but I can be here now.
Bethany: I thought I was losing everything.
Larry: You don’t have to face this alone. Whatever happens between us, I want you to get the help and support you deserve.
A tear rolls down Bethany’s cheek. She slowly nods.
🌇 Scene 8 — Hospital Hallway — Evening
Larry steps outside. Brooke hugs him. He finally breaks down.
Larry: I don’t know if I’ll ever forgive myself.
Brooke: Maybe forgiving yourself doesn’t mean forgetting what happened. Maybe it means learning from it and doing better.
Larry: Then that’s what I’ll do.
The camera pulls away. Larry stands beside Brooke, knowing what comes next will require patience, accountability, and healing.
