BROOKE’S HEARTBREAK

A Cinematic Emotional Screenplay

SCENE 1 — BROOKE’S BEDROOM — EVENING

The room is quiet.

Brooke sits on the edge of her bed, staring at her phone. Her eyes are filled with hope as she makes a call.

📱 BROOKE
I want to come to Philly. I just want to see you.

There is a long pause.

Isaiah’s voice sounds cold.

📱 ISAIAH
No, Brooke. Don’t come.

Brooke’s expression changes.

📱 BROOKE
What? Why not?

Isaiah doesn’t soften his voice.

📱 ISAIAH
Because I don’t need you anymore.

Brooke slowly stands.

📱 BROOKE
What are you talking about?

Isaiah takes a breath before delivering the news.

📱 ISAIAH
Mariah is already here in Philly. She’s with me now.

Brooke freezes. Her fingers tighten around the phone.

📱 BROOKE
Mariah?

Isaiah says nothing.

Brooke’s eyes begin to fill with tears.

📱 BROOKE
You told me everything was going to be okay.

📱 ISAIAH
Things changed.

📱 BROOKE
Please, Isaiah. Let me come to Philly. We can talk about this face-to-face.

📱 ISAIAH
There’s nothing to talk about.

Brooke shakes her head, desperately trying to understand.

📱 BROOKE
Please. Just let me come.

📱 ISAIAH
No.

The call becomes painfully silent.

SCENE 2 — BROOKE’S BEDROOM — CONTINUOUS

Brooke wipes away a tear before calling Isaiah again.

He answers with obvious irritation.

📱 BROOKE
Why are you doing this to me?

📱 ISAIAH
Brooke, I already told you. I don’t need this anymore.

📱 BROOKE
I loved you.

Isaiah remains silent.

Brooke’s voice trembles.

📱 BROOKE
I trusted you.

📱 ISAIAH
I never asked you to keep waiting for me.

Brooke looks devastated.

📱 BROOKE
Then what was I to you?

Isaiah pauses before answering.

📱 ISAIAH
Honestly? I needed you for my own benefit.

Brooke stares at the phone in disbelief.

📱 BROOKE
What?

📱 ISAIAH
I got what I needed from this relationship. Now things are different.

Brooke struggles to process his words.

📱 BROOKE
So that’s all I was to you?

Isaiah’s answer is cold.

📱 ISAIAH
There’s no place for you in my heart anymore.

Brooke’s face falls.

The words echo through her mind.

“No place for you.”

Brooke slowly lowers the phone.

The call ends.

SCENE 3 — BROOKE’S BEDROOM — LATER THAT NIGHT

The house has become completely quiet.

Brooke remains alone in her room.

She sits beside the window, staring into the darkness.

Her phone rests beside her.

Another message from Isaiah appears.

Brooke doesn’t open it.

She simply stares at the screen.

Her emotions become overwhelming as she tries to process everything that happened.

📱 BROOKE
How could he say those things to me?

She wipes her tears.

📱 BROOKE
I thought he loved me.

Brooke places her phone down and closes her eyes.

The night passes.

SCENE 4 — THE NEXT MORNING — HALLWAY

Morning light enters the house.

Larry walks down the hallway carrying a cup of coffee.

Bethany follows behind him.

🗣️ BETHANY
I haven’t seen Brooke this morning.

Larry looks toward Brooke’s bedroom.

🗣️ LARRY
She’s probably still asleep.

They approach the door.

Larry knocks.

🗣️ LARRY
Brooke?

Silence.

He knocks again.

Still nothing.

Larry’s expression changes.

He slowly opens the door.

SCENE 5 — BROOKE’S BEDROOM — CONTINUOUS

Larry stops immediately.

Bethany looks past his shoulder.

Brooke is lying motionless on her bed, and something about her condition immediately frightens them.

Larry’s coffee slips from his hand and crashes onto the floor.

🗣️ LARRY
BROOKE!

Bethany rushes forward.

🗣️ BETHANY
Oh my God!

Larry immediately realizes that Brooke needs urgent medical attention.

🗣️ LARRY
Call for help!

Bethany grabs her phone with trembling hands.

🗣️ BETHANY
I’m calling right now!

Larry stays beside Brooke, his eyes filling with tears.

🗣️ LARRY
Baby girl, please.

He looks at her, desperately hoping she will respond.

🗣️ LARRY
Come on, Brooke. Wake up.

Bethany covers her mouth as she cries.

🗣️ BETHANY
What happened to her?

Larry looks around the room.

🗣️ LARRY
I don’t know.

His eyes land on Brooke’s phone.

SCENE 6 — LIVING ROOM — LATER

Larry sits with his hands clasped together.

Bethany walks back and forth nervously.

Neither of them knows what to do except wait and hope Brooke will be okay.

Larry keeps replaying the morning in his mind.

🗣️ LARRY
Why did Brooke end up like this?

Bethany stops walking.

🗣️ LARRY
What happened to her?

His voice cracks.

🗣️ LARRY
What could have hurt her so badly?

Bethany sits beside him.

🗣️ BETHANY
We have to believe she’s going to be okay.

Larry nods, but tears continue running down his face.

🗣️ LARRY
I just don’t understand.

Bethany gently places her hand on his shoulder.

🗣️ BETHANY
We’ll find out what happened.

Larry looks toward the hallway.

🗣️ LARRY
Something happened last night.

🗣️ LARRY
Something we don’t know about.

SCENE 7 — BROOKE’S PHONE — SAME TIME

Larry’s eyes return to Brooke’s phone.

He sees Isaiah’s name.

Larry’s expression suddenly becomes serious.

🗣️ LARRY
Isaiah.

Bethany looks at him.

🗣️ BETHANY
What about him?

Larry looks at the phone again.

🗣️ LARRY
He was talking to Brooke last night.

Bethany’s face changes.

🗣️ BETHANY
How do you know?

Larry looks through the recent activity.

He doesn’t yet know what was said.

But he knows the conversation happened.

🗣️ LARRY
I don’t know what he told her.

Larry slowly shakes his head.

🗣️ LARRY
But whatever happened… Brooke was hurting.

Bethany’s eyes fill with tears again.

🗣️ BETHANY
We need to know the truth.

🗣️ LARRY
We will.

SCENE 8 — HOSPITAL WAITING AREA — LATER

Larry and Bethany sit side by side.

The waiting room feels painfully quiet.

Larry stares at the floor while Bethany holds her hands together.

A doctor eventually approaches them.

They immediately stand.

🗣️ LARRY
How is she?

The doctor explains that Brooke is receiving care and needs to be monitored closely.

Larry exhales shakily.

🗣️ LARRY
Can we see her?

The doctor tells them they will be able to see Brooke when appropriate.

Larry nods.

🗣️ LARRY
Thank you.

The doctor walks away.

Bethany looks at Larry.

🗣️ BETHANY
She’s going to make it through this.

Larry looks toward the hallway.

🗣️ LARRY
I just want my daughter back.

SCENE 9 — BROOKE’S ROOM — LATER

Larry and Bethany finally stand beside Brooke.

Larry takes her hand.

His voice is soft.

🗣️ LARRY
You don’t have to explain anything right now.

He wipes away his tears.

🗣️ LARRY
Just know that we’re here.

Bethany stands on the other side of the bed.

🗣️ BETHANY
You’re not alone, Brooke.

Larry looks at Bethany.

They exchange a worried glance.

Neither says Isaiah’s name.

But both are thinking about him.

Larry looks down at Brooke.

🗣️ LARRY
I’m going to find out what happened.

🗣️ LARRY
I don’t care how complicated it is. I need to know why you were hurting this badly.

The room falls silent.

Larry gently holds Brooke’s hand.

🗣️ LARRY
Just come back to us, Brooke.

Bethany begins crying quietly.

Larry remains beside Brooke.

And somewhere in the back of Larry’s mind, one question refuses to disappear…

“What did Isaiah say to Brooke that night?”
