Scene 1 — Anthony’s House — Evening
The house is unusually quiet. Amber walks toward Anthony’s front door with a determined expression. She has come back because she wants answers. She pauses for a moment, takes a breath, and knocks.
The door opens. Denisha stands there. The moment Denisha sees Amber, her expression changes. Surprise quickly turns into anger. Amber remains standing at the doorway, trying to stay calm.
AMBER: I need to talk to Anthony.
Denisha stares at her. Her voice becomes cold.
DENISHA: Why are you here again?
Amber looks directly at her.
AMBER: Because I still have questions, and I deserve some answers.
Denisha’s frustration grows.
DENISHA: You already came here once. What more do you want?
Amber steps slightly closer.
AMBER: I want to know why everyone is acting like I’m the problem.
Denisha clenches her jaw. She clearly does not want to continue the conversation.
Scene 2 — The Argument
Amber refuses to leave. She looks past Denisha toward the inside of the house.
AMBER: Anthony needs to come out and talk to me.
Denisha immediately blocks her view.
DENISHA: You don’t get to walk into this house whenever you want.
Amber looks at Denisha in disbelief.
AMBER: I’m not here to cause trouble. I just want to speak to Anthony.
Denisha shakes her head.
DENISHA: You always say that, but somehow there is always another argument.
Amber becomes frustrated.
AMBER: Because nobody is telling me the truth!
The words echo through the entryway. Denisha’s expression becomes even more intense.
DENISHA: You need to stop blaming everyone else.
Amber takes a breath. She tries to explain herself.
AMBER: I’m not blaming everyone. I’m asking questions about what happened.
Denisha interrupts her.
DENISHA: And I’m telling you that you need to leave.
Amber refuses to back down.
AMBER: No. Not until Anthony talks to me.
A tense silence fills the room.
Scene 3 — Denisha Loses Her Temper
Denisha listens to Amber’s words. For a moment, she says nothing. Her anger continues to build. Amber notices the change in Denisha’s expression but keeps talking.
AMBER: You can be angry with me, but that doesn’t change what happened.
Denisha suddenly steps forward. Her emotions overwhelm her. In a moment of anger, Denisha slaps Amber across the face.
Amber freezes in shock. The entire atmosphere changes instantly. Denisha realizes what she has done, but her anger is still visible. Amber slowly looks back at her. She is stunned that the confrontation has gone this far.
AMBER: You just slapped me?
Denisha remains silent. Amber takes a small step backward.
Scene 4 — Anthony Hears the Commotion
Inside the house, Anthony hears the argument. He quickly comes out of the bedroom. His expression changes when he sees Amber and Denisha standing near the entrance.
ANTHONY: What is going on?
Amber looks toward Anthony. Denisha turns around. Anthony immediately notices the tension.
ANTHONY: Denisha, stop. Don’t do that again.
Denisha tries to explain herself.
DENISHA: She came here again and started accusing everyone.
Anthony raises his hand, signaling her to calm down.
ANTHONY: That doesn’t give you the right to hit her.
Amber looks at Anthony, still trying to process what just happened.
AMBER: I came here to talk to you.
Anthony looks at her seriously.
ANTHONY: Then we can talk. But nobody is going to hurt anyone.
Denisha steps back. The anger on her face slowly gives way to realization.
Scene 5 — Three People, One Confrontation
The three stand in the entryway. Nobody speaks for several seconds. Amber looks at Anthony.
AMBER: I didn’t come here looking for a fight.
Anthony nods.
ANTHONY: Then tell me what you came here to say.
Amber takes a breath.
AMBER: I want the truth. That’s all.
Denisha crosses her arms.
DENISHA: You should have left when I asked you to.
Anthony turns toward Denisha.
ANTHONY: Denisha, enough.
Denisha looks away. Anthony then faces Amber.
ANTHONY: You should have called me before coming here.
Amber responds firmly.
AMBER: I tried. I didn’t get the answers I needed.
Anthony becomes quiet. He understands that Amber is not going to simply walk away without speaking her mind.
Scene 6 — The Truth Comes Out
Amber looks between Anthony and Denisha.
AMBER: I don’t want another argument. I don’t want anyone fighting. But I won’t pretend everything is fine.
Anthony listens carefully.
AMBER: If there is something I need to know, tell me.
Anthony takes a moment before answering.
ANTHONY: We’re going to talk about everything. But we’re going to do it calmly.
Amber nods. Denisha remains nearby, still visibly upset.
DENISHA: I shouldn’t have reacted like that.
Amber looks at her. The tension remains, but the confrontation has finally stopped escalating.
AMBER: I hope you understand that hitting me didn’t solve anything.
Denisha doesn’t respond immediately. Anthony looks at both women.
ANTHONY: This needs to end here. No more shouting. No more fighting.
Everyone becomes silent.
Scene 7 — The Aftermath
Amber takes another breath. She looks toward the door. For a moment, it seems as though she might leave. But then she turns back toward Anthony.
AMBER: I came here because I wanted answers. I still do.
Anthony nods.
ANTHONY: And you’ll get them.
Amber studies his face. She wants to believe him. Denisha remains quiet in the background. The anger that filled the house moments earlier has been replaced by an uncomfortable silence.
Amber finally steps away from the doorway. Anthony watches her carefully. Denisha lowers her gaze. The confrontation is over for now, but the questions between them remain unanswered.
As Amber walks toward the door, Anthony calls after her.
ANTHONY: Amber.
She stops.
AMBER: What?
Anthony pauses.
ANTHONY: We’ll talk. Properly.
Amber gives a small nod. She opens the door and walks outside. Anthony remains standing inside the house. Denisha stands a few feet away from him. Neither of them says anything. The door slowly closes. The house becomes quiet again.
