Brooke’s Midnight Escape

Brooke’s Midnight Escape

She thought nothing could stop her journey to Philly… until her empty bank account and a mysterious warning changed everything.

1. Brooke Decides to Leave

It was already eleven o’clock at night, and the coffee cups sitting on the dining table had gone completely cold. A strange atmosphere of tension filled the house.

Brooke sat silently in her chair, nervously wringing her fingers, while Larry and Bethany stood in front of her with a mixture of anger and anxiety.

Brooke: “I have to go! You can’t keep me trapped like this. Isaiah is all alone in Philly, and I promised him I would come see him this week.”
Larry: “Brooke, try to understand. Philly is not safe for you right now, and we don’t like the idea of you traveling alone.”
Bethany: “Larry is completely right, Brooke. For now, you aren’t going anywhere. Period!”

Furious and heartbroken, Brooke stormed upstairs, entered her room, and slammed the door shut.

Inside her room, she made a secret decision: she would go to Philly no matter what happened.

2. Larry Blocks Brooke’s Money

In the hallway, Larry stood near the window. He knew Brooke’s stubborn nature and feared that she might secretly try to leave during the night.

Larry: “Bethany… I don’t trust Brooke right now. I have a strong feeling she might quietly book a flight and sneak out in the middle of the night.”

Suddenly, Larry thought about Brooke’s bank account. He believed that without money, she would not be able to buy a ticket.

Larry opened the account details on his phone and transferred the remaining balance into his own account. He also temporarily blocked Brooke’s debit card.

Brooke’s remaining balance: $0.00

Larry took a deep breath, believing he had finally stopped Brooke from leaving.

3. Brooke Secretly Heads to the Airport

Around two in the morning, the entire house was silent. Brooke quietly opened her bedroom door and tiptoed down the stairs.

Carrying a small backpack, she slipped out through the back door and climbed into a waiting taxi.

The taxi drove through the dark streets toward the airport. Brooke’s heart was pounding, but a small victorious smile appeared on her face.

Brooke: “You can’t stop me.”

About half an hour later, the taxi dropped her at the airport’s main terminal.

Brooke quickly walked toward the ticket counter.

Ticket Representative: “Hello ma’am, how can I help you today?”
Brooke: “I need a one-way ticket on the next flight to Philadelphia, right now.”

The representative checked the computer and told Brooke that a flight was available in forty minutes for $350.

4. The Card Gets Declined

Brooke happily pulled out her bank card and placed it into the payment terminal.

Suddenly…

TRANSACTION DECLINED — INSUFFICIENT FUNDS

The color drained from Brooke’s face.

Brooke: “What? How is that possible?”

She immediately opened her banking app. The screen showed:

ACCOUNT BALANCE: $0.00
Brooke: “No… no! Dad did this…”

Tears began streaming down her face. She had not even left enough money to pay for a taxi home.

Defeated, Brooke walked to a quiet airport bench, sat down, and buried her head in her knees.

5. The Unknown Number’s Terrifying Warning

Just as Brooke sat alone in despair, her phone suddenly vibrated.

A message from an Unknown Number appeared on the screen.

“Brooke… look toward the glass wall of the airport. I know your account is out of money.”

Brooke slowly wiped away her tears and continued reading.

“You weren’t going to meet Isaiah. You were about to make the biggest mistake of your life. Turn back before he reaches you.”

Brooke’s hands began to tremble. She slowly raised her head and stared toward the massive glass wall of the airport terminal.

Outside, beneath the airport lights and deep darkness, stood a mysterious figure wearing a black coat.

The figure remained completely still… staring directly at Brooke.

In its hand was a mysterious gleaming metal object.

WHO SENT THE MESSAGE… AND WHO IS WAITING OUTSIDE?

TO BE CONTINUED…

Brooke thought her journey to Philly had ended, but the mysterious stranger had already found her.
