The Door Larry Never Expected to Open

SCENE 1 — MORNING — LARRY’S HOUSE

Soft morning light fills the hallway.

Larry, dressed for work, checks his phone and picks up his office bag. He looks tired but focused, unaware that his day is about to take an unexpected turn.

LARRY
“I’ll be back this evening.”

Larry walks out through the front door.

The house becomes quiet.

A few moments later, Larry’s friend Rob arrives at the house. He looks around cautiously before entering.

Rob makes his way toward the bedroom area, where someone is already inside. The situation is private and emotionally complicated, but nothing about it is visible from outside the room.

Rob closes the door behind him.

SCENE 2 — LATER THAT MORNING — BEDROOM

The room is quiet.

Rob and the woman are together, caught up in a private romantic moment. Their conversation is soft, and the atmosphere feels secretive.

ROB
“You know Larry doesn’t know I’m here.”

The woman looks uneasy.

WOMAN
“I don’t think this is a good idea.”

Rob pauses.

ROB
“Maybe you’re right.”

For a moment, neither of them speaks.

The situation suddenly feels much more serious than either expected.

SCENE 3 — AFTERNOON — OFFICE

Larry sits at his desk, finishing his work.

His phone vibrates.

He looks at it but doesn’t see anything important.

Larry gathers his things and stands.

LARRY
“I’m heading home.”

He leaves the office, completely unaware of what has happened at his house.

SCENE 4 — EVENING — LARRY RETURNS HOME

The front door opens.

Larry walks inside.

The house is unusually quiet.

He puts his office bag down and notices that something feels different.

Larry slowly walks toward the bedroom.

His expression changes.

He reaches for the door handle.

LARRY
“Hello?”

There is no answer.

Larry opens the door.

He freezes.

His eyes widen as he sees Rob inside with the woman.

Larry doesn’t say a word.

The shock on his face says everything.

Rob immediately notices Larry standing in the doorway.

ROB
“Larry…”

Larry remains silent.

His breathing becomes heavier, but he doesn’t react immediately.

He slowly steps backward.

Then he turns around.

SCENE 5 — STORAGE ROOM

Larry walks quickly toward the storage room.

He opens the door and switches on the light.

His eyes move around the room.

He sees a baseball bat stored against the wall.

Larry reaches toward it.

He grips the bat tightly.

For several seconds, he simply stands there, struggling with his anger.

LARRY
“What am I doing?”

Larry looks toward the hallway.

He hears movement from the bedroom.

His anger rises again.

But instead of immediately attacking anyone, Larry takes a deep breath.

SCENE 6 — HALLWAY

Larry walks back toward the bedroom.

Rob is standing near the doorway.

The woman looks frightened by the situation.

Larry suddenly pushes the bedroom door open.

ROB
“Larry, wait!”

Larry raises the baseball bat.

The room becomes completely silent.

Rob instinctively steps backward.

Larry’s expression is furious.

LARRY
“Don’t come any closer.”

Rob stops.

The bat remains raised, but Larry hesitates.

Larry’s anger is obvious, yet he realizes that one impulsive decision could change everyone’s lives.

SCENE 7 — THE CONFRONTATION

The woman steps between Larry and Rob.

WOMAN
“Larry, please! Put the bat down!”

Larry looks at her.

His hands are shaking.

LARRY
“You both betrayed my trust.”

Rob lowers his eyes.

ROB
“I know you’re angry.”

LARRY
“Angry? You came into my home behind my back!”

Rob doesn’t answer.

Larry takes another breath.

The bat slowly lowers.

LARRY
“I could have done something I would regret forever.”

He throws the bat onto the floor, away from everyone.

The loud sound echoes through the room.

Rob looks shocked.

ROB
“Larry…”

LARRY
“Get out.”

Rob remains silent.

LARRY
“Just get out of my house.”

The woman looks at Larry with tears in her eyes.

WOMAN
“Please, let me explain.”

Larry shakes his head.

LARRY
“Not right now.”

SCENE 8 — THE FINAL MOMENT

Rob slowly walks toward the door.

Before leaving, he turns around.

ROB
“I never wanted things to become like this.”

Larry doesn’t respond.

Rob leaves.

The woman remains behind for a moment.

Larry looks at her, deeply hurt.

LARRY
“I trusted both of you.”

She struggles to answer.

WOMAN
“Larry, I’m sorry.”

Larry looks away.

LARRY
“I need you to leave too.”

She slowly walks toward the door.

Larry remains standing in the middle of the room.

The baseball bat lies on the floor several feet away.

He looks at it, then looks toward the empty doorway.

SCENE 9 — NIGHT

The house is silent again.

Larry sits alone in the living room.

His office bag is still beside the door.

He looks exhausted.

The anger that filled him earlier has been replaced by disappointment.

Larry takes out his phone but doesn’t call anyone.

Instead, he places it on the table.

LARRY
“Tomorrow, I’ll decide what happens next.”

The camera slowly pulls back.

Larry sits alone beneath the dim living-room light.

The baseball bat remains untouched in the hallway.
