Stevie had come over to Dave’s house expecting nothing more than an ordinary visit. He was Dave’s cousin, and he often stopped by to hang out, talk, and joke around with him.

That afternoon, Dave was busy working with his assistant, Omni, while Stevie sat nearby watching everything unfold.

At first, Stevie barely paid attention to Omni. She was focused on her work, moving between different tasks while Dave gave her instructions. Stevie occasionally looked in her direction, but he tried not to make it obvious.

The more he watched her, however, the more curious he became.

Eventually, Dave introduced them properly.

Their conversation started normally. Stevie asked her a few questions about her job, and Omni answered while continuing to work.

Stevie found himself enjoying the conversation more than he expected. There was something about Omni that caught his attention.

But Stevie didn’t tell Dave. He certainly didn’t tell Amber. Instead, whenever Omni came up in conversation, Stevie acted as if he was only joking.

One day, while Dave and Amber were talking, Stevie pointed toward Omni and laughed.

Amber looked at him suspiciously.

Stevie immediately laughed it off.

Nobody realized that Stevie wasn’t completely joking.

As the days passed, Stevie started finding more reasons to visit Dave. Sometimes he would arrive when Dave and Omni were working. Other times, he would ask Dave about something that didn’t really need his attention.

Whenever Omni entered the room, Stevie’s attention naturally followed. He tried to hide it behind jokes.

Omni would laugh, while Dave would shake his head.

But Stevie kept his real feelings to himself. He didn’t want Dave to know. He didn’t want Amber to know. And he definitely didn’t want anyone teasing him about it.

Then one afternoon, everything changed.

Dave and Omni were working together in the living room. Stevie arrived unexpectedly and walked inside without announcing himself.

At first, he didn’t see them. Then he noticed Dave and Omni sharing a private moment that made it clear there was something between them that Stevie hadn’t known about.

Stevie stopped in the doorway.

His expression changed immediately. The jokes disappeared.

He stood there silently, trying to understand what he was seeing.

All those conversations came rushing back into his mind—the first time he met Omni, the jokes about wanting her as his assistant, and the way he had started visiting Dave more often.

Suddenly, everything felt different.

Stevie didn’t answer. He turned around and walked away.

Omni looked toward the doorway but didn’t know what to say.

Outside, Stevie walked toward the garage, still thinking about what he had just witnessed.

His frustration continued building. He felt embarrassed that he had kept his feelings hidden while Dave apparently knew exactly what was happening.

After taking a moment to calm himself, Stevie decided he needed answers. He turned around and walked back toward the house, determined to confront Dave with the truth.

Inside, Dave was still trying to figure out why Stevie had suddenly disappeared.

Then they heard footsteps approaching.

Dave looked toward the hallway.

Omni also turned around.

Stevie appeared at the entrance, staring directly at Dave with an angry and frustrated expression.

Stevie didn’t answer immediately. Dave stood up and tried to understand what was happening.

Stevie finally stopped.

Omni stepped back, realizing that the situation was becoming serious. Dave stared at his cousin, trying to understand what had caused the sudden anger.

Then Stevie looked toward Omni.

His expression changed again.

For a moment, nobody said anything.

Dave slowly realized that Stevie’s anger wasn’t just about what he had seen. There was something else behind it.

Something Stevie had been hiding for days.

Stevie finally took a breath and admitted that his constant jokes about Omni had never really been jokes. He had developed feelings for her and had been trying to hide them because he didn’t want Dave or Amber to find out.

Dave was stunned.

Stevie looked away, realizing there was no point in hiding the truth anymore.

Omni remained quiet, unsure how to respond to everything that had just been revealed.
