Bethany Stops Larry From Going Too Far
The Argument
The living room was already tense when Larry walked in and saw Brooke arguing with him. Brooke looked frustrated, and Larry was clearly losing his patience.
Larry: “Brooke, I’ve told you three times already. Why do you keep doing the same thing?”
Brooke: “Because you don’t listen to what I’m saying, Larry!”
Larry: “You always have an excuse.”
Brooke: “And you always think you’re right!”
Larry: “Watch how you’re talking to me.”
Brooke: “Somebody needs to tell you the truth.”
Bethany Steps In
The argument became louder, and Bethany immediately stepped between them.
Bethany: “Larry, stop!”
Larry: “Stay out of this, Bethany.”
Bethany: “No. I’m not staying out of it.”
Larry: “She’s disrespecting me.”
Bethany: “Then talk to her. Don’t let your anger make the decision for you.”
Bethany looked directly at Larry and calmly continued.
Bethany: “Larry, you don’t need to scare her just to make her listen.”
Larry: “You think I’m trying to scare her?”
Bethany: “I think you’re angry. And when you’re angry, you stop thinking clearly.”
Brooke Explains Herself
Brooke: “Bethany, I appreciate you stepping in, but I can handle myself.”
Bethany: “I know you can. But this doesn’t need to become something bigger.”
Larry walked away for a moment and took a deep breath.
Larry: “I’m tired. Every time I come home, there’s another problem.”
Bethany: “Then tell her you’re tired. Tell her you’re frustrated. But don’t take your anger out on her.”
Larry stayed quiet. Brooke finally lowered her voice.
Brooke: “I wasn’t trying to make you angry. I just wanted you to hear me.”
Larry: “And you think yelling is going to make me listen?”
Brooke: “No. But you yelling at me isn’t helping either.”
Larry Calms Down
Larry: “You always take her side.”
Bethany: “I’m not taking anybody’s side. I’m stopping you from making a bad situation worse.”
Larry stared at Bethany for a moment before finally sighing.
Larry: “Fine.”
Bethany: “Good. Now sit down.”
Larry: “Why?”
Bethany: “Because you’re still angry.”
Larry: “I’m fine.”
Bethany: “No, you’re not.”
Larry finally sat down, and Brooke did the same.
The Apology
After a few quiet moments, Larry finally spoke.
Larry: “Brooke, I’m sorry I got that angry.”
Brooke: “I’m sorry too.”
Bethany: “That’s what I wanted to hear.”
Brooke: “I don’t want us fighting all the time.”
Larry: “Neither do I.”
Bethany: “Then stop trying to win every argument.”
Larry: “Are you talking to me or Brooke?”
Bethany: “Both of you.”
Everything Calms Down
Brooke laughed, and Larry finally smiled too. The tension in the room began to disappear.
Bethany: “Next time, talk before you lose your temper.”
Larry: “Okay, okay. I got it.”
The argument finally ended, and everyone realized that talking calmly was better than letting anger make the situation worse.
