Brooke Confronts Isaiah After Finding the Picture
Brooke Confronts Isaiah After Finding the Picture

Brooke stood in the middle of the room with her phone tightly gripped in her hand. Her expression had completely changed. Only a few minutes earlier, she had been calm, but now her face showed a mixture of anger, disbelief, and hurt.

Isaiah sat nearby, unaware of what Brooke had just discovered. He looked at her carefully when he noticed the silence in the room.

“Brooke, what’s wrong?” Isaiah asked.

Brooke didn’t answer immediately. She stared down at the phone in her hand, scrolling through the picture again. Her heart was pounding as she looked at the image on the screen.

It was Isaiah.

And standing close to him was Mariah.

The picture showed Isaiah and Mariah kissing.

Brooke slowly raised the phone so Isaiah could see it.

“What is this?” she asked.

Isaiah’s face immediately changed when he saw the picture.

“Brooke…”
“Don’t ‘Brooke’ me,” she interrupted. “I’m asking you what this is.”

Isaiah stood up slowly.

“I can explain.”
Brooke laughed bitterly. “Explain what? The picture is right there. I can see it with my own eyes.”

Isaiah took a step toward her.

“It’s not what you think.”
“Not what I think? Isaiah, you and Mariah are literally kissing in this picture.”

Isaiah looked down for a moment.

Brooke shook her head, trying to control her emotions.

“I trusted you,” she said. “I actually trusted you.”
“Brooke, please listen to me,” Isaiah said. “There’s a lot you don’t know about what happened.”
“Then tell me!”

Isaiah hesitated.

That hesitation made Brooke even more furious.

“If you have an explanation, then say it,” Brooke demanded.

Isaiah finally looked at her.

“Mariah and I had a moment. Things got complicated before I realized how much it would hurt you.”

Brooke stared at him.

“So you admit it?”
“I’m not trying to lie to you.”
“That’s supposed to make me feel better?”
“No,” Isaiah said quietly. “I know I messed up.”

Brooke looked back at the phone. The picture seemed to become more painful every time she looked at it.

“You didn’t just mess up,” she said. “You embarrassed me.”

Isaiah tried to move closer.

“I never wanted to hurt you.”
“But you did.”

Brooke stepped backward.

“You had so many chances to tell me the truth. Instead, I had to find out from a picture.”
“Brooke, please.”
“Don’t touch me.”

The room became completely silent.

Brooke’s eyes filled with tears, but she refused to let them fall.

“I keep thinking about every conversation we had,” she said. “Every time you looked me in the eyes and told me everything was okay. You knew this happened, Isaiah.”
“I know.”
“And you still let me believe you.”

Isaiah lowered his head.

“I was scared.”
“Scared of what?”
“Scared of losing you.”
“You should have thought about that before kissing Mariah.”
“I wish I could take it back.”
“But you can’t.”
“I know.”

Brooke held the phone up again.

“This picture is proof of what happened. I don’t care how many explanations you give me.”
“I’m sorry.”
Brooke looked directly into his eyes. “You keep saying you’re sorry, but you don’t understand what this feels like.”

Isaiah remained silent.

“You made me feel like I wasn’t enough.”
“That isn’t true,” Isaiah said quickly.
“Then why did you do it?”
“I don’t have a good excuse.”

Brooke stared at him, tears finally rolling down her cheeks.

“I wanted to believe you were different.”

Isaiah looked devastated.

“I wanted to be.”

Brooke wiped her face and looked away.

For several seconds, neither of them spoke.

“Brooke, please give me a chance to explain everything.”
Brooke turned around. “You already had your chance.”

She started walking toward the door.

“Brooke, wait.”

She stopped but didn’t turn around.

“I know I hurt you,” Isaiah said. “And I know saying sorry won’t fix it. But I don’t want you walking away thinking that you meant nothing to me.”

Brooke slowly turned around.

“Then you should have acted like I meant something.”

Isaiah had no answer.

Brooke looked at the phone one more time.

The picture was still on the screen.

Isaiah and Mariah together.

A single image had changed everything.

Brooke walked back toward him, her emotions overwhelming her.

“You know what hurts the most?” she asked.
Isaiah looked at her. “What?”
“I trusted you.”

Her anger suddenly took over, and she slapped Isaiah across the face.

The room went silent.

Isaiah stood completely still, shocked by what had just happened.

Brooke immediately stepped back.

Her hand trembled, and tears continued running down her face.

“I never wanted things to get like this,” she whispered.
Isaiah touched his cheek and looked at her. “I know.”

Brooke looked down at the phone.

“I don’t know if I can ever look at you the same way again.”
Isaiah swallowed hard. “Is this goodbye?”

Brooke didn’t answer immediately. She looked at him for several seconds.

“I don’t know,” she finally said. “Right now, I just need to get away from you.”

She turned toward the door.

Isaiah didn’t stop her this time.

Brooke walked out with the phone still in her hand, the picture of Isaiah and Mariah still visible on the screen.

Behind her, Isaiah remained standing alone in the room, realizing that one decision had created consequences he couldn’t simply apologize away.

Outside, Brooke took a deep breath.

She knew she was hurt. She knew she was angry.

But most importantly, she knew she needed time to decide whether the trust Isaiah had broken could ever be rebuilt.
